I know you give turners like Richard Raffen tons of respect. And rightly so. Richard is an immeasurably talented wood turner. You, my friend are also ridiculously talented. You inspire a lot of turners sir. I shouldn’t speak for everyone, but I’m sure all would agree with my statement.

I agree 😁 Mr Raffan will always be the King "OG" for me....... But Tomi is a VERY close second in terms of skill, efficiency, tool control, and also teaching. I hold him in high regard, as I do other workers such as Mr Raffan. I've learned a LOT from both men, both have guided me well. I am a pure beginner, both lads videos teach me well 😁
Tomi seems to be a very modest man, I dony think he even realises how good he is, nor how helpful he is to noobs such as meself. He's one of those people that come along every generation or so, and will be remembered for generations to come 😁 ya know someone has pure skill in their hands when they make everything look easy, it's second nature to men like these lads.

@@whittysworkshop982 I agree 100%. I too am a relatively new turner. With so many different turners on CZcams to watch, these two men are in a league of their own. It’s funny that with the amount of talent they possess , and clearly are at the top of their field, they are both so incredibly modest and eager to show anyone everything they know. I’m just now getting to the point where I’m starting to sell things I make, and seeing how they price things has helped heaps too. And as a side note .. I love your user name. I sincerely hope that’s the name of your wood shop business. Your last name is Whitt I assume?

@@k9insomniac783 I'm basically brand new to turning, my skill lays in hand tool flat work, the type that woulda been practiced 100 years ago or more; out of date slow practices.... But, I love it with all my being 😁 my turning skills are more or less zero at this stage of my journey 😂 but I can relate to the way men such as these turners think; because I know quite a bit about hand tool work, I nearly feel it's my duty to try and pass it along to lads younger than me, to help keep it alive. The average age of wood turners in Ireland is about 63........ Bringin new people to the craft is important for its future, and I feel the same way about hand tool flat work. Lads such as Mr Raffan and Tomi are tryna keep it alive, and introduce it to new people, along with sharing what they know before we eventually leave this place. The meaning of life, for me; is to share what you know to all who will listen....... Exactly what these lads are doing, I think that's why I like them so much 😁
My surname is Whitty, a name common to the southeast of Ireland. Before that (MANY years ago) it was an English name, and before that I think it came from a Norman Viking name, but I'm not positive.

Beautiful pieces Tomislav. I see many areas where I need to hone my techniques, particularly with using the tip of the gouge as you did for the coves. It was also very instructive to see how you sand to avoid sanding away the crisp details. You answered my question before I asked it when you softened the edges of the piece.

I'd like to give an artist critique. Squared circle shape, wood choice, excellent workmanship, love those aspects. The embellishment on the bottom is well done, however it may benefit from "less is more" perhaps one button, cove and fillet on each side of cove. Sort of a mirror of the top to codify the overall design. The curvature of the grain related to how the top/bottom of plate is oriented is "lifting" the plate, it might be nice to have the curve down "anchoring" the plate to the table. As usual it is a pleasure watching your videos. This is not intended as negative.
