It is very nice to hear him priase MSV the great! But he shouldn't have said no one else could create multiple tunes in a short time - he and his brother Sridhar have gotten great songs from maestro Ilayaraja and everyone in the field has confessed IR creates tunes for all songs in a movie in 30-40 mins including alternate tunes if director doesn't like some. He mentioned Kamal & Singeetham Srinivasa Rao rejected 32 tunes and finally selected very first tune for Andhi mazhai pozhigirathu. Not trying to demean MSV, but comments like "no one else could" are not fair to IR who till now works in that mode - same true for RR/BGMs, he just plays once and has notations for all instruments. I heard in other video Trumpet Thomas saying no one even knows how to use brass and it is fading from use - he should have said those except MDs like Ilayaraja - who uses real instruments to produce sound. I am not able to understand why this conscious exclusion of a self-made genius? Whatever the reason is, it is wrong not to recognize a genius like ilayaraja when talking about contribution to film music.

I have seen people like Y G Mahendran while hailing MSV, will consciously avoid commenting about Ilayaraja's music - how many films Raaja has given wonderful songs and BGMs in which YGM acted (Moodu pani, Raaja paarvai, Garjanai, Murattukalai, Mounam Sammadam and list goes on). Hope reason is not caste-related!

Don't smear with caste painting for everything. YGM may have or may not have caste bias, that is not our concern. But his devotion to msv is truthful and from deep inside the heart. In fact, he claims that he is mad after MSV, Shivaji Ganesan and Nagesh. Are the other two also belonging to the caste you mean? Did YGM criticized ilaya raja while he praised MSV? ( no, to my knowledge ) perhaps, ilaya raja could not impress YGM with his music as much as MSV. That is his prerogative and taste. You can't force anybody to a particular taste. Example I can't enjoy ilaya raja songs very much while I can listen to MSV songs 1000s of times without getting bored. Every time I listen, some new thing I find which I missed in my previous listening. MSV songs are gold mine to me. This I miss in ilaya raja songs. This is neither my fault or ilaya raja's fault. He is commercially a most successful music director than even MSV. But I have to appreciate which I enjoy the most. Not based on somebody's commercial success or awards. I am not caste biased and not belonging to the upper caste. MSV is THE GREAT CREATER AND CAME FROM THE PLANET FILLED WITH ONLY MUSIC AND HONEY AND RETURNED BACK TO HIS PLANET. WE MISS HIM FOR EVER, EVER.

@@pragasamramaswamy1592 Everyone need not like Raaja's songs as people have different taste - but my point was if you talk about film music, especially tamizh film music, you cannot overlook contributions from MKT, GVR, CVS era, then KVM, MSV - same way you just cannot overlook Raaja's contribution to film music whether one likes him or not - period. It is absurd to make claims like no one but MSV can handle brass or compose tune in minutes - Raaja has done it for all the films he has worked for till date - he can write notations for singers, entire orchestra in 30 mins or less. Raaja doesn't need appreciation from YGM for e.g., he has reecived praise from Subbudu, Chemmangudi, BMK, Lalgudi, TVG, etal. Some of Raaja's classics like in Kadal Oviyam, Raaja Paarvai, Gunaa have been box office failures - yet those songs stand tall till date. So it was not all about commercial success.
