Whims and jinkers shows the story of timber getting in Australia in the days of steam and bullock teams. The timber was processed at steam powered saw mills and used in the building of early Australian infrastructure and buildings.

After a person sees this video you must appreciate the incredible hard labor it took to harvest timber before the introduction of the chainsaw in the 1950s, no wonder people's bodies wore out so soon. This is a valuable and historical video of the evolving of the timber industry in Australia, similar to the US, but with some different equipment innovations.

In the USA, all our large trees are gone, except a few in Parks. Does Australia have any really large trees like this left?

All our big trees have now gone and the only log regrowth forrests now. Any existing big trees are now protected.

seeing a big tree in australia is relatively rare, there is however some untouched wilderness and forests never settled.
