SQUARERULE FURNITURE - Making a Three Legged Stool

Sdílet

  • čas přidán 9. 06. 2021
  • This is the third original bar stool from Square Rule.
    The design looks similar, but please pay attention to the leg angle and overall proportion.
    Designed to be more robust and reliable for use.
    I used a hand tool more than a machine because I wanted to use a spoke shave and a knife.
    (The video looks like a lot of machine use, but in reality, there is much more time using manual labor.)
    It was a lot of fun cutting, trimming and fitting wood. :)
    Thank you for always watching.!
    Name : Three Legged Stool
    Material : White oak / Wanlnut
    Size : 330*330*580H

    Not only is your furniture exceptionally well designed and crafted, but despite being half way around the world, it feels like I'm sitting on a stool right next to you learning and understanding the art of woodwork. So thank you for that.

    Hello my friend. How are you? I hope all is well in South Korea.
    I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face whilst watching this. There’s something about projects like this really makes me want to try and make one. Your design is so elegant, but has really beautiful details such as the little tenons going into the domino mortice, the curved and flat shape on the legs, the little wedge to hold the rail in place… even the way you made the rails with a router; which is a fantastic idea by the way. When you put the finish on them at the end and made the grain pop, it really brought them to life. I must say that this was probably one of my favourite build videos from you so far. Your editing has come on leaps and bounds and you just show the right amount of detail whilst giving beautifully lit and well positioned shots. I take my hat off to you Sir; you truly are an inspiration, a genuine craftsman and an artist.
    All the best to you and your family.

      I'm a little lacking in angle calculation. It's not in the video, but I think I got the angle through many tests.

    How many days it took you to finish one furniture?

    • @squarerulefurniture
      @squarerulefurniture  Před 3 lety +1

      I have a lot to do in one day, so I don't know how long it will take. Except for the design, I think I can make 2-3 stools a week. (along with other little things, of course)

    Where can I buy a marking knife like the one you use?

    • @squarerulefurniture
      @squarerulefurniture  Před 3 lety

      One of the marking knives I use is the Veritas brand.
      The other was bought second hand.
      I know it's made in Taiwan.

    Beautiful stool but I don’t believe that it would be comfortable to sit on its flat top for long. 아름다운 의자이지만 평평한 상판에 오래 앉아 있으면 편할 것 같지 않습니다.

    • @squarerulefurniture
      @squarerulefurniture  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. Sitting for long periods of time can be a little uncomfortable.
      So, when designing, I lowered the height a bit, and when I was working on the details, I wanted to round more than the edge of the top plate, but I was a little more drawn to the overall detail.
      Thanks for the good comments.

      haha that's right.
      The shelf was sold a few years ago.
      I used spokeshave and wanted to use a planer.
      It was a lot of fun and hard work making this stool ^^;;
      I'm looking into wood lathes again.
      Thank you for watching.
