Hey Steve good video mate and looks like a good channeling first ride. A few things you may consider: 1) get the ECU re-mapped, the bike will not stall and the power comes on right away. 2)Take out the spark arrest, more power and better sound. 3) Up grade for pegs and brake pedal tip (Aliexpress.com cheap as). 4) Get the Acerbis engine and clutch protectors, especially if your riding rocks!. 5) For $500 bucks you could have bought a full set of after market plastics, awesome graphic kit and seat cover (save the originals for when you sell it). 6) The Midwest Clutch lever is a great option. 7) Tubliss system on the rear with a Golden Tyre 333 will give you incredible traction (I don't run tubliss on the front, only because I can spend money elsewhere better). Anyway mate these are just a few things I would recommend. I've done more than this on my 450 but these are my 'must do's'. Cheers.
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback. The dealership has removed the restrictions from the bike and different exhaust tip and remapping it goes well all the other things that you mention I am looking into. Thanks for the tips I appreciate it...
Broken Sprocket your dealer would of just uploaded the euro map to the bike, he hasn’t “re mapped it” talk to Rex from fueltorque find him on fb, you ship him the ecu and he re-maps it. The remapped ecu makes a huge difference, mate just got his 20 450 done and we rode it side by side with my identical 20 450 bought at the same time and it’s night and day mate, he charges 250 bucks and will give you your money back and load the factory settings back on the ecu if your aren’t impressed with it
i have a 2017 fe350 which has a fan. would highly recommend getting one especially if your going to do tight singles. Great video. cant wait to see more 350 action
The reputation of constant overheating is the one reason I don’t think I would ever buy a KTM. I think living in the heat of Australia you’re going to need a fan for sure. I rode my friends KTM and as soon as I felt how light it was I almost regretted buying my bike, they are super light. Hey Steve I just ordered a hybrid gummy rear tire, t as me a look at them as I think they would really suit your riding style.
Yeah mate it's so light and the engine is fantastic. I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. I will probably put tubeless tyre system on it.
We have vastly different opinions on the stand haha. I just picked up the 2019 KTM EXCF 350 and I find the stand is so long. Makes it a pain getting on and off the bike for me. With that said, the suspension is set up pretty soft and I'm only 5'11'' so we shall see once I get the suspension dialed in. Great videos though
I put a fan on my 2017 350, definitely worth it. Overheated mine a handful of times on technical stuff. Haven't had it overheat once since! Would 100% recommend the KTM Powerparts model, fitment is perfect. I love my EXC-F 350 👌
I have to give you props for taking that bike where you did. For me, I don't even like riding 10-20 feet in that type of terrain. It was an entertaining video. Liked & Subscribed..!
I had zero doubt if you would love the bike or not it is an amazing machine.I'm not sure if I just couldn't hear the fan or if you don't have one but I would definitely put a fan on it I would also recommend changing the fluid from regular antifreeze to wetter water or engine ice that should help out a lot. When I purchased my bike I don't even think I used the side stand once. I think everybody and their brother makes fun of KTM kickstands because they have a tendency of snapping the bolt that holds the stand on I would highly recommend getting an aftermarket side stand. I got one from pro Moto billet granite it was $200 but I can literally turn my bike on a dime using the stand in my garage or on the trail and I'll never have to worry about it snapping off. That ride looked like a fun time thanks for sharing
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback. I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. The stand is useless bike just falls over I have used engine ice before it's pretty good.
Like everyone else says, you need a fan, the bike in the States already come with one. I don't know what gearing you get over there but mine came with a 14/52. A 13/52 is much better for offroad and keeps you from having to slip the clutch so much which helps keep the oil cooler. These bikes do have a tendency to flame out and stall. Make sure you are not running too lean. I also found installing a clutch weight really helped with stalling and gave the bike even more 'chugability'. You can get a bigger kickstand pad from KTM but they are expensive. Did you replace the kickstand bolt with the shorter one that comes with the bike?? That way it will not retract automatically anymore and it is a little more stable.
I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. The stand is as is I will look into the parts it came with hopefully that bolt is in there came with 14/52 gearing thanks for the tips...
