- Here's a great instructional video on how to make a glue, water, and flour mixture to dip fabric and crocheted or knitted objects in to stiffen them so they can hold their shape.
Check out my Etsy Shop for more cool bowls www.etsy.com/s...
very interesting video. I believe I will mix the flour and water in a blender, then add the glue. That should quickly and easily eliminate the flour lumps. Thanks for this great tip/technique.
Thank you for posting this video. You did a wonderful job.
Thanks for the video... Keep crafting, you do a great job!
Thank you so much for this! My dad is making a model ship and needs stiffened fabric for the sails. This looks like the perfect method!
I'm a lot late, but he could try a product called Paverpol. Dip fabric in, arrange as you like as it dries. Hard enough to use outside (as in sculptures etc). Also waterproof.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any help you can give me
@Ezekiel Seth instablaster =)
@Alan Rudy I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Alan Rudy it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
what parts flour/water/glue? i want to make a smaller batch
Thank you
Loved the video! Which glue did you use? Can I use white glue/german glue for my crochet basket, it is pretty big
Maryam Essam I used an Elmer's glue-all, which is usually a little thicker and stronger than the typical white school glue because it doesn't break apart in water as easily after the glue mixture dries. Most white glue that dries clear should work though
I also make bowls. I do other kinds of art and love To see other artist work. I just went to your Etsy sight and you do have some lovely work for sale. I wanted to ask you how stiff are your bowls once dry.? And if I wanted to make a small amount -say 1 cup - for 1 item could that be done? Also could this mixture be brushed onto a fabric bowl that is set in a mould first?
You are very creative. I'm impressed.
Can I stiffen wool craft with glue
Hey would this work on stiffening up a guitar strap end? Specifically where the strap meets the strap button on a guitar?
I'm making a small project that needs the "rope" stiffened. The rope is actually a crocheted chain of triple thickness, and is about 4 feet long. I do not need a large amount of stiffening agent. Do you have measured amounts that could be either reduced or increased as needed?
just divide it
Can we use any type fabric n color
question can i do this to my BANDANA ? it is a regular bandana does any one know
How stiff does this method make the fabric? Like how much would it take to bend it?
NEED TO KNOW!
The Girl In The Shadows it depends on how thick your water/flour/glue mixture is. You can make the fabric end up stiffer by using less water and a bit more glue.
Thank you so much!
will this work without glue?
No
What kind of flour did you use?
fitriani agustina p I just used a regular, all-purpose flour
After the bowls dry can they be washed?
No, glue is still relatively water soluble after it is dried. If you want to be able to wash it or get it wet, you would probably have to dip or coat your bowl in a thick two-part epoxy resin or something else that won't break down with water.
@@alisonhuffman Paverpol. amazing product.
is it able to do this without flour ?
Angie Ng technically you can dip things in just glue to make it stiffer, but it may end up a lot more brittle. The flour and water help make things a little more flexible when they're dry, and they seem less likely to crack if the object you stiffen is bent after the glue dries
U r looking good
