Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Bloopers - Training monkeys to help the disabled

Capuchin monkeys, such as the ones featured in the “Night at the Museum” movies, are among the smartest small primates in the world. So smart that, since 1979, Boston University’s School of Medicine has supported and fostered a program founded by behavioral psychologist Mary Jane Willard to train capuchins to assist the disabled in their day-to-day lives. The program is called, Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers for the Disabled. And, as reporter Marcus Jones discovered when he interviewed Dr. Willard and her team of student trainers in August of 1989, managing the monkeys is no simple feat.
