Yeah it’s very much inspired by the young Ahsoka hilt. I like it.
To be fair, Luke's original light-saber in ANH was pretty thick and it was also thick in ESB. While I don't necessarily believe it, a rumor going around is that these hilts are deliberately thicker because it's 100 years in the past and the tech hasn't advanced to the prequel era yet. But I don't think that is true, I actually think it's due to the props, but then if we looks at the sabers in "Kenobi", those hilts match the prequels while also using the modern method with a led tube. So maybe there is something to that rumor of the sabers being older, but I don't think we'll know until we get some more interviews or bts info.
The Graflex and MPP camera flashguns can be thicker than some other lightsabers (especially compared to prequel lightsabers), but they’re not that bad in all honesty. They’re nothing like the Savi’s/legacy sabers though. Those are WIDE.
As for the theory that they’re thicker because in canon they’re older, I just don’t buy it. This show is set 100 years before The Phantom Menace (32 BBY). Santari Khri (who died 209 BBY) and Dagan Gera had much more standard sized sabers. Acolyte sabers are most likely thick so that they can add the pieces to Savi’s or make “screen accurate” legacy sabers. I don’t blame Disney for making them this way, but I’m much more interested in these hobbyist sabers.

@@jeremydrew1227 ummmm I have an ANH Graflex? The thickest part is the bottom half because of the grips, which are wide yes. But the top half isn’t that bad if you avoid the red button and bunny ears. The worst part about the Graflex are the greebles, but that’s the charm of that hilt as well.

They wanted to try to accommodate the batteries of the sabers in the hilts themselves. In shows like ahsoka, and obi wan, they hid the battery and wire on the actors themselves.
Finally someone that also noticed that the lightsaber hilts in The Acolyte are THICK af, they really looks like a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber and that’s horrible

That's a pretty cool looking hilt. I like the changes they made to it for sure.
Sol and the villain are rhe best things about the show in my opinion, also i really believe they just took galaxys edge sabers and just mix and matched them and let the actors figure it out 😂

Another great and beautiful video, love this saber yep agree needs weathering. After comparing the Xeno3 and SNV4 Pro I still think the Xeno3 is still more polished although the SNV4 Pro was potential IF it’s updated more frequently

Which still doesn’t make sense because other characters didn’t have hilts that thick and clearly didn’t need battery packs.
Which still STILL doesn’t make sense considering people have been making high quality, screen accurate style lightsabers for a long time. I can understand why in Galaxy’s Edge the sabers aren’t as high quality and are bigger than a higher priced, higher quality saber. But Disney definitely has enough money to afford to have sabers made that will look good on screen that aren’t so damn thicc with “battery packs.” 🙄
We live in a world filled with thinner lightsabers with internal batteries and speakers. There’s no reasons for them to be that big beside to put right in to the park with out needing to redesign.
Yeah when I saw that lightsaber I immediately thought of Padawan Ashoka. Love that heat-staining look on any lightsaber! Really wish that some sabers offered it as an option like they do with weathering!!!

Hey, thanks for reminding me that four years after its final season, The Clone Wars is STILL the best Star Wars show. Certainly better than The Acolyte!
Love that design at the top of the Saber, I think Sol's saber would work great as a shoto saber for double saber combo
I noticed on my neopixel, that annoying beep has gone away and you just have to "feel" the wait, or look @ the button flash for the counts. It almost trains you and then the beeps go away. I love it. Maybe theres a setting for it that Im obviously missing?
I 100% agree with the opinion. Way too much padding on the show. I think once the inevitable movie edit comes out that will be much better

The photon ignition I think makes more sense coming from the hilt not the tip. The Hilt is the source of ignition so the flashes should be coming from that end and moving towards the tip. I wonder if you can change that in the code.
I appreciate that the saber is not big and thick like on the show. Slimmer tube makes it actually practical for actual use. The bigger thicker show tubes are just not practical at all. I would pick the slimmer tube every single time over show/movie accurate thicker tubes.

I dont know why they are thick AF but can only guess they mean to convey the technology isnt as honed yet, which is a nice idea, but totally doesnt understand how long lightsabers have been around
I couldn't help but notice how the Acolyte sabers are all so flashlight thick. It looked super odd.

Oh I can be harsh but there’s no place on this channel for that. I don’t enjoy talking about or even making long videos about things I don’t like. Just seems like a waist of my time and I want this channel to be a place that everyone came just enjoy something together.

Personally I haven’t liked any of the saber hilts from this show. This one just looks too smooth and basic.
I think another reason for the thickness is to represent the technology advances that lightsabers take over the years. I don't agree with it because like you said, the main reason seems to be so they can directly translate it to the Galaxy's edge shops for people to purchase, but I still want to believe there is some hope left
Well, if you watch the Ahsoka show, just take a look at the size of young Ahsoka lightsaber. It’s also HUGE. So I don’t think it has anything to do with tech advancement. I don’t understand the over sized designs beside the park.
I disagree because there’s other High Republic lightsaber hilts that are thinner and more stylish, just like the hilts presented in the 3 trilogies or series, the ones presented in The Acolyte are literally some Savi’s Workshop’s lightsabers

@@bensloan8830 I don’t think is Disney the one that’s dividing the fandom, it’s that small group of “fans” that gets mad with things that they don’t like and start to being so noisy about that, Star Wars is a huge universe with lot of things for explore, but some people thinks that universe must be like it is in their heads
There’s fans that can like or dislike stuff, but they also respect the opinion of each others without making drama about that, but there’s also the small “fans” group that loves to make drama if someone likes the things they hate or tag something as “woke” because is not molded to their thoughts, and prefer attack others instead being open for discussion
I like that hilt buddy. However, I am along with the whole community do not like where lucasfilm has been taking this series towards. I feel sorry for several actors and actresses who have no idea what kind of backlash that's coming to them even though its not their fault. Its the writers and directors who are doing it. They are not willing to learn the ways of the force.
