The first thing that always comes to mind with McCabe is him getting rag dolled by Chara. Even McCabe laughs about it 😂
To be fair anyone would, that dude was a monster when he was younger.
Chara shook him like a towel
Loved when the Leafs had McCabe, still have his jersey. Just a tough D man that also had a wicked slap shot, sadly because he made a couple bad plays when the Leafs were horrible they chased him out of town, but still got a ton of great memories.
McCabe ended up being underrated in Toronto after the own goal with Buffalo and being part of the infamous "Muskoka Five." At his peak though he was an excellent defenseman who earned high praise from Brian Leetch.
Ahh that McCabe - Kaberle era was as good a blue line as the Leafs have seen
Even Cory Cross & Aki weren't as bad as folk would remember
strength: PP, weakness: defending, special move: _can opener_
Nah he was fine as a defender, he would sure make a player pay the price for trying to make a play or going to the boards.
Loved McCabe growing up. Was always a fan and was sad when the end of his time with the Leafs was mostly spent as a scapegoat.
I love Bryan McCabe... He was part of the sqaud, that made me a life long Leafs fan... :)
Kaberle, Tucker, Mogilny, CUJO(!!!!!!), Svehla and all these awesome guys.
My favourite player as a leaf fan growing up
Him and Kaberle were top pairing back in early 2000's
Waited for this one. McCabe was my favorite player growing up, I even got a blue mohawk when I was 10 or so. Captained two franchises, not many can say that!
Just came back from the late Shift.
So this is perfect for me.
Thanks Shannon 👍😁
I Hope you guys have a Nice and relaxing vacation.
You should do a career video on Alexander Frolov. Didn’t play a lot, but super underrated for the Kings.
Wow... Karpovtsev... name I haven't heard in years. RIP
Hawks would later trade Karpovtsev to the Islanders for a fourth round pick in 2004. The player they took? Niklas Hjalmarsson.
I was a big McCabe fan in my high school days cheering for Toronto. The Mohawk baby!
He was a lightning rod in the media and with the fans in Toronto towards the end of his run there
It’s a shame that he never got a cup. He is one of the many great players that never got a chance to get one. If the Panthers would have had decent management and ownership, not the disastrous ownership of Alan Cohen, which almost destroyed the franchise, then maybe McCabe would have won at least one championship and his name would be on the cup.
That last trade to the rangers looks like a "lets see if we can get you to a contender and give you a shot at a cup" trade so i am not surprised he ended up back in Florida.
He was captain in NY when they traded him and then named Linden captain.
I think it would be great if you add to your career videos when they signed contracts/extensions and for how much. thanks Shannon
Hey, he was part of the mix Vancouver baked into the Sedins. Fair trade.
So how about a career video of PJ Axelsson?
He was a part of a monster fantasy team I had in 05-06. Crosby, Ovechkin, Staal, and McCabe. I won pretty handily.
I miss McCabe and Kaberle. Probably the best d pair on leafs in my 41 years on this planet. I dont recall Salmings partner being as good.
One of the greatest Canucks purely based on the assets associated with his arrival and departure!
In the Hey Burke episode on the Sedins you hear Burke lament over trading him, but in the end it all worked out.
Alex Karpotsev mention!!!
Pat Foley's favourite player
Always remember McCabe scored own net vs Buffalo OT
I might be confusing McCabe with someone else but if I recall correctly, at some point during McCabes short time in Vancouver his contract was up and and him and th canucks were super far apart in contract negotiations and there was talks that he might hold out and Brian Butke said something along th lines of "if he wants to hold out, let him, I'll send him a TV so he can watch the games from home" lol
I always think that EA based there AI on Mike Milbury as the trade offers during NHL 03 career mode were often bonkers like "trade Sergei Fedorov and Petr Svoboda for 2 shoes and a zamboni tyre?" If you accepted the offer you would rarely win a cup. Also no free agent rated over 80 would sign with you. Milbury AI strikes again! 😉
do a carrer video of dion phaneuf pls lol
Best years were in Toronto, yup.
Was it in Toronto when he had a eye injury ?
I think you’re thinking of Berard
Dallas Drake, Jay McKee, Robyn Regehr, Stu Barnes, and Frederik Modin next please, if you haven't done them already.
Leafs fans hated him...well because...he played defence and he played for the leafs 🤷♂
