I stumbled in to the Cabbage Patch Bar one nite, and The Outlaws MC had the whole place. I was pretty hammered and didn’t realize until after I ordered a beer. I soon realized the trouble I could have put myself, guzzled down the beer, and promptly go the hell out of there. That was Daytona Bike Week 1987, and I haven’t had a drink of alcohol since.

I wouldn't call you old but you've outlived a lot of your peers for sure. No surprise given you have the attitude you do, seems like you know you're due respect but also know that trying to extract it at all costs does you more harm than good. The anecdotes are interesting enough but your wisdom is the real deal. Thanks for sharing your stories of a life well lived, hope the adventures continue for you and the wife!

My good friend who is not a 1% was that a biker bar and was sitting at the bar next to one of the top 1% club members... They started laughing and joking together having a great time lots of great stories... It all went well... A few months later he happened to go into another bar and saw the same 1% sat next to him and said hey remember me.. the 1% said just get away from me! .. which he should have took to hint..... No remember me we were drinking and having fun a few months ago at blah blah bar... Boom one percenter punched them knocked them right out! When a 1 percenter tells you to leave him alone believe me that's a warning .. take heed

In the 70\s I was a hangaround with a local club. Rode with them, partied at the clubhouse and ran 'special errands". One day a bunch of them came to my house and demanded I return 4000 dollars I was accused of burning from them. They told me I had until noon to give them the money. I had no idea what that was all about so I decided to leave town for a while until I figured it out. I stayed at a bikers house about 50 miles away and he would give me intel on the b/s I was accused of. After a few days I had enough facts together and called the president and told him I'd meet him at the clubhouse to discuss this. I finally cleared my self but decided to break away from that b/s.
P.S. a few days before they showed up at my house I got a call from a friend at 4 AM and all he said was
" How could you do that? 4000 dollars man, why?"" and he hung up. I never heard from the guy again!! Another friend got his leg shot off by these dudes.Another time I un willingly got in the middle of a gunfight and was taken downtown, because the dude shooting at us got killed The 70's was a rough time I am surprised I survived them. Since 1980 I never rode with a club member or the clubs, except the "Sons Of God MC my friend joined. Life has enough problems let alone asking for more. CHEERS

Was a hang around in the early 80s. Bounced at a topless club that a 1% club had some "old ladies" dancing at. First time I saw a kilo of blow on the desk top. Went to several crazy afterhour parties and banged some honeys- dope everywhere. Ended up on the business end of a .357 once. lucky to be alive. Have been to clubhouses since, but I ride alone or maybe with a buddy or two.

A close friend of mine once met a dude who was a 1% prospect. They quickly became friends because they sat together at mechanics school. They started hanging out daily and for a couple months all was fine. At some point the prospect asked my friend to borrow a 200$ and my friend agreed. Next week he got the money back as promised. All was fine. A couple weeks later the prospect again asked to borrow money; this time it was 2000$ dollars. My friend borrowed him the money since it was all good the first time.
Three weeks later my friend hadn't gotten his money back. The Prospect kept saying he'd pay back soon, but turned out to be harder and harder to get a hold of and he was ghosting my friend.
My friend was pissed but just had to drop it and accpt loosing his money... But then a month later 5 bikers showed up at his parents house claiming that he owed the bikers 4000$.... My friend was totally confused about the situation, but the bikers were load and violent and threatened him with breaking his parents knees if he didn't pay up the following friday,...
Here is how it ended: First we contacted one of the biggest newspapers in our country and told them the story. next day it was frontpage news how Hells Angels threatened an innocent family.
Next step was to call the Hells Angels Clubhouse and talk to their Sergent at arms. We eksplained the entire situation to him. All he ever said was, I'll take care of that prospect, he won't ever be a problem again and we are no threat to you what so ever. Your money is gone, but the story ends here....
And that was that... Oh, I allmost forgot: None of us ever saw or heard from that prospect ever again... As far as I heard he was told to move to the neighbouring country and never come back...
Anyways, my point was that this story is similar to yours, and it is what made me realize never to trust a 1%er or even worse their prospects.

I remember one hot summer day in North Charleston, S.C...a fine looking young gal was waiting on the steps of the trailer I shared with a room mate...He wasn't there and I had no key yet, so she offered to climb through the window because she had an urge to urinate...Never mind that the window was closed and she was wearing a blue jean mini skirt...
She was good with those old cranking trailer windows, and I tried my best not to look when she crawled through...I tried...
She let me in and took care of business, then took me to some bar for a beer...Dizzy Lizzy's...I heard rumors about it...They were true...Several patrons were wearing their Colors, but they were cool...it was the guy across the bar, staring a hole through my nose that I was concerned about...
"Oh, that's just my ex...he won't bother you"...She said the boys will protect her...
And he didn't bother me, and after a beer we drove back to the trailer...
    Head games...

