"Our 6-year-old son on Nov 8, 2022, was playing with his best friend, 1-year-old German shepherd Tank, in the front yard in South Florida. The front door neighbor's dog got loose and charged at our son, Tank pushed our son down and stood over him to protect him, and chased the other dog until the threat was gone. You can see our blue nose pitbull run out of the garage for backup but Tank had it under control. Our son was fine and the other dog was taken back home by his owner."

That good boi went from "playtime puppy-mode" to "get-down-Mr. President-mode" real quick. He gently nudged his boy down to protect the boy's neck from the gaping jaws of the other dog. That's pure protection instinct passed down from generations of his domesticated ancestors right there. Another score for team doggo vs team top cats on which is the better protector debate. I'm a cat person btw and this video blew my mind.

@@JD-gj2rj thank you for saying this! I agree. I really don't think that dog was trying to attack anyone. He wanted to play. Dogs in attack mode don't listen, they don't stop when they're told, they don't back off so easily. This dog had no interest in a fight. He saw a Lil boy and another dog and wanted to play. Labs are very excitable, energetic dogs, this is typical lab behavior, not aggression at all. Poor dog got a bad wrap for wanting to play. I understand it was probably scary to see a dog come running full speed at you, but body language can tell you everything. But I do like that the neighbor did the right thing, he was right behind the dog, trying to grab him, and he checked on the people right away, as he should, but there's too many people who don't care in this world. So it was nice to see him show concern for them instead of trying to make himself look better. It's obvious he didn't mean for the dog to get out, shit happens, but he handled it the best way he could.

It’s crazy watching this several times. The kid and his dog playing around and having fun. Suddenly the neighbors dog runs at the kid like a predator, kid sees the threat coming to him and freezes contemplating if he can get away. Then out of nowhere his German Shepherd friend (Tank) reacts with cool efficiency knocking him to the ground to prevent the dog from getting his neck and immediately acts in defensive mode for his boy by putting himself between his boy and the other dog looking back at him and keeping and eye on the dog to make sure it stays away. Tank is a perfect example of why dogs are man’s best friend. No Tank is more than this kids best friend, he’s his Guardian Angel.

Once the Lil boy and the dog came out, you can see the neighbors dog at the top of the screen, run out the fence or get away from the owner somehow, he was right behind the dog the whole time. Also, if you pay attention to the dogs body language, he doesn't seem to be in attack mode as much as play mode possibly, but he's very excitable and rough. I'm not even so sure he wanted to attack someone, he might have just wanted to play possibly. He gives up pretty quickly and runs home, tail wagging. Dogs who want to fight don't give up that easily. They'll fight. They font usually listen so well and back off so easily, which makes me wonder if the dog really was being mean or was just over excited and it was scary. I know how it sounded, but the growl was very short and dogs also do that when playing. I'm just not absolutely convinced that dog wanted to attack anyone. Maybe, but I'm doubtful.

This puppy needs to teach at Doggo Academy Security Division.Drop whatever you're doing and protect your hummie at all costs in a blink of an eye is his motto. He did everything right and a tragedy was avoided, definitely deserves rib-eye with ice cream dessert and don't forget his backup too.

I would've yelled at the guy, "if you can't control your dog, keep it on a leash"

The way the shepherd bit the other dog at 0:14, rendering him responding on the concrete where there is no friction, as the shepherd does a perfect 180 while still on the grass, checking the kid for more threats. That was insane!

Like he threw the dog away and checked the boy, saw the mum approaching and knew within half a second how to react.
