Hurricane Hilary grows into Category 3 hurricane, forecast to bring heavy rain to SoCal

- Hurricane Hilary strengthened into a major storm Thursday evening off Mexico’s Pacific coast, and it could bring heavy rain to the southwestern U.S. by the weekend. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Hilary's maximum sustained winds had risen to 120 mph (195 kph), making it a Category 3 hurricane.
The storm was expected to grow into a Category 4 hurricane Friday while on a projected path that threatened landfall on the central Baja California peninsula by Sunday or possibly keep just offshore while heading for Southern California.

@@papaphatz4144 I put a couple boulders from the yard into the bottom of the bucket. Once water starts spilling into the bucket it's really heavy. When we got the big rains and February I got about eight barrels of water

We already got more than double the precipitation back in winter/spring. Lots of rain in a short amount of time is more cause of concern for floods than a way to recharge basins/reservoirs effectively

@@AintSkeerdNWO I'm in Austin, Texas, and watching what's happening. Austin is 150 miles inland from the Gulf coast and we've had storm damage here from tropical storms/hurricanes.
We had that tropical system last year, 2022 that also came up frlm Baja. It literally saved us from the Fairview Fire in Hemet. How do these "news" people not know this

I'll dare to venture that California doesn't have a single hurricane flag or a solid operational plan for a storm of this nature. Hurricane evacuation routes? Nah, don't think so. Crow will be on the menu for the Emergency Managers who didn't want to stake their professional career on the idea that the state could get hit with a hurricane.

Most likely you guys will lose power, so have power or food/water ready if you are sheltering in place. Depending on how bad it is, power could be out 2-3 days or more. Trees knocked out power when I lived in Jacksonville and it was a tropical storm. Alot of debri will fly along with twigs and branches.
