    For those who don't know, the paper tickets have "chips"--for lack of a better word--inside them. So you tap them the same way as the plastic card. So if you initially take the train first to a bus, you'll tap the paper ticket just like the plastic card for payment.

    I always assumed the reason they call it contactless is because before you would have to insert your card into the readers as opposed to tapping it on the screen. The best bonus with contactless is you don't have to worry about someone having installed a skimming device on the chip readers and stealing your money on that card.

    I have actually found that you don’t need to take it out of your wallet to tap, if it’s physically in your wallet and you tap in the right area with the hop card, it still works