Broken Sprocket I removed the bushing that makes the stand go up automatically and changed the bolt on my stand before I took it off the trailer. The bolt should be in with the spares and tools that come with the bike. Just chuck the bushing and never use it again
Brilliant. Great break in ride! Not bad if your only gripe initially is the side stand, easy fix. My brand new 2011 400exc let off some steam on its first outing up a hill, changed out the factory fill for Motul coolant and never happened agian. Agree with the rear brake pedal, probably be the next thing I replace. Be good to see some faster stuff to see that 350 top end 🤟
Awesome bike, however there are 3 mandatory things that you need for it. A radiator fan, a coolant catch tank, and the rekluse clutch. I would also keep the radiator topped off, I think your dealer was just referring to the little bit of coolant lost from normal coolant expansion, not the overheating geyser that you had.
Thanks mate I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. I think when I became use to the bike I will have less flame outs overall the bike feels good and am looking forward to my next adventure.
glad you loving it european bikes all have that nasty style stand hahah. definitely put a fan on , have never boiled it or gotten close to it and in really shitty slow going terrain, and as for brake lever i installed the 450-501 brake tip. they are lot bigger and genuine husky/ ktm they only $35. fit right on with no modification. and you will like it so much better
Lucky that stick didn't break your sprocket 😁 I reckon you'll get used to the little differences with the KTM pretty soon. I'd put a fan on it in that kinda terrain but I think Nats has only boiled one time
@@BrokenSprocket good stuff. Nah hers doesn't have a fan, but we don't often ride stuff like you were doing in this video. It does pretty well on the whole though, pretty impressed with what it'll do without boiling. Fan is definitely going to give you some peace of mind though.
I have the 450 so has a stock fan but I never let the bike idle when stopped, shut off straight away then restart when ready to go again. Never boiled yet. Fan wouldn't hurt though
Great looking trail. Definitely need a fan for trails like that. You pointed out many of the same things I’ve noticed about KTMs. I had to put a larger rear brake tip on my bike. Nice first ride on the new bike!
I have the 2019 EXCF350 CANADA. Mine came with factory rad fan; I agree with NYCFastest Crew below that you should be able to snap one in ASAP. Also, hearing the engine in the video (our bikes sound like sisters 😊), my factory ratio was 14:52. I flipped the front to a KTM OEM 13 tooth front sprocket to get the road out of it and set it up for the trail...a world of difference, less 1st gear stalls in tight stuff and 2nd is now a grunt...highly recommend while chain and rear sprocket are newer. I had to cut 1 link out with the 13, block position ended up perfect with both ability to loosen or tighten chain
Far out Mate, another entertaining vid.. 1. I reckon even goats would have pooped themselves and then shied away from those tracks. 2. I have had a boiling issue on my old CRF450x, the shop recommended a coolant called 'Ice'. worked well, but you have to drop all other coolant out of the bike, it doesn't like mixing. 3. A fan with Ice combo, for the goat tracks you cover, definitely..lol. 4. did the 350, make your day 20% better? And yep, So far the little 15min paddock run on my 350, proved its self to be a great freight train of a bike, luggs when needed and then happy to run if you ask it to run. Love it, and will be doing fan and Ice, on my one. Great vid, and see you on the trails soon. Cheers, Silver Top - Dougie. :)
Definitely the fan is the way to go I ended up putting one on my sherco 450 and I'm surprised how much it comes on so you definitely haven't wasted your cash if you have ordered one.
Congrats on the new bike! They definitely need the fan for that sort sort of riding. Get one ASAP. The genuine KTM fan kit is easy as to install. Anyway it might run a bit hot while it is running in for a while. My new 20 model did. I also recommend lowering the gearing too. I think you would find 13/52 gearing much easier on your trails.
Nice ride to work out what you need to make it fit you better. Those Maxxis tyres are rubbish, Fan kit, Larger rear brake tip upgrade and maybe disc protection.
I had a 17 350, awesome bike on the fast flowy stuff, but when you get into the steep technical stuff it wasn't good. YES you NEED a thermofan and engine ice, enjoy and ride safe
Thanks for the 20% . That was some tech riding. I dont know why bikes dont come with a cooling fan. They petty much all have a battery nowadays. Thanks for the video. Clutches, broken in, radiator tapped off, tree from bike, removed, tire ordered.😆😆
I would imagine that a cooling fan would have some benefits. I hear a lot of really good things about KTM, and they definitely seem like after a little personalization they are amazingly fun to ride.
Thank you for sharing the bike's potential. I would vary the terrain to let the bike cool down, in lieu of, buying a fan. Although, if you were going to compete on it then, get a fan.
