I did this at the end of summer last year in about 2 and 1/2 hours with my G56 still in place! You just need 5 ft. Long arms and to be able to see thru metal! I used my scope which helped a lot but it was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be after hearing all the stories online! But truck runs well under 200* while towing so totally worth it! I did use a air chiseled very carefully for a few sacks to start the freeze plug but like i said I was looking at it there my scope! Also cut a cheap Home Depot hammer off just big enough to grab with one hand which was a game changer!
Yes sir. By far the most work detailed video on this fleece kit! I’d give it two thumbs up if I could!!!! It was nice to see you take the time to figure out how to set the camera up at the best angles to show exactly what was going on!!

My bypass is being delivered today. I have 2 pyrometers front 3 and back 3. When towing I see higher and higher temps on the back 3 when the pull is longer or harder. also seeing higher overall engine temps, which I think this will help. Can't wait to see how much.
Great information BUT I almost left the video due to the repetitive music cycling over and over like a tortuous assault on my brain. The music doesn’t add to the content and no one listens to how to videos for the music content. After watching your video, I think I can do this too! From another veteran, thanks for your service.

Hey guy thank you for all your service to our country you’re in your tutorial on that bypass was really good I’m thinking about doing something like that with my old 91 Dodge but I’m gonna get another piece to my thermostat and all that goes to the part where the radiator hose hooks onto an experiment on putting a bang there so a guy can hook a hose up to that and anyhow yeah yeah they won’t make that stuff for us first GEN guys are they hate us don’t know why but they do anyway a thank you again and again thank you for your service to our country
My worst concern would be removing the freeze plug. Another question is just to eliminate the heat exchanger all together and run hoses straight from AT to the cooler in the front?
I'm doing this soon on my rebuild, but I'm not buying into the "it's not needed" thing that Fleece puts out about the Heat Exchanger. Everywhere I look, the people who think it wasn't "needed" end up coming back complaining about how the transmission runs like crap after pulling it out. It's not there for extreme cold. It's there to warm the fluid up so you can have normal shifts sooner, and more importantly, so you don't shred the clutch packs out when it's hot. It's listed as "transmission cooler" not "warmer" in the FSM. Let us know how it helped you out with the temps though. I've heard from V-Belt & Son that it just slows down how quickly the motor builds heat on long pulls. Even running a 6.7 in an empty school bus myself -- the thing went over 230 degrees when it was 60 degrees outside (F)... SO yeah, definitely think it's needed.
Thanks for the comment. I have never seen the TFT hit 180 degrees yet… thats towing 3 atvs or 16ft boat at 80 degrees outside max. High 170s going uphill. The transmission is a weak link when you start adding ho and increasing line pressure. It will break and cause bigger issues.
I have been looking at doing this on my 2001. Has it helped any with towing in hot temps? As others have said nice that you showed how to actually do the work.
Thermostats can last for over 100k miles . I’d just keep up with the coolant flushes to keep the system clean and replace it whenever you replace the stock location one. Fleece sells a service kit for it. Thanks for watching!

I’d say no because I hear people saying it would run to cool, and cause what they call washing the cylinder. It would just be an open loop to the radiator and never come up to temp. Don’t quote me on the washing the cylinder thing. I just know you want some type of heat in the engine

Did it helped bro? Mines towing hard goes up to 215 or 220 but my fan clutch is deleted but wannna do the bypass and put radiator with fans

Only use fail Safe thermostat when they break they break in the open position and you can keep on trucking and regular thermostat breaks closed

Did you remove the bracket that holds the motor to the transmission to get to the freeze plug ?

Did you bleed the coolant? If so, how did you do it?
Just drained and topped off. No bleeding afterwards and no issues!
