- Over the last few decades, computer hardware has evolved in ways we can’t even begin to describe.
From mice and monitors to graphics cards, CPUs and everything in between, our modern machines are far removed from the gray blocks of our parents.
But there is one piece of computing hardware that has survived the test of time, having barely changed. Some might even go as far as saying this particular device was actually better 30 years ago than it is today.
I’m talking, of course, about every gamer’s favourite punching bag - the keyboard.
Thanks to hobbyists, flourishing reddit communities, and the growing influence of esports and streaming, we’re experiencing - a keyboard renaissance.
And at the center of it all is Nathan 'Taeha' Kim - a 26-year old software engineer turned keyboard messiah, whose love of peripherals knows no limits.
In just a few years, Taeha has become to keyboards what Salvador Amezcua is to basketball shoes. What Hattori Hanzo is to Japanese steel.

@@TaehaTypes have you snagged one yet? If not, I recommend one from the early 40’s or earlier. Keyfeel, in general, is super nice on older ones. I use an early Underwood Model S personally, so I can vouch for its quality.

I don't see how someone can break a custom keyboard that has a thick aluminum body and brass weight. I mean those keyboard cases are HARD and HEAVY. Weighing around 1.5 to 2kg. If they tried to headbutt those keyboards like what was shown in the intro of this video. The guy would die of head

i thought the same but now i dont have enough money for drugs , keyboard parts are expensive as fuck.
I got into mechanical keyboards 2 years ago with a college senior of mine "peer pressuring" me into buying his basic MX Brown G.Skill gaming full size board but I built my first fully custom keeb just last week! Cost me $200 but it was so worth it! I type on it every day so it's so worth the investment! I did everything from lining and filming switches and even doing the holee mod on the stabilizers! Took me 2 full days but it's so nice!
I don't think I can go back to that basic MX Brown board again!

Been a fan of Taeha since early 2019 and his growth has been nothing short of amazing. Seeing his name get thrown around everywhere after the Tfue build was surreal and I'm so happy he got the breakthrough he deserved.

So I have heard within academia there is a particular chalk that is prestigious. A relatively humble tool, but from the vibe given by this video, Taeha may have then maneuvered himself as the Hagoromo of esports.

Just to throw it out there there has been a DIY/MK community ever since the IBM M type keyboards got harder to find back in the late 90's. But it's nice to have easily available options to the e-waste membrane kb's that most people have, even if it is yet another rabbit hole to throw time and money into. Nice to see Taeha get a shout out too!

I have a old razer keyboard that I've used for 8 years. Its still pretty much brand new. Kinda crazy honestly. I've pressed the space bar probably a million times or more. And it shows no sign of ware and tear.
This man is the main reason for me to get into the custom mechanical keyboards hobby, almost $1000 spent on keyboard parts later I can say that I love custom keyboards too.
as much as I find the tfue keyboard to be such an eyesore(not even gmk striker can save what's going on with that case's colors), I'm still glad it happened. nathan deserves the exposure, really cool guy that makes very chill and great content. not to mention that its also great for the hobby.

There are some but a lot of them are pricey. I also don't really use it because keyboard hobbyist also love nice cables

@オスマンサス not an issue anymore. Ones like the Logitech g915 has as much latency as wired. The downside is you kinda don’t truly get the custom keyboard experience.
Prices isn’t much of a concern if you are in custom keyboard since all of them will be very expensive
@オスマンサス yea but the g915 is 200 dollar (yes the keycap and other stuff like that aren’t s good but you are getting a very good wireless mode)
@オスマンサス I have the g915 for 2 years already and never had an issue with it. Not sure what you mean by reliability issues. I also play competitive games like cs:go on global elite(highest rank) and I don't see any difference with a wired keyboard.
Keep in mind, even pros play with the g915 and those people run after the best hardware all the time.
