hey joshua ~ charcuterie boards are so intimidating but you made it comprehensive & possible. i made one for my hubs for valentine's day. i made the pickled onions & the gastrique; i heard you say water, however down below in the listing of ingredients, it did say vinegar. i used vinegar. everything was fabulous. hubs loved it & nibbled all day on it. btw: i live in Panama & found everything i needed. we have lots of imported food items. nom nom nom thanks for you help. xo ♥ s
Just found your channel and I’m so excited to see what’s coming up! Lol Love your humor and appreciate your expertise and creativity. Aloha from Hawaii!
This was the most perfectly timed video. I was prepping a cheap ass charcuterie board for a little family bday today. You helped give me some much needed inspiration!! I quick pickled some carrots and red onion from my garden, took out some of my homemade strawberry jam, & toasted up some salted cashews and honey spiced walnuts. Thanks for helping me class it up a notch 😄
Another idea for the cream cheese: my mom makes what she calls “Jezebelle” sauce. Mix blackberry (or whatever fruit) jam and horseradish to desired zippiness. Pour over cream cheese. TRUST ME!!!
You are so great! Definitely reminiscent of Alton Brown! As a fellow chef, I'm happy to see you shine and share your knowledge( I learned something!) Plus your video is clean, informative, and funny. Keep doin what you're do Chef Josh!
You can also mix the cheaper options with some expensive products you are willing to splurge on, like I always use honey because I love it, even if makes it a little bit more expensive it still won't cost me over 100 to make a good board with things that I love
I make easy pickled onions by saving dill pickle juice in the jar (once I've eaten the pickles, of course!) Add the onions and let it marinate in the fridge for 2 or 3 days. So easy and so yummy!
You are truly blessed my friend. In our poor Asian country 50g of Prosciutto slices would cost $200 USD, assuming you can afford to be allowed to get inside the "exclusive and exotic groceries section" in some Plaza Hotel/Mall that usually the top 1% rich shop at.
You are such a nerd and I’m all over it!! Love it!! I would never go the cheap way! You got me!! I thought you were gonna talk about the different places and places where you could purchase the meat and cheese! This was an amazing video either way!
The way he pronounces "Gouda" is actually very good, he really hits that hard G in there which is hard for English people to do, so well in! -sincerely, a Dutch person
I don't think we hear too many people pronounce the cheese here in America so like with any language, when you've never heard someone say an unfamiliar word and you've only read it, you're going to pronounce it with a guess, lol. Then YOU become the source that others use to pronounce it and thus it spreads. This is my first time ever finding out that I too was saying the cheese wrong.
I used to make "dips" out of cream cheese. like split it into 3rds and make one a roasted garlic cream cheese, one be herb and oil and the last one do a spin on a goat cheese tomato dip. Always fun to mix and match flavors and add different crackers/breads to those :)
I once took my niece to a Girl Scouts meeting, and the one thing I remember about that meeting is that I got introduced to the combination of cream cheese with salsa, on wheat thins. Like, my brain had "salsa with sour cream" and "cream cheese with wheat thins" but had never thought to cross categories, as it were.
You know I would be very curious to see you make candy. Watching these really teaches me how certain things are made and has actually motivated me to stay away from certain food just because I know know how much sugar is in them.
I like to do these when we start a D&D campaign or I know we'll be spending time in a tavern, bonus if I have time to make fresh bread and have mead on hand. The immersion is just *chef's kiss*. I hope we can meet again in person some day.
This year for my birthday my boyfriend took me on a picnic and made me a charcuterie board. He spent like $50 and it was the best thing I’ve had in a long time. He put so much effort into it and the lady at shop rite was so helpful
To improve the cream cheese, you can mold it into a circle and after you place it on the board...pour pesto over the top. Or, later the pesto and cream cheese in a dish .
A lot of people are trying to make things as expensive as possible, but I actually really like Josh’s take on this. I like the idea of taking already expensive items and making them readily available to the public.
Great idea! The other day i made a charcuterie board along with some paninis and beverages and it cost me around 50 dollars honestly it was a great meal and for 5 people
Mt wife and I eat an even cheaper version of these every few days as a snack to go with binge watching. Literally the same principle, just with Aldi brand stuff. Still excellent and incredibly easy. Added bonus of being healthier than popcorn or a bag of chips.

I love David. Anyone who crosses this comment should watch him. He's so "us", trying to do so "them."
I really don't like Seymour's style. The character feels forced and he only redoes other people's recipes. I don't doubt he's a good cook, but it doesn't feel authentic.
