God Charles was such a gem to this show, always fun and full of pep and usually had a good answer.
Devil Eye I loved all the things about the match game I loved all the celebrities especially Charles, Richard, Gene, Brett.

Gene was one of the most relaxed guys on TV. He was quite at home.
That was one of the things that Goodson and Toddman notice when he was on The Name Is The Same. How quickly he became at ease with being on tv.. Granted by then he had a Variety Show and a episode of Kukla, Fran and Olie under his belt. ;0)
Gene Rayburn was indeed the master. Richard Dawson became known as the kissing game show host but Gene Rayburn was at it long before Richard. But everyone wanted to kiss Richard because he was so cool.

This is week 127/291 of our favorite classic game show. These episodes were taped on December 27, 1975 and originally aired in late January 1976.
It's all familiar faces on the panel again this week! I like it when "old friends" come back for a visit!
Our stalwart regulars Charles, Richard, and Brett are joined by Fannie in the sixth seat.
Bill Daily returns for his fourth week (of 15 total). He's already 2 for 2 in the H/H match department, so one more match will "promote" him to the big leader board! It's been a long time since a new celeb cracked the big leader board, so that would be exciting if Bill pulls it off.
Also returning is Lee Meriwether, back for her third week (of 12). She hasn't yet played the H/H match.
Will Bill get another shot at the H/H match this week? What about Lee? Let's sit back, enjoy, and see what happens!
Before we start the week, one observation: When a week ends in the middle of a game (as last week did), it throws a bit of a wrinkle into the gameplay (in my opinion). Last Friday, the challenger had to match Jimmie, Elaine, and Marcia in her first round question. Today the champion will have to match Bill, Lee, and Fannie in her first round question. In situations like this, the two groups of celebs are never equal for both contestants (in other words, one group might have a celeb who rarely matches, and the other group might have a celeb who often matches, and that doesn't seem fair). Not a huge deal, but something to consider. (I'm honestly not sure which contestant got the better deal in this instance, though.)
Observation #2: That new "think music" was obnoxious and distracting!
Today's action:
A new week brings a new champion. (Gene has never said a contestant's name as frequently as he did today.)
Audience match question: "________ Fork"
The celebs: Richard (Knife and), Brett (Salad), and Charles (Pitch)
The choice: Pitch
The answers: Salad, Knife and, Pitch
It's not often that the third celeb chosen comes up with the top answer, and it's nice to see Charles give a brilliant response for the audience match, as all too often his suggestions (although often funny) aren't terribly helpful.
For the H/H match, the contestant chooses... Charles! (I imagine she must have been backstage "on deck" during the taping of the prior week's shows and saw CNR's H/H match in 628, as well as Richard not matching all three times last week. I'm not sure if any of that influenced her, because contestants often choose the celeb whose audience match suggestion they take, especially if it's the top response. Also, the contestant said that "pitch" was the first thing she'd thought of, so maybe she just feels like she and Charles are on the same wavelength.)
Today's H/H question: " ________ Collection"
I think this is hard. Stamp collection comes to mind, but I'm not thrilled with it.
Charles wrote quickly, but hesitated, and looked down towards Fannie and over to Brett, as if reading suggestions they may have written.
Huh. The contestant also says stamp. I'm a little bit surprised.
Charles begins a long digression - a sure sign he has the matching answer - and, sure enough, he'd written "stamp"!
Charles scores his 21st H/H match!
This is his second consecutive match, and his score now climbs ahead of Betty's! He's far and away the most successful H/H matcher of the three regulars, but he still has a way to go to catch Fannie.

(As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Whoever is chosen all the time by a certain "celebrity" and believes that "certain" celebrity wins everytime, they are wrong ! … Thank you Charles for being chosen by a contestant and winning ! Love the gorgeous Lee Merriweather ! :) :)

Not the 1st time or year this new 🎵 was used. But I thought they should use it alternately with the usual. Oooorrrr get a certain panelist to write her answer in a reasonable amount of time.

Oh did they premiere new music?
Yeah, they experimented with some new tunes in 1976. This one lasted about 6 months or so, then brought in the cowbell music, and that stuck for the rest of the series.

Change is always hard to take. Although they complained about the Think Music, it became such a standard that the new Think Music was hard to listen to.
This new music is awful. Please tell me they abandoned it soon.

I know it's been 46 years and I'll never find out, but there is one person who is ALWAYS in the audience, who yells in a high shrill voice, WOOOOOOOOOOO!, whenever anything racy is mentioned. How was it that the same person was in every single audience of TMG? Maybe it was an employee? A friend or relative of the regular panelists?
