Had a great day fishing Bald Knob Lake! Caught a lot of quality bluegill and shell cracker using a Bison colored Trout magnet. Colors on these fish are beautiful. Rod was a 63 TenRyu Lunakia ML, and reel was the Zenon 2000SH. It was fantastic to be back on the water! Hope you all enjoy the video….thanks for watching!

Woo Hoo and Shoot Fire back in the saddle again. Glad to see you back out and sore lippin them properly! I have the Lunakia in the 6.10 length and really like the action.
Thanks for watching Stan.
I think redear are the strongest fighting fish in the sunfish family. I have them in my pond and there’s none in my local Texas lakes. I have to drive a little over an hour to east Texas to find a lake with them. They get huge in lake Havasu in Arizona. Havasu is the world record mecca for redear. Many world records from there. I’d love to go there someday but I never will. Poor man’s dreams.
Thanks for watching...
That is a gorgeous looking lake and some pretty fish. This lake looks very supportive of panfish population with that shallow bank and grass. If only people would stop harvesting them for a year…
Thanks for watching Victor. I have completed the scanning of the whole 217 acres and there are very few bluegill beds on the lake. The problem with this lake is they can take 50 bluegill a day. It has been fished out.
@@troutmagnetman i got into an online fight with someone yesterday who loaded his whole pick up truck with 10" bluegill from Louisiana. In this aspect the culture in the South is much worse than in the North and the Coasts. Limits there are very strict in the first place, but people are not out to harvest every fish they pull out of the water
CZcamss not the same without you Randy . It was a pleasure watching this . Can't wait to see you sorted and back where you belong . Providing the best videos on CZcams .
Thanks for your support of the channel and the kind words.
I had a similar experience with Minn Kota. Brand new motor was defective, they wanted me to drive 2 hours to bring it to a service center. You can imagine how happy I was.
those fish definitely got shoulders on em. healthy looking.
Thanks for watching,....
Good to see you out fishing again Randy. Miss your JDM Rod reviews.
Thanks....
So glad to see you fishing again Randy! I need to make more time.
Thanks Matt....
Can't beat the thump and drag singing, thanks for the video!
Thanks much...
Mr Randy I'm sure glad to see you fishing again, it was real good to hear the excitement in your voice, good fish there it reminded me i need to get out and fish, keep them coming when you can
Good to hear from you....thanks for watching
Glad you got back out on the water. Ive been curious about I_fish's jigheads but I prefer a #8 hook.
Thanks much...just got some of his jig heads yesterday....pretty darn good hook.
"Mr. Shoot Fire" is back. Love watching and learning from you. Enjoy.
Thanks much...
Randy, it's good for everyone's health to see you back in action. Missed seeing you stick big Bluegill. Many thanks to you and Ron for this episode. Look forward to your opinion of the BG-1 jighead. The hook is definitely jdm sharp.
Thanks Gary.....
Love it, Randy! You always find the nice fish, no matter where you are. So nice to hear that drag peeling! Hope you guys do this again real soon.
Thanks for watching and the kind words.
I_fish 1g jigheads are great. Definitely comparable to Daiwa Gekkabijin jigheads. His hooks are needle like sharp. And fit the trout magnets perfect, imo. Size 12 hooks seem to be doing great on the trout(stocked), crappies, and big gills. Havent lost a fish yet,but.. Anyways great, informative video, keep up the excellent jdm fishing content also. Look forward to seeing more.
Also Bison colored trout magnets seem to catch a ton of fish, especially big gills on and off beds
I just got an order of the BG-1s today. Yes… they are SUPER sharp.
Thanks much for watching...
Give VARIVAS Super Trout Area Master Limited, Super Premium PE, 25.4 ft (75 m), No. 0.15, 4.5 lbs a go Randy !!! Its a good line and comes in neo yellow or pink . Its a 4 strand braid and comes in as low as pe 0.15 . I also use Gosen Fata Resonator which comes in a pe 0.12 (im currently using ) and i think a pe 0.9 . I know you use Varivas product but it doesnt come in a lower pe rating unfortunately . I prefer the Gosen (can be fiddly to tie leaders in the wind ) but still use the Varivas line too . Its nice and fine and extremely sensitive . When it comes to fishing rods with micro guides and jig heads of 1 gram and lower the cast can become choked . These superfine pe lines solve this problem . My 21 corto prototype is the reason i got these fine braids and has really opened my eyes to the right line for the right rod and application . I use jig heads as light as 0.3 grams sometimes and even with 1.3lb Varivas ester line and a 0.12mm fluorocarbon leader , the cast is choked a little with anything of 1 gram and under .
Will check it out....thanks for watching.
You know, Randy, i dont think size 12 hook will lose u many fish but practically speaking can be a nuissance to handle on the water. I superglue them at home with some good lights, but if u doing this on the water it may be a choir. Give me a couple months and i will send u some in size 10.
Thanks Victor...
I cut mine down and use a 1/80 #10 hook ,buy bulk .Number of hookup goes up.when bite gets slow
Thanks for watching.....I only use Japanese jig heads and no buying in bulk for those.
Randy would a sliding sinker Carolina rig work with trout magnet for deep water? Or how could I use it when trying to get down to the bottom in deep areas
You could do that but in my opinion you're better off using some Ester line....which sinks...and either a 1.5 gram or 2 gram jig head. Just curious what you call deep.
How do u use the power wrigglers?
Just cut them in to about 4 pieces from one Wiggler and tip the jig with it. Thanks for watching....
Randy have you looked into a phenix ultralight rod?
Yes...at one time I owned 2 of them.......good rods but not up to what we get out of Japan for same price.
New to your channel. You say that you don’t normally like fishing with nylon line. What type of line do you like to fish with?
For panfish I love using Ester line. It can have manageability issue but the reward is well worth it. Sensitive as braid and it sinks. Thanks for watching.
Randy, do you who built the original Trout Slayer Series rod for Leland Lures? I broke the tip on mine and would like to find and buy another tip. I called B&M and they said they didn’t build that rod. Hope you are having a good day. Thank you.
Trout Magnet did that rod. But I doubt they have any rods or tips left but give ‘em a try anyway.
You’re right they don’t have any tips. Do you know if the TCB rod they sell now is the same rod? Weight and action? I really like the original! If you talk to Jeff at LL ask about finding a tip fir the original rod. Thank you. Raining here in West AL so can’t fish today :(
Just real curious why you built retirement home so far away from some place to fish. I built one because of exwife but stayed for the school system for my children (they chose to live with me...judge ask 5 yr old son why? answer Daddy will bust my butt if I misbehave. If not for that my fishing places would be nearer. I actually move away from fishing 5 min away farm pond lake and rivers 15 min away .now 45min to 1 1/2 hrs away . Now injured and disabled don't want the hassle of resettling again.
The Little Red River is only 30 minutes away with world class trout fishing. Ive been retired for 24 years so this is not really a retirement home...LOL.