It’s hard to tell by watching the video, but how much air pressure were you running? I looks like you had way too much in the rear at least. Just like everybody else, (get a fan), but don’t stop there. 1. Remove the thermostat and replace the hoses with Samco hoses, 2. replace the coolant with something better like Engine Ice or Water Wetter, 3. put in a high velocity water pump impeller. All those things work together to keep from overheating, but if you still end up spewing coolant on the ground, 4. install a coolant overflow canister on the bike to catch the coolant and then it recirculates back into the bike. IMS makes one that slides into the frame of the bike...it’s pretty slick. Nice bike! Maybe get some good knee braces too.
@@BrokenSprocket fair enough, but even with regular tubes it’s way too much pressure. Drop it to 9-10 and you’ll still be ok if you ride like the video. I have tubeless and I still carry a bunch of long heavy duty zip-ties just I case I flatten the tubeless. Killer trails by the way.
Sorry for dogging you on this one mate but it clearly seems like you had that bike in an area that it should never have been. Probably just as difficult to walk up in 2 feet much less on a motorcycle with a ground full of slippery leaves and no current existing Trail and no room to even get any momentum no matter what motorcycle, tires, or skill level you were. Therefore causing you to use excessive clutch which definitely put the engine in x stream srress that it never should have been. That was your overheating problem. it doesn't need a fan doesn't or anything else. Imagine you just fired up in your garage and clutched it and wreved it and clutched it and wreved it but never left the garage and you did that for an hour. It would overheat just as well.
Hey Nice bike:), have you driven it on road? What speeds do you find comfarteble? Do you think this bike can cruise 60-70 mph with road gearing without screaming too much? High rpm etc
Tough ride for a break in ride. I usually do a easy trail ride with no gnarly sections with a little time to cool down between rides. But do it how you want.
Yes and no. My brother has the same RMX450Z that I had and we road them back to back yesterday I will have a video on that soon. Yes there is a difference.
Broken Sprocket I know you are lucky enough to have private property to ride on at the moment. Which is fantastic. The rest of us are restricted from riding in any state forests or parks ($3k fine if caught).
I've never heard of vibration in the handle bars and I haven't noticed it either. KTM 350excf is the best bike I've owned and I take it on hard trails its a very capable bike.
How can you judge brakes if you don't get out of first gear? How can you expect a radiator to work if no air is going through it? You've got to have a little sense man!
@@BrokenSprocket i have a excf350 2015 and a 2020. as said, here they come with a fan right from the dealer when new. in all the years of riding i have never over heated either bike.
Definately put a fan on it. i have only ever overheated my 450 once and that was in the middle of summer in some dense nasty gnarly shit (3 1/2hrs to do 5km)

I don't understand how anyone can afford a 2 stroke if they ride a couple hours 3-4 times a week. wouldn't you have to do a top end at least every month @ the 25hours everyone claims to do. I want a 2stroke but no way I'm doing this.
G'day Steve, I bought my 13" 350 EXC brand new as you have with yours. It's like a window back to when I got mine, same style of riding on the same bike with the same experiences. I still have my 350, still love it and you're on the right track. Once you get the front sprocket down to the 13 tooth (should be in the folder with the manual), a thermo fan and some decent rubber with some tu-bliss installed running about 10psi you'll be unstoppable. You keep closing all the time and staling man, you should really work on your clutch. Change sp rockets - 13 in front - 50-52 rear. Also put the fan on before you seized engine with such style. And you just cannot compare Japanese dirt/mx bikes with proper bike for hard enduro. Im done.
To boil out coolant until it doesn't do it any more is ridiculous.. if your radiators are only at 70% water level they will only cool at 70% efficiency... and you'll cook your bike faster than if they where full. Put a fan on and be done with it. They are a necessity on a 4 stroke for trail riding
Ktm has a plug n play OEM fan, no splicing wires. I installed one on my 2020 300 xcw- works perfectly.

That was some serious terrain mate 😁
Hey Nice bike:), have you driven it on road? What speeds do you find comfarteble? Do you think this bike can cruise 60-70 mph with road gearing without screaming too much? High rpm etc
Yeah should do 60 mph without any problems.
@@BrokenSprocket awesome thx
Holy crap. Some gnarly terrain for solo riding
Nice vid mate the bike is looking good 🤙✊️
Thanks mate it's not going to look new for long lol.
