  • I'm not in agreement with Afenifere's position that President Tinubu should invoke an executive order to allow state police in Nigeria, however, I support their position that Nigeria must leave no stone unturned in its effort to end insecurity

Is the IGP not aware that there's abuse in the police, where they have abandoned their constitutional duties to carrying of bags etc.

I will support State police only if the amendments comes with other amendments like financial autonomy of state legislators and local government areas....these 3 amendments must go together simultaneously for the state police to work effectively.

Financial Autonomy is not enough..Judiciary will need Fed Police protection. Imagine the Court siding against the current Gov and the Gov controls the State Police. Appointment to the Force will be at the discretion of the Gov so lots of political appointments will take place up and down the State Police. If a new party wins, the Gov would want to change all the tops of State Police in his or her state. Lots to think about before we implement this in Nigeria
