    Bought the kit direct from Timesert ... worked like a charm..I'm Handy with a wrench but not a mechanic .. None of the vids or instructions clear on the depth you tap so was nervous about that but used best judgement ...time will tell how it lasts...if I blow another I'm ready for it

      keeglitt1 Run the tap until it gets to the bottom. The reamer tool should be run down until it stops to form the seat. Find out about the seat tool if you should run it down until it spins free.

    Started my car, drove for about three miles with my mustang real low on power and sounding like a Harley Davidson. Popped the hood while it was running and I could see light coming from under the COP in cylinder 3. No tools around so I can't remove it right now, but I got my fingers crossed that my threads aren't stripped.

    just buy the heli-coil tool.....if it comes out the next time you replace the plugs....insert new insert and install new plug.

      JustGoogleIt When THAT happens, the hole will be enlarged and require a BIG-SERT!

      Why not just fix it correctly the first time? Spend a little more money now to save more money in the future.

    Is this kit p/n 5553? This is different than your other video.?v=Ntiy8L97Nco. What type of head was in that one, it looked similar.
    I ordered 5553 today, comes in 48 hours so I have my weekend project.
    These videos are going to be very helpful. Thanks for the cutaway views.

    @supermotofreak14 easier to get from ebay then to find it in Canada. Wurth is the distributor in Canada but good luck finding a way to buy from them. Timesert site says Fastenal has them but that is not true in western Canada. great products, wish I could get them more reliably :)

    99 F250 4X4 5.4 360,000 km just lost the front driver side plug. Two weeks before I heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. If you hear this, it is the sound of a loose plug. CKECK YOUR PLUGS......or you will be here.

      Try a lot of WD-40 in the spark plug hole and work it back and forth to loosen it. Let the WD-40 soak for a day. EBAY has a tool to remove the plugs.

    My 6.8L V10 in my '98 Ford E-Super Duty (E450) hasn't had an issues yet but I am thinking buying this kit and bringing it with me on my upcoming road trips wouldn't be a bad idea. Or would it be worth doing for all 10 cylinders before the issue arises?

    • @martystevens3969
      @martystevens3969 Před 6 lety

      JeepCollector91 It's a good kit to have! Bring along a new spark plug also. Check if your engine is easy to install these on all cylinders. Maybe have a mechanic to replace all of them. If they pop out, install a Big-sert. Check insert reach depth for your plugs. Use wheel bearing grease to catch shavings. Use an EZ out to remove inserts and helicoils.

      On long trips, yep. Fixing an AWOL plug is actually quite easy & simple on the side of the road. Don't forget spare plug & coil.
