It's hard to believe that the Ozzy/Randy Rhoads duo only lasted a couple of years. Together they recorded The Blizzard of Oz (1980), and the follow up album Diary of Madman (1981). We are still talking and listening to these two albums over 40 years later. The exploding Heavy Metal scene alongside MTV definitely helped cement this dynamic duo together. Whenever we hear Ozzy's name we picture Randy's polka dot flying V playing the classic Metal riff to Crazy Train. Randy Rhodes untimely tragic death in his prime also cemented him as a Rock n Roll guitar legend alongside Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix.
This guitar solo is really cool. It shows everything great about Randy's playing. The opening Octave riff has that classic metal sound with the emphasized tritone riff. It then breaks out into a classic style scale run. It then morphs into a classic blues lick and ends with Eddie Van Halen style Wammy bar madness.
The secondary guitar part plays the first 8 bars of the solo exactly the same one Octave higher

-The Text on the screen was overlapping, it basically says to double the first part of the solo an octave higher
When the band stops playing to let the legendary Randy plays alone. Great work Jimi!
Ozzy once recalled that when Randy first started working & writing with the band
“What we both worked out, we discovered that every heavy metal band sticks to one key…And he said to me that most guitar players in modern bands play over A or G or whatever, and they fluctuate between that.
“So, we made a rule that every number that we recorded on an album was never played in the same key. It’s a different key in every number.“
He also said, it was confirmed by Zakk Wylde, that Randy’s solos tended to have their own section, or went up a key!
Nicely done!
Outstanding work! Really well done Jimi.

Hey Vrocknet, thanks for reminding me. I'll post it on Dec 4th EST. That'll give me the weekend to learn it. Zeppelin's my favorite band so this one will be fun.
@@jimiwolfsolos3119Hey Jimi thanks! - wondering about the tuning, at very the least, I think hi e is tuned to d?
@@vrocknet The main slide guitar is a 12 string guitar tuned to open G (D, G, D, G, B, D). The guitar solo is in standard tuning
Hey Vrocknet, I'm going to move the Led Zeppelin video posting to Dec 6th, my apologies, it's almost done.
