DRUM and BASS MIXTAPE with KORG ELECTRIBE 2S / HACKTRIBE and KORG KAOSSILATOR

- I recently upgraded my Korg Electribe 2s installing the free firmware Hacktribe that add some filters and oscillator of the Electribe 2 version, plus a serie of new oscillators, mostly FM, and some nice insert Fx like the resonant filters. In this mixtape i experimented with the new oscillator making all the basses / reeces and the pads / ambients of the melodic parts, for the drums i used the classic oscillators like sine for the bottom, noise for the transient and another noise with a little slowly attack envelope for the slappyness. I added my Korg Kaossilator in order to make movement between the parts, i used all the oscillators so the machine is a little glitchy. The Hacktribe updatemake the Electribe 2s a machine to another level!

Yes the snares are very old skool even having the title for 1 snare ,'Hipppie ' ? is named for some reason but dj Mitsubishi has played on some samples 98' =his year !for class,but them long jazzy? Jungle rolles that I mentally sometimes get lost in! I find playing manually hard ,not that it bothers me as dnb simple beat is easy ,Jungle beat is sampled and some sequenced

Love these harsh bass lines you're getting. Matt Greer has gotten sounds like that too, so harsh and good. Have you ever gotten a sound like that with a Volca FM?
I don't own a Volca FM but i made these bass sounds mainly with Hacktribe FM operators so i suppose that you can make similar sounds with the Volca FM too. I recently uploaded a new video with similar basses but made with the Elektron Model:Cycles, another FM synth. The only thing i can say it's that those 2 machines are multitimbral so you can switch between different basses, the Volca FM can made just one sound at time :)

Now I wish I had looked up "Hacktribe" before I sold my electribe. Just felt cumbersome to use.
The standard version is nice but a little limited by filters and oscillators, anyway i never sold any instrument without regrets :D

Does sampling still work on this firmware? Maybe put Wave sounds in the traditional USB/SD Card way?
Yes of course works great, with SD card but also sampling directly in box with microphone or external audio

Hey, i'm not sure about a song mode but there is a pattern chain mode, in this jam i switch between two different patterns (intro and drop) and play with mute / unmute. Anyway this groovebox with the Hacktribe firmware (not official) is a beast of machine :D i bought mine by second hand just for curiosity but now i'm really happy to have it :D good work with your channel. Wicked!

Thankyou :) nope in this jam there are no samples! Hacktribe provides some new FM waveforms, all the filters from non sampling version and some new FX. It makes the machine a Better synthetizer but there are not samples :)

thanks! About the glitches... not really funny :D expecially when add long sounds (like pads) the machine go crazy XD sometimes i need to overdub single tracks :S how do you fix glitches?
@@WaitingForZyo a device of endless fun and nearly endless quirks. It's funny though, I've gotten a few newer and arguably nicer samplers since the Electribe and I still prefer it. You've inspired me to try out the Hacktribe stuff
talking of glitches a bomb the bass line track uses the same glitch that's inside one of the samples of e2 sampler
which one? I deleted all the old samples when i installed Hacktribe and i never reimported it, i remember them a little boring but it was a full spectrum sounds palette :D@@waynesilverman3048
How much post processing was applied to this (DAW effects like limiters etc.)? Sounds fantastic!
Hi, for this one i recorded a stereo track with the Zoom H1on then made a standard masterimg on Ableton. Just i can't remember if i used Ozone or a custom chain with various plugin (from a Plugin Alliance mix and masterimg bundle)