Go and have FUN! Please don't believe the internet. I promise, and I believe Itchy would agree...These types of problems are extremely rare...even these instances didn't resort to violence (mostly because Itchy knows how to handle himself, but because if that, he has a much much higher rate of run-ins with a variety of MC Members). Everyone focuses on the negative....If I had a bike problem at Sturgis, I'd personally rather have that problem as near to another 1%er Camp Ground as possible...That's where the smart help, tools, and mechanics would be....And as long as I introduced myself appropriately, and clearly communicated my requests and intentions... I'd be a lot better off, than it happening infront of a HD dealership.
I promise on a stack of Bibles...If your intentions are sincere, and you have common sense manners...You will never have an issue. Be sincere and generally courteous and all will be good.
You might be surprised, in the most positive ways....and that's my Prayer for everyone....Good Vibes, with like minded people. You ride, your friendly, you're good.

Bikers and MC's are the least threatening to me. Unless you are wrapped up in the politics or have a big mouth you will be fine. They don't go around just randomly attacking people. I have seen more non biker fights in bars than vice versa.

The problem with the clubs is most of them are trying to one up the Hells Angels, and the people in the Hells Angels are trying to build a reputation. The Bandidos are bad and it doesn't Surprise me they would push a woman. You would not have been punched by the guy though, you would have been jumped by 3 or 4 and possibly been stabbed. So good move walking away. I am in Sacramento Ca and there are gangs all over. The Mongols are the ones that even if you are not bothering them you can be in bad trouble because they have no filter and no value for anyone that is not one of them. A funny story. A friend of mine who has a big issue with respect was in a bar in Hollister Ca having a beer. He had been riding for about 6 hours and was trying to relax. The Hells Angels come in and tell him to leave. He stands up and yells back that he has had a long day, he is finishing his beer, and NO ONE is going to stop him. He sits back down and drinks the beer, then grabs his stuff and leaves. On his way out one of them stopped him and asked to talk to him. He told him he had some guts and he liked his attitude and he should come by the club house in San Jose and hang out. He ended up becoming a full patched member. His reward was he got shot one time, and did a nice sentence in a california prison.

That’s stereotyping a bit. I know several Hell’s Angels that are hard working successful business owners, raising good kids, and they certainly don’t want to end up in prison. There are good guys & bad guys in every club.

This isn’t true for every 1%er, it happens in all walks of life, from clubs, jobs, cops, even churches have types. We’ve been trying to get that shadow off is for a long time, fight in court, lots of things to try to keep good RP. Independent riders need to go to their states CoC meetings and see what goes on, see what people are fighting for. It would open a lot of eyes. Word of advice, dropping club names is a disrespectful act.
The patch is a an honor, hard work to get, harder to keep. 95% of us, regardless of club name… care about good PR, we all have rules.
Glad my patch brothers treated you to a good time. Stay safe on 2 wheels, keep the tank side up and the rubber side down.

The life style that comes with being in a MC, isn't for me. It took me getting married and having two kids to raise, before I figured it out. That was 33 years ago, and I don't miss it at all. God bless me with a beautiful Wife of 32 years now, and a hard working intelligent Son and beautiful, intelligent, hard working Daughter. Ohh yeah and then there is My nine year old Grandson, who I spoil rotten without regrets. Those are my reasons for being born, and I wouldn't give it up for anything else the World. At one point I had some great friends in the club, but they are all basically dead now or in prison for the rest of their life.

Some of the surrounding campgrounds at Sturgis have a no colors policy, but Sturgis itself does not. You will see patched members and prospects from a variety of clubs walking around in Sturgis. Now I heard that Sturgis is supposed to be neutral ground but I don't know if that's true.

Hell man …. just stop that shinin , and put on yer leathers , and ride the shit ,outa , that bike , and then scrub the bugs outa yer nice stash ! Ride hard , dude , and enjoy , the beautiful day …. But ,your story , made me remember a crazy scene , I witnessed , it was right around Christmas , in 73-74 , down in Jacksonville , N.C. , and Santa was ringing his bell , and this 16 came out of a bar , nasty lookin tattoos all over his arms , looked like he did them , homemade , but stumbled up to Santa , with his arm pulled back , yellin “mother fu*ker you owe me 10 bucks” and Santa , stepped up to the 16 , and got in his face , and yelled in his face “ mother f*cker , I don’t owe you a GOTDAMN THING “
The drunk 16 just , sorta deflated , and stumbled away , and I thought , damn , Santa Clause , don’t take no shit , from anybody ! Laughin my ass off , I had never seen Santa , that pissed off at anybody …sayin to my fellow marine , I bet he don’t get shit from Santa , this year or the next , I was only 18-19 , just caught me off guard ….love your videos !
