    The humble rivet is still one of the best ways to join two metal plates together.
    For those that don’t understand, once the rivet cools it decreases in length bringing the two bits of metal incredibly tight together. It won’t undo or become loose over time either. Simple bit incredibly effective.

    All the folks saying safety this, tools that. This is a different world here, use what you have to do the job, do the job correctly and reasonably. In Europe or USA no one thinks twice about 200$ metatarsal boots to do this work in or 30$ safety glasses, well guess what? 30$ is 4 or 5 days pay and buys food for your family for a week. It is not Europe or the USA it is Pakistan and the is how they did things. You watch where you walk, what you do and use your brain to keep from getting hurt because from a young age you learn no one is watching out for you but you.
    Pakistan truck: your work is amazing, your workers are amazing and the finished product is very road worthy... great work and thank you for the look into your day, the video and sharing the time it takes to make them.

    • @AKAtheA
      @AKAtheA Před 3 lety +10

      the dude with the sledge hammer misses = the guy holding the riveting die looses the hand...and no, not exacerbating, the damage from the sledge hammer would be enough for even a western hospital to give you a 50/50 chance of loosing the hand. Over there? Amputation guaranteed. (and you'd still have to hope you don't die of sepsis)
      And it's not just holding the rivet die with his hand instead of having a long handle for it. Sketchy jacking, running the entire truck axle unbalanced in a lathe, long loose sleeves when operating said lathe, sticking hands between unsecured heavy metal objects (personally seen why that is bad idea...)
      He won't be able to feed himself, let alone his family if he becomes a cripple, all because nobody wanted to take a few minutes to make something safer by attaching a piece of scrap metal to something. Do you still think this work mentality is not insane?

Его напарник, тот что с кувалдой, был большой специалист в этом деле - с двух ударов перерубывал заклёпки. Батя говорил, в этом деле главное не зажимать зубило . Оно должно лежать на ладонях и улетать вместе с отрубленной шляпкой заклёпки. Ну и ,конечно, на торце зубила не должно быть наклёпыша чтобы не травмировать руки

    • @crazyoilfieldmechanic3195
      @crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 Před 4 lety

      It will work and maybe for a couple of years but no it wouldn't pass inspection because of the laws. In the US you use a new frame rail or make a new one. If it breaks often you make a new one thats twice as thick and replace both sides. However lots of older US trucks have had the frames strengthened but not repaired by stacking as many as 3 frame rails and bolting them together down the length. Also have seen many off the road trucks in the US with frames repaired this way and some repaired much worse than the vid. But those were only used on dirt roads on job sites. Never on public roads. Sometimes people in the US will take the risk and repair their own on Hiway truck frame this way and hide the repair as best they can to fix a truck cheap but it is illegal but maybe they will never be caught. Especially if they hide the welded frame piece inside a larger one and then put a smaller piece inside also. In the US though it's usually easier to just sell the damaged truck and buy another truck.