VOMIT cheese? David is out
A nice Indian spiced cranberry chutney is supposed to be good poured over cream cheese. I have made the chutney and slathered it on a grilled cheese sandwich but not tried it with cream cheese yet
hey joshua ~ charcuterie boards are so intimidating but you made it comprehensive & possible. i made one for my hubs for valentine's day. i made the pickled onions & the gastrique; i heard you say water, however down below in the listing of ingredients, it did say vinegar. i used vinegar. everything was fabulous. hubs loved it & nibbled all day on it. btw: i live in Panama & found everything i needed. we have lots of imported food items. nom nom nom thanks for you help. xo ♥ s
Just found your channel and I’m so excited to see what’s coming up! Lol
Love your humor and appreciate your expertise and creativity.
That sounds great! How did it go?
Another idea for the cream cheese: my mom makes what she calls “Jezebelle” sauce. Mix blackberry (or whatever fruit) jam and horseradish to desired zippiness. Pour over cream cheese. TRUST ME!!!
WUT 😳 SOUNDS BOMB
Yessss!! My mom and I make this!!
I’ll try and and tell you how I like it! 🙂
I'll have to give that a shot sometime. Sounds wild conceptually but I bet in practice it's killer!
Thanks for this great tip👍
You are so great! Definitely reminiscent of Alton Brown! As a fellow chef, I'm happy to see you shine and share your knowledge( I learned something!) Plus your video is clean, informative, and funny. Keep doin what you're do Chef Josh!
"Gouda or Gouda, if you're Dutch..."
It made me, a Dutch person, cry
You can also mix the cheaper options with some expensive products you are willing to splurge on, like I always use honey because I love it, even if makes it a little bit more expensive it still won't cost me over 100 to make a good board with things that I love
You could buy a jar of honey, instead of a comb
5:31 hey, I've seen that before!
Not in the kitchen tho
Lmfao
AwesomeFX While watching a girl* you virgin
Same same Lol
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and I instantly subscribed haha love your channel, keep it up.
I make easy pickled onions by saving dill pickle juice in the jar (once I've eaten the pickles, of course!) Add the onions and let it marinate in the fridge for 2 or 3 days. So easy and so yummy!
I would argue that Lunchables has your price beat, sir.
This was the comment first displayed to me and I cant even explain how hard or why I laughed uncontrollably
"this just tastes like a stiff sock"
explain yourself
Kinda sus, ngl
Blue cheese taste like a stiff sock
And i agree
It’s just like Swiss tastes like old feet
some things taste exactly how they smell.
I wonder how so many people know the taste of a stiff sock. Must’ve been a tough life.
wow 8 mil. dude congrats, i remember watching your videos way back in the day !
Thanks.. I’m new to charcuterie boards, just bought one on Amazon and can’t wait to make this for my family..
I love it Josh, please consider doing a "Bougie" vs "Bougie on a Budget" series!
I am here for that!
Anyone else that literally cannot help but say “B-roll” at the same time he does?
Who doesn’t?
I now say it completely out of context in real life situations and I can’t stop.
WHAT'S the song name man :(
@@juststevoo bro same lmao. My family just looks at me like are you ok and um just like "you wouldn't get it"
This man has just saved all the cheap adults with expensive tastes while enabling the poor hipsters of the current generation...Take a bow good sir.
I feel blessed living in a Mediterranean country, the expensive board costs as much as the cheap board here if not less.
You are truly blessed my friend. In our poor Asian country 50g of Prosciutto slices would cost $200 USD, assuming you can afford to be allowed to get inside the "exclusive and exotic groceries section" in some Plaza Hotel/Mall that usually the top 1% rich shop at.
@@mini9503 Guess you have your own wonderful foods for stunning prices!
You are such a nerd and I’m all over it!! Love it!! I would never go the cheap way! You got me!! I thought you were gonna talk about the different places and places where you could purchase the meat and cheese! This was an amazing video either way!
When I tried to include "charcuterie" in a speech-to-text message, it came out "shark uterus". I am not upset!
😂🤣💀
That's hilarious.
I thought that was the plural...
lol that goes on the expensive board.
I never thought I'd see a grown man fight blue cheese but.....here we are
Just got your cookbook. very much appreciation for a durable cover and lovely photos.
Will definitely be using this idea for my wedding .. thanks for the inspiration
The way he pronounces "Gouda" is actually very good, he really hits that hard G in there which is hard for English people to do, so well in!
-sincerely, a Dutch person
Eh, it is decent, but doesn't hit that throat cleansing, G R A A G level.
In the beginning it was really good, but at the end when he got mad at dutch people screaming he messed it up 😂
@@IslamBenfifi that's true
But for an English person it's honestly good
At least the first one XD
I don't think we hear too many people pronounce the cheese here in America so like with any language, when you've never heard someone say an unfamiliar word and you've only read it, you're going to pronounce it with a guess, lol. Then YOU become the source that others use to pronounce it and thus it spreads. This is my first time ever finding out that I too was saying the cheese wrong.
He's jewish, so the ch sound is easier lol. Think he speaks some hebrew too. Josh is pretty cool.
