Thank you for non-sponsored, trustworthy reviews. I am in deep search for capturing my road trips, but only the road and surroundings, possibly with an action camera mounted on the windshield, inside.
Ace Pro and this one is my remaining contenders, particularly for creating watchable night time driving videos. Would appreciate your suggestions, including a completely different one. Thanks!
You’re welcome. For your use case of mounting on a windshield, it would be difficult to mount the Pocket 3 due to the form factor of the camera/gimbal.
The Ace Pro does do well in low light but EIS (FlowState) does require a shutter speed of about 1/200 or faster to work properly. I have found with action cameras they often work fine with stabilization turned off if they are securely mounted to the car/windshield. The car itself can help absorb some of those micro jitters.
If you film in 30fps with a shutter speed of 1/60 in low lighting with an ISO Max of about 800, this can often give great results if driving in urban areas at night.
The Pocket 3 would handle this with no problem due to the mechanical stabilization but I think the form factor would be the challenge.
Would this setting work if I video a drive through display or would you do a different setting if I mount it on a car.
These same settings should work. One additional tip is maybe do a quick test with filming in 30fps and a shutter speed at 1/60 instead of 24fps at 1/50 shutter speed. The 30fps and 1/60 shutter speed may help to further reduce the lighting flicker.
Nice video ❤
Thank you