Broken Sprocket lol yeah with this type of riding it won’t when I put my new kit on I took a good chuck of it off on my first ride 😂
Put a fan on it 100%. 350s run hot to begin with.
Thanks mate I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem.
Put a fan on. I put a fan on my 250 it’s never over heated.
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem.
Tough ride for a break in ride. I usually do a easy trail ride with no gnarly sections with a little time to cool down between rides. But do it how you want.
🤣😂 at least this bike knows what it's in for now lol..
Did you miss the old rmx.. is there a huge difference between thoses two
Yes and no. My brother has the same RMX450Z that I had and we road them back to back yesterday I will have a video on that soon. Yes there is a difference.
Was that really a good choice of ride so early in the peace for that engine and gearbox with your ability??? 🤔🤔🤟
We both made it 😉👍
@@BrokenSprocket im glad. 👌
2nd. Nice bike Steve.
Thanks Mark...
Looks like a good bit of technical riding. Get a trail tech digital fan kit.
You shouldn't have boil over.
Yeah it was a good first ride and I now have a Trail Tech fan installed.
We should catch up for a ride soon (when restrictions are lifted).
Yeah mate.
Broken Sprocket I know you are lucky enough to have private property to ride on at the moment. Which is fantastic. The rest of us are restricted from riding in any state forests or parks ($3k fine if caught).
I'm looking at buying a 350exc-f how do you find the vibrations in the handle bars I hear it may be a problem 😎
I've never heard of vibration in the handle bars and I haven't noticed it either. KTM 350excf is the best bike I've owned and I take it on hard trails its a very capable bike.
Sweet bike bud, enjoy!
Thanks Steve I was so close to buying a Sherco 300 like you're got but the closest dealership is 2 hours away and KTM is only 15 minutes away.
@@BrokenSprocket Fair enough mate. Were you able to test ride the Sherco? I've always wondered how they compare to the 350ktm
How can you judge brakes if you don't get out of first gear? How can you expect a radiator to work if no air is going through it? You've got to have a little sense man!
Yep fit the fan, mad new trail
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback.
i find the 350 stalls super easy compared to the yz250fx .. based on model i rode ... and they overheat ...
@Vegas when will you do a review on the 500 exc? I lived your 350 review
Stalls less then my old 450..
Wow that’s some gnarly shit your in there. Great video.
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback.
Not really a trail conducive to dirt bike riding?
oh yeah looking good on an orange bike mate👌
It feels good .
Put the fan on. It helps. Your cookin that thing. Change your sprockets
Thanks mate I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem.
GREAT FIRST LINE!
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback.
Where are you riding mate?
Get a fan, silicone tubes with thermostat bypass kit, and a map switch with traction control. Thank me later ;)
All done mate thanks for the feed back...
Broken Sprocket a twin air radiator cap helps with cooling too. That's what I have on mine as well
Use engine ice coolant also, nice bike
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. I have used engine ice before it's pretty good.
My 2019 350 exc-f came with a fan from dealer. Its a states model maybe thats why.
I wish mine did.
@@BrokenSprocket i have a excf350 2015 and a 2020. as said, here they come with a fan right from the dealer when new. in all the years of riding i have never over heated either bike.
Definately put a fan on it. i have only ever overheated my 450 once and that was in the middle of summer in some dense nasty gnarly shit
(3 1/2hrs to do 5km)
Yeah I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem. The bike is fantastic much different from my old 450.
@@BrokenSprocket i reckon it will mate. 👍. i can imagine how you feel....after i riding Willy T suzi 450 its like wow what a difference.
Get a fan mate the riding your doing is slow and technical any modern bike will need a fan, my 2020 450 comes standard with a fan but the 350 and below need to purchase after
Got one on ordered thanks mate.
Just bought one of these as a secondary bike and note its pretty shit for 15K you dont get a fan as stock!
Yeah I was thinking the same thing
yeeees on the fan ... yes yes yes
I have ordered a fan kit hopefully that will fix the problem.
@@BrokenSprocket my buddy that had the 350, got a fan still didn't like it so he out Evans on it, this stupid coolant that is not really coolant.. Never boils, so it kind of hide the problem... Sold the bike got a beta didn't like it sold the beta got a husky te 300, he kind of likes it but he is never happy
@@vegasromaniac I hope I have better luck then your friend. I think the fan kit will solve this problem.
