Despite Fatburger's patty being 1/3lb precook, at $8.95 they are $3.25 more expensive for 1oz more to In-N-Out's $5.70 Double-Double 1/4lb precook. I much prefer whole leaf lettuce to shredded. I order extra toasted buns, chopped chili peppers, and extra veggies for no additional charge. Then also ask for free chilled spread packets when picking up my order.
The $11.59 vegan shake is made with Craig's cashew-based ice cream, oat milk, and coconut whipped cream. A pint of the Craig's goes for $8.49 at Spouts. Which by judging Bob's shake @3:43 they probably use ~1/2 pint of ice cream in their shakes for big profit.

Yeah, the "meal" that would usually be about $5.
Most fast food burgers were a standard $1, with the premium versions being $2 or $3, with the meal being about $5 or so.
Used to be able to get a double cheeseburger, Whopper, Jumbo Jack or whatever for only $1.
Now these same burgers are 6 times the price?
This burger by itself is $10 fucking dollars.

Where do we draw the line? Do we stop going out to eat all together? Do we resort to going to upscale places as it’s not much more than the run of the mill fast food joints? Even making burgers at home are outrageous in price by the time you buy all the quality ingredients. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s simply expensive to be alive and even more expensive to die. 🤷‍♂️

Well, here's the thing. Fatburger has been an institution here in SoCal since the 1950s. The burgers are very good and they use high-quality ingredients. The choice of skinny fries, fat fries or sweet potato fries is also very cool, and their fries are much better than many fast food places. Fatburger is a bit pricey, but I never leave hungry or disappointed. And that Maui-Banana shake is certainly tasty.

Hey V-BOB-M, much like the "Five Guys" chain we believe that the establishment you dined at claims fresh never frozen ground beef. This partially explains the cost paradigm. Here's where they sneakily cheap out on the customer fella' - Their ground beef is the lower grade 70/30 blend instead of the more superior 80/20 mixture. Quite a cost savings from their purveyor.
