    I got my esthetician license about 5 yrs ago but always stuck to just doing make overs. I recently began doing lashes. But now I’m excited for more as an esthetician you can do a lot but it only scratches the surface. I’m interested in dermaplanning, Microneedling and micro blading. You need different type of education and licenses for all three which I find dumb since they are all tied together. Hi Janet! Thank you so much for this video!!
    I am currently in nursing school studying a BSc.in Nursing (Intellectual Disability/Intellectual Developmental Disability in the US). I'm in my 3rd year (one more year to go!😪) And I already know I do not want to work in this area of nursing.
    I originally wanted general nursing and then work in med-surg and eventually theatre nurse. Something about working in hospitals especially in the surgical/medical side of things really really interests me. Unfortunately, I did not get to go down that route.
    I am now looking into Aesthetic nursing (idk how I came across it or thought of it anymore) but I don't know much about it and I am nervous about taking this route because I'm an introvert but when I have patients and in a working environment for some reason I am more extroverted than introverted 😂
    I am interested in this type of nursing and the more videos I'm watching I think I'm more interested in the skin care side of things and laser hair removal sounds pretty cool!

    • @NurseJanetG
      @NurseJanetG  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi!! Wow what a journey! Do you live in another state? I didn't know nurses had to choose a specialty in school! I just did general and you could technically get a job anywhere! I am the most extroverted introvert out there lol I am super shy, but at work and with my patients I am different. That is a good balance, you will be just fine :) always just find a connection with your patients and build trust! it goes such a long way. I can recommend a few good skincare books for you! go ahead and email me and ill link them :) Skincare took me a while to get the hang of, but now I love it!

    • @PreciousMb16
      @PreciousMb16 Před 4 lety

      @@NurseJanetG Hi Janet! Thank you for getting back to me! 😁
      I live in Ireland. Here you can choose a specialty but you can also do general nursing as an undergrad.
      I applied for general but I also included specialities just to increase chances of getting into nursing school. But sadly, I didn't get the discipline of nursing that I really wanted 😔.
      However, I am excited about going into aesthetics as it's different and I really didn't know that there was such a thing as aesthetic nursing. It sounds pretty cool!
      Thanks for the tip of developing a relationship with patients as an introvert 😂And Yes I will send you an email for the skin care books.
      Looking forward to more videos on your channel! 😊👍🏾

    I have applied to a bunch of places. They never even called or emailed. I got upset and frustrated and decided to take the class for botox and fillers. I dm'd a bunch of ppl and only ppl in California want to train me. I am from Florida and they have nothing to offer. No one in florida wants to train! So I'm catching a flight to Cali to be trained by the best. I'm a nurse practitioner. I plan on opening my own office to start off with botox and fillers I'm excited

      Unfortunately, in the US AND CALI nursing school would be necessary. These are medica treatments but the “prettier” side of medicine 😌
      Nursing school gives you good knowledge for the basics of aesthetics and then you fine tune it once you graduate.

    Hi! I have a question. I'm interested in pursuing this career and I was wondering if getting an ADN to take the NCLEXRN to become a RN is good enough/a good route to become an Aesthetic Nurse. Or is it more favorable if you have a BSN? As you mentioned doing a whole 4-year nursing school to be an Aesthetic Nurse is a long and hard process so I'm just looking to do it in the least amount of time with enough credentials. Hoping for your response!

      don't go to nursing school if you want to get into aesthetics. go to nursing school because you have this innate need to care for others and want to care for humans. that is how you know you got into this field for the right reasons. Imagine you go into nursing school just to inject people and once you start injecting, you realize you don't like it. That is when I find a lot of people in my field feel lost :( but if you go into nursing because you want to care for others, your job opportunities are endless AND you will be happy in the long run

    Hi! I see you went to Mount Saint Mary’s University! I am currently a high school senior and I was recently accepted into the pre-nursing program there. I really want to be an Aesthetics nurse but confused on what some of the steps are to become one. So after finishing nursing school, in order to obtain your certificates to be able to administer Botox, were these classes fairly hard or easy to pass since they were only 1-2 days? I was also wondering how long it took you to become an Aesthetics nurse excluding the amount of time you were a floor nurse? I’m only a 17 year old and still trying to figure things out and your help would really mean a lot! xo

    • @NurseJanetG
      @NurseJanetG  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi Jackie! Omg yayyyy! Congrats!!!
      So after you are done, you have two choices:
      1. Find a job that will train you to do Botox, Fillers, etc (some plastic surgeons will).
      2. Take a certificate class FIRST (I know few people who have done this without a job) and then go find a job. This is probably not the ideal way.
      I would say find a place to work FIRST (like a surgeons office or laser place) and let them know you want to take the dive into aesthetics.
      The courses aren't like you take a test after. You learn about Botox and filler and then you do it yourself with your instructor watching.This is why I think it is SOOOO important to find a SMALL class setting. That way the instructor can watch you! I did a one day class on Botox and injectables and then just began injecting that very week! This was also 4 years ago and this field wasn't as big. Nowadays, you can shadow someone! We have shadowing and interning at The Things We Do :) when you're ready, you can reach out :)
