- Sadowsky has brought their coveted bass preamp into pedal form with the Sadowski SBP-1 Bass Preamp/DI and SBP-2 Bass Preamp. The SBP-1 features a two-band equalizer, a ground lift, an XLR direct out, a tuner out, a mute switch and a boost. Perfect for live gigs without a rig, or to beef up the tone on an amplifier.

Clearly you people doesn't understand that this is a good demo. Sadowsky made this product so that people that dig the sadowsky preamp doesn't have to install one in their vintage bass, like the one in this clip. But the amp doesn't respond that well to the eq though. Would sound much better with just the di signal maybe
Killer pbass sound.
our basis fell in love!
Cool. I amp very interested in what this preamp can add to a old school precision w. flat setup. I don't get the negative comments. There are lots of videos demoing the more modern obvious sounds from this pedal.
I agree with you. For me the option for a thin sounding P bass is to show how the preamp can bring a fuller and warmer sound even to a bad sounding bass. And compared to other preamps like sansamp this is one of the few that doesn´t awfully colors the sound - what people tend to call "modern sound". But the amp choise didn´t help the demo.
please do st vincent potent pairing
Loving all the butthurt hifi slap fans.
This bas sound was beautiful, glad to hear something else besides mid scooped funk all the time.
I am astonished at the negative posts. This is the best sounding bass setup. Sounds amazing. Please- go elsewhere people. More thumpy love juice for me.
@Monster in the Bassment He's got an opinion, you've got an opinion, everybody's got an opinion "oh no!"
My grandfather used to say that if you look around and all you see is darkness, you’ve got your head where the sun don’t shine. Dig the demo…I use a p bass with flats and was curious about what an outboard pre could do for me.
only in bass? works well in the guitar?? and direct recording whit this on interface any opinion? thx
I want to meet the guy that said hey lets get a jamerson type tone and run it into a Hifi modern pedal and a vintage tube amp that is totally not for this type of fidelity and gain......
I have no idea what this thing sounds like. You would think with a sadowsky preamp they would play a jazz bass with roundwounds with a more modern amp. I really don't understand bass players who go for this type of tone.
I don't think this is a preamp one would use if your playing "Screech Music" this preamp is to sophisticated for that
Yea, a p-bass with flats…nobody likes that tone.
@@patricksanders6597 Over the last 4 years I’ve changed my ways and now can appreciate a p bass with flats. But at the same time, when I think of Sadowsky I think of a bright sounding bass with roundwounds. That’s kinda what they’re known for. That Hi-Fi sound.
@@Jakeman90210 It’s all good man. I was just joshing you. I totally dig the hifi sadowsky tone. I’m just jealous cause I’m not good enough to want all that clarity. Hide my mediocre butt in the mix.
I still prefer my Sans Amp..I bought mine when they first came out.Never a failure, very reliable, great tones..
This video alone inspired me to cancel my order of the sbp-2
Cancel it, yo.
@@grossi6330 I did immediately.. over a year later though, thanks my dude 🤙
@@jacobmcconkey5674 good move brother man.
Thoughs on using it this an active bass?
Seems kind of redundant. This is the preamp FROM an active bass.
So in doing a demo for Sadowsky's amazing Preamps, which are an often sought after fantastic sounding modern EQ, you decided to use a vintage P bass with dull thuddy flatwound strings and a cheap Squire made with an agathis body both ran into a vintage amp... Did you guys not have an American Professional Jazz Bass and an Aguilar amp lying around somewhere? The guy in the demo is a decent player and he is well spoken but nothing in this demo is representative of the sound these pedals are used to achieve 90% of the time. I'm not trying to complain just to be negative, I'm genuinely concerned that there are people that might hear this demo and decide not to buy these pedals based off of this demo.
I don't get your point. The SB 1 is designed for all passive and active basses.....including vintage P basses with flatwounds.
I agree to this point. It seems like Sadowsky are not meant to ramble on with an old scool bass like this. To brighten up a woolen sounding bass? It does not make that big difference, I believe the amp's equalizer would do the same job. These cool little pedals are probably more shining in combination with a jazz bass or other more modern basses (and with roundwounds), right?
The Tone Hammer is a f
Grear DI + pre pairing for P Bass. It has the control over the mids you need to get great tones out of a P and the AGS sounds a little like the old signal chains used to record old soul records on lower gain. I agree the Sadowsky was a mismatch, but Ps are awesome in a simple, no-nonsense way.
I still have no idea what this does. All that fiddling produced more volume or more bass or treble and could have been done on the amp with the same results.
i know I'm late here, and its strange to run this into an amp as in the video, but the idea is if you dont have an amp, you run to the board to the PA or if you have a powered speaker cabinet you can use this as your preamp. Or you can go straight to the board to record without an amp.
yes - Dead playing too .. no dynamics to see what the Pre does across all sound variances
Clearly a good product, but a poor demo unfortunately. Both basses sound very dead, no real pushing of the product to it's limits either so who knows what it can really do?
I agree. I have this preamp and it's wonderful but this demo sounds pretty bad.
Reverbs videos are pretty bad
I swear every bass player demos the same bass line🤦🏾♂️ love sadowsky though.

This is the sound of a bass begging for new strings
Leiria65 That is how a vintage J bass with flat wound strings should sound.
Paul Wehr thats a P bass. Regardless, the point of this video is to showcase the preamp which is impossible when you're playing with such a dull clean tone. Why would you even want this product of you're going for a vintage sound?
Leiria65 I'm not saying that he chose the best bass for this application. I just saying that is how that bass should sound. I guess it shows that it doesn't color the sound much. Just gives eq options.
It would certainly help if they used an actual musician to play the bass !
Also use a Jazz Bass !
First

what a terrible choice of bass/strings/amp for this demo. get a regular jazz bass with roundwound strings direct, don't even use an amp... now play some slap... Hello Marcus Miller killer tone!
Roundwound strings sound hollow,no fundamental Flats always
Demo Fail!
These dudes who complain because he doesn’t play speed metal or braindead slapping/noodling stuff are so funny. Why are they on Reverb, a channel obviously focused on more indie/vintage genres like jangle pop/shoegaze/folk/psych etc. There are countless channels with demos from ”musicians” who think that music is about who can play the fastest, go and watch your demos there instead, and stop complaining that Reverb isn’t showing your particular style of hi-fi bass noodling crap.
Useless demo...
hipster doodles on dull sounding p-bass...
Do you own one of these preamp/DI boxes? If not..... SHUT UP!
always thought it was pronounced 'sadofskee'