@@BrokenSprocket I sure hope son, man, I lost desire to watch your built videos because there are just too many, I can't watch them anymore, but this 350 has risen my appetite for watching see where you are going with it.. Record everything, I'll watch everything.. Because this was the bike I went to buy with cash in hand stalled in the driveway twice and ended up with the yz250fx... So I relive thru you
@@BrokenSprocket f it, I'll watch it twice . Haha
More 350 ride vids!!!! Please
There on the way 😉👍
Put a fan on bro take that top plastic chain guard off don,t need and what gearing you running mate my son runs 13 / 52 but cruising speed is only 75/80 k but not good on road but it,s not for road
Oh you need to put after market exhaust on or spend 150 on new end cap and get ecu remapped as it will run lean otherwise use Rex fuel torque for remap if you are going to do I can give you number if you need it, and yes stand are crap you can buy after market or put wrap around hand guards on and jut lean against tree 😂😂😂😂 yes needs tyres standard crap
Thanks mate the dealership removed the restrictions from the bike and changed the exhaust tip and remapped the bike its got plenty of power. I have ordered a fan kit that should fix overheating problem .
@@katojimmybling wait 13/52 gearing and 70-80 mph cruising speed, damn i think thats good, maybe your son needs a 450?
Water Wetter and a fan.. I want an TreeFiddy EXC so bad.. saving paychecks.
Quick! Sell it and buy a 2 stroke while you have the chance !!
No thanks I'm to lazy for a 2stroke lol.
@@BrokenSprocket If you ever get the chance swing your leg over a 300! Will tractor even better than the 350
My friend has one I will give it a go.
Dont be funny. 2 stroke? Never. 4 stroke only.
I don't understand how anyone can afford a 2 stroke if they ride a couple hours 3-4 times a week. wouldn't you have to do a top end at least every month @ the 25hours everyone claims to do.
I want a 2stroke but no way I'm doing this.
G'day Steve,
I bought my 13" 350 EXC brand new as you have with yours.
Check out Baz's channel czcams.com/channels/JAvmhgP0h1AEKY8vTEJPJg.html for some awesome riding tips too.
Good luck and welcome to Team Orange!
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback I just got back from a ride today the 350 is fantastic the more I ride it the more I love it
Out of interest
what maxxis tyres are they
Maxenduro
Broken Sprocket i run the maxxis maxxcross IT.
love them specially with tubeless. very strong sidewall can run very low psi. without any trouble and very long lasting.
ran them on the yamaha as well.
For the terrane you chose, I would take a horse. You ride in tech places.
🤣😂
lets go uphill on slippery rocks all day!
For real?!?!!
I TOLD YOU , GET A YZ250FX , LISTEN TO AN OLD MEN
You can't register the YZ250X in Australia the closest thing here is the WR250F.
Yeah, what Steve said. We can only register wr250f in n.s.w. no recreational rego🙃
I love the Kato 350 so much.
ok , im done, watched the entire video .. glad you are happy , glad you love the bike , im just about to throw the keyboard out of the window, its a logitech and i just realized that i hate it ... F this keyboard ... ok now im done !

@@BrokenSprocket yep, I need a yamaha keyboard treid a yamaha keyboard but I don't like how they don't put any letters on it you kind of have to guess and every time you ate wrong it makes a noise, bwhaha
Good lord get a trails bike if your riding rock mounds. Painful to watch you abuse a bike like that
Lol this area was a mistake
You are reviewing a bike yet can hardly ride one yourself. Nice try.
Thanks Mr Jarvis appreciate the feedback I had no idea that someone of your experience and championship qualitys watched my videos.
this guy just can’t ride 😂
True but there is only one way to improve 😉👍
Broken Sprocket good attitude mate, keep at it, keen to see your progression 💪
You keep closing all the time and staling man, you should really work on your clutch.
Change sp rockets - 13 in front - 50-52 rear.
Also put the fan on before you seized engine with such style.
And you just cannot compare Japanese dirt/mx bikes with proper bike for hard enduro.
Im done.
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback 😁👍
To boil out coolant until it doesn't do it any more is ridiculous.. if your radiators are only at 70% water level they will only cool at 70% efficiency... and you'll cook your bike faster than if they where full. Put a fan on and be done with it. They are a necessity on a 4 stroke for trail riding
Fitted a fan after the first ride thanks for the feedback.