I’m going to make myself one of these just to sit in my room alone and watch Harry Potter. 😌✨

@@timantonius644 valid question. i'd go with 3 or 7 pt 2
Sooooo glad you did this with Easter coming …im obsessed with ur videos lol ❤️❤️❤️
My charcuterie for my campimg trip this weekend is gonna slap. Thanks Joshua for making this video 🤗
"Gouda, for those who are Dutch and are going to yell at me." I feel seen, thank you.
You know I would be very curious to see you make candy. Watching these really teaches me how certain things are made and has actually motivated me to stay away from certain food just because I know know how much sugar is in them.
Thank you this is perfect for my Dungeon and dragon group next week thank you
Aldi’s has great prices for cheese and meats to make an affordable board!
Trader Joe’s does too! They have a nice selection of cheeses
I came to the comments to say this.
I AM SO READY TO TRY IT
MAN, MAD RESPECT WITH EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE VIDEO / AUDIO
My favorite board consists of only the finest:
Cheddar slices
salami
saltines
gummy worms
anything else is not needed
Same!
If party food doesn't make you happy, it's not gourmet, it's pretentious.
Mine is any decent cheese, sausage, pickles and/ or olives, and smoked oysters.
Olives?
@@skyblueerik falls into the salty/ briney category
Aldi is amazing for cheap charcuterie!! Sounds like the perfect evening!
Did this last week with all the fancy stuff. Aldi for the win!!
Joshua: "toss an icecube in your chardonnay, that's a joke for all the mom's out there" me as a 28 year old man sipping box white wine on ice as I watch this video: "haha yeah, for the moms...." OwO

The part where he beat the blue cheese with his bare fists while war drums played in the background, really resonated with me
Josh: *takes out blue cheese*
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Josh: puchesthecheeseandmakesawholebigmontageoutofit
I love blue cheese. He alienated even other Americans with that.
This meme is years beyond its expiration date. Please stop posting this crap.
I'm down for everything you do Joshua. You're great!!!
5:12 You can also put the cream cheese in a food processor and some sliced green or kalamata olives with a splash of worchestshire sauce for a tasty cheese spread.
I would switch the cheeses to:
- strong: Appenzeller and Gruyère
- mild: Tilsiter, Emmentaler, and St. Paulin
- soft: Camembert and Brie
I love St Paulin, such a treat
But... anything tastes better with Gouda. No matter how you pronounce it...
Josh: It’s easier than you think...
Josh: ...simply start with some habanero and serrano seeds and plant those in the spring with 1teaspoon of 5-10-10 fertilizer in your garden...
Doing this right before the holidays start was genius!
This is my comfort video. I literally watch this every time I’m having a bad day
5:31 Most people on the planet know what *that* consistency is.
Most? Who doesn't know it? Only children?
It’s like maple syrup, if that’s what you mean.
@@lauriehand1021 Yup or even gelatin
Maple syrup? gelatin? What is "that" to you? XD
@@ferociousmaliciousghost oh come on I can think of a few exceptions other than children.

I thoroughly enjoyed this!! I am inspired. ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
that feeling when there are pickles as a "fancy" and " expensive" but your pantry is filled to the top with jars of pickles. Welcome to a slavic household guys...
Polish girl here and I 100% agree on that 😂 in fact my pantry is filled half with the pickle jars and the other half with jars of different kinds of jam (strawberry, apple, cherry, plum etc.) with a small amount of jars with traditional polish kompot which is a beverage made of dried fruits (mmm Christmas vibes 😋)
croatian girl here, so true!
I don't count as a slav but as a German I'm pretty close. Tons of homemade picked stuff, preserved fruit and jams in our basement.
"Yet to make my own prosciutto" *Looks to Duck Prosciutto episode*
I think he meant real-deal ham leg prosciutto.
Your videos are always so nice to look at
I love this video so much. Thank you for this 💕
Thank you Josh, I just recently inherited an estate... and me being the poor art student I am, I can now pretend I am boujee, whilst not squandering my family fortune at my upcoming mansion-warming gala... Meanwhile, I will be hiding in the pool house eating Doritos, leaving everyone to wonder where the Heiress went.
ma'am this is a taco bell
😂🤣
You should publish a cook book called ‘a weissman once said’
Haha nice one.
Josh: Noooooooo
uuuuuuh, I like it!
Love your videos they've been inspiring me to cook more and more.
I love cooking for my small family each Christmas Eve,
but my Sister and Dad both have such particular intolerances and seem to keep getting more each year!
My father needs low sodium or salt and my sister is allergic to rosemary and gets IBS from fodmap ingredients like garlic.
It's awful - I know, all the good stuff.
Thought it could make a good video idea to maybe give a guide on how to cook for a group when some have specific allergies or dietary requirements, without sacrificing flavour?
Josh !! If you don't like blue cheese I highly recommend shropshire it's salty amd buttery and a little sharp. Really good
