    I worked at FedEx Office in my 20's. I loved book binding with glue. Pretty much did the same thing but there was a strong clamping device we used. Could probably make it at home. Also, if you ever wanted to save cutting time, if you have a FedEx Office near you, they can cut those for you. No idea what the price is now, but it was per cut. You tell them where, and they can do it!

    Has anyone ever suggested that you use HP Premium 32 paper and market them as fountain pen friendly? Or I guess you could buy other kinds of high quality paper for that as long as it takes the ink from your printer well.

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před rokem +1

      I have not heard that suggested yet but I love the idea! I've never used a fountain pen but I bet there would be a market for it. You can use just about any kind of paper with this project so definitely lots to experiment with! And if they are for personal use you don't necessarily need to print anything on them. I've made notepads with watercolour paper before! Thanks for your ideas! :)

      @luckysprout  Před 9 měsíci

    Love your tutorial. About how many sheets of paper do you print for each pad? These would make great teacher gifts or Christmas gifts.

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před rokem +2

      Thank you! Since my paper is a little thicker than normal printer paper (28 lbs), I do 30-32 sheets per pad. If I was using standard weight printer paper (which I think is 20 lbs), I'd probably aim for more like 35-40 just to reach that ideal density! You could probably do even more pages if you wanted, but this number makes the pad look substantial enough in my opinion.

    Would widening the border eliminate the need to trim all the way around? Thank you for sharing what and how you do what you do!

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před rokem

      If you have a printer that can print edge-to-edge, that would definitely eliminate the border and need to trim! Alternately I think you could create a design with an intentional border. Probably lots of creative ways to work around it. Thanks for watching & your feedback, I appreciate it!

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I do 32 pgs for the small ones (4 per pg when printing) and 30 for anything bigger! This is for the 28lb paper I use, so if you're using more standard printer paper, you might want to go up to 40 😊

  • @houwaidabashir
    @houwaidabashir Před 10 měsíci +2

    Hi, thanks for detailed video, can I know the sitting of the printer that you used? I have Epson eco tank but the color on plain paper I didn’t like it.

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi! When I hit print, I go into Printer Settings > Print Options > and pick the highest print quality option there. But a lot of the time the colour issues with my printer are when the graphic is CMYK vs RGB colours. In Procreate, I draw all my illustrations in CMYK and the colours print out nicely. In Canva, I always export as RGB because someone told me Canva does a bad job converting into CMYK, so I let my printer do the conversion instead. I have tested this out and got one version very dull and one very bright and nice. So I'd say try different colour profiles on your images and see if that helps too! I hope that's helpful ☺️

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Sure! I just put the link in the video description for the ones I use. They end up being a little bit wider than the notepad (the ones I have are 5x7 inches) but that doesn't bother me; if you want an exact fit I'd just try searching on Amazon (or wherever else) for clear resealable cello bags in the exact size you need, or nearest size up. :) Hope that helps!!

    Could I possibly ask what thickness or pt. of chipboard you use? Its the one thing I can't find an answer to and my notepads are so flimsy! But I don't want to spend a fortune buying the wrong weight! I would so appreciate any insight you could offer...

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před 25 dny

      Hi! The chipboard I get is labelled as "0.040 inch" thickness. I get it in big sheets from Deserres art store. I'm not sure if that's a standard way to measure the material, but that's what mine says. They also have a thicker version which I think is 0.060 inches. Hope that helps at all!!

    My biggest problem is I design in Canva and even though I set margins for my pads, none of them prints out to the size I wanted. I also have borders on my designs and center my designs say 3 to a page and they also don’t come out the same - any suggestions- I use an Epson Tr2850

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Před 6 měsíci

      That's so frustrating! When I've had this problem it has been because the printer wasn't printing at 100% - either reduced or enlarged my design. So maybe check in the print window if that's happening?

      Hi! I linked the exact paper that I use in the video description, but I looked it up and I'm using US Letter paper size, which is almost the same as A4! You can always use whatever your printer likes, though. I think it's most important to get a paper slightly thicker than normal printer paper, which is why I use 28 lb (105 gsm). I found it at my local office supply shop so it shouldn't be too hard to track something down comparable. I hope your notepad business takes off! :)
