Serious Watch or Happy Meal Watch? Retro Casio A168WA-1

- My take on this ultra inexpensive retro Casio A168WA. It is small and lightweight by todays standards and might be considered by some to be a toy or kids watch but it has developed a serious following over the years and resides in many a watch collection. I failed to mention that due to this watches size, it might make a good unisex watch also.
For anyone not familiar with the reference to Happy Meal watch in title, McDonalds used to include a free inexpensive nick-nack\toy in their children's Happy Meal box and I recall sometimes there being a themed digital watch. Not really a thing they do anymore I think :)
If you run into a real watch enthusiast, and that person sees that watch in your wrist, they will most likely give you a nod or maybe even stop you to compliment your watch. Amongst the watch collecting community the Casio A168 is one of the most beloved watches in the world, second only to maybe the Casio F91w. I have and a 7 inch wrist and I wear this particular watch at least once a week. The A700 you brought up in the video is also an amazing watch I rotate regularly in my collection.
Thanks for the comment. Yeah I knew this watch has quite the following. Bens Watch Club Channel has done quite a few videos on these affordable classics
Do you find it alright for someone with a 7 to 7.5in wrist? I've been eyeing either this, the W217, or the CA-53.
@@darthgiggity7948 yes, small watches are more classical and it will fit nicely on your wrist, i have 7.5inch wrist and most of my watches are 36mm etc snk809, casio a158, srpj85. I love small watches, they just feel right compared to most modern watches at 40mm+ sizes
LOL BS
@@darthgiggity7948 I have a 7 in wrist and my A168 get's a lot of wrist time.
Forget everything else about watches: brands, heritage, prices, etc. Just taken on its own, the A168 is a very attractive watch...not just the retro appeal, but it's just plain aesthetically pleasing. It wouldn't be any more or less good-looking if it had a Tudor badge on it or a Timex one. It's simply a damn good watch. I have several significantly pricier ones in my collection, and the A168 still manages to get a ton of wrist time. A newer watch that has this exact same appeal is the Armitron Griffy, for the same reasons.
One point that I caught, you actually demonstrated the alarm. A well rounded review. Good job, thanks. P.S., I just bought this watch. Had one in the mid 90s and wanted another. $22 Walmart. It does pull the hair but cool none the less.
yeah - thanks. I am thinking of getting the calculator model that I once had as a kid (CA53W-1)
So far this is the best review video of this Watch . 👍
I agree! 😁
A watch with a simple and beautiful design at the same time and an excellent battery
It reminds me of my watch that I bought 15 years ago and I love digital watches because it looks more accurate than a dynamic watch and is clearer and it is not suitable for narcissists who will never think of buying it
In short, this watch for me is better than Rolex, and it is the first watch I bought and I have not bought another watch so far
Always been a fan of these beautiful watches. I’m thinking of buying, but I’m afraid it’ll look huge on my wrists (I’m a girl). It’s too beautiful to resist though, so we’ll see!
Go for it! 👍
A158 is the smaller version
I wonder if it would be possible to come out with a smaller version of this same watch (call it the B168). It is identical to the A168 except everything that it is 75% of the size of the A168. It is intended for those who like the design but want a smaller watch.
I just bought it on ebay for £11.00. Like it plenty but will be looking for a metal expandable strap for it. Not loving the wrist hair pulling.
Até que fim um unboxing mostrando como funciona o alarme 😅😅😅sou brasileiro e não tem nenhum vídeo que mostre.
Ok, fico feliz em ajudar! 😁
Just for your reference famous footballer Lewandowski wore a Casio to the ballon d'or
🤔 The Google Machine indicates you are correct Sir 👍
I have this watch but Casio should had made it metal instead of the chrome plastic case.
That would be cool but the watch would cost more
i have a huge wrist , and no where does it mention anywhere how large a wrist can be used with this watch, if you can , please share the answer, nice video btw
I just did some measurements and if you moved the clasp as far as it could go, I think it would fit an 8 inch wrist
O meu é um desse aí abençoado
Possuo um desses ai
i love my casio a168 and a700 but as u said they are so small on big wrists it makes them look feminine
Agree. I know small mens watches were the norm many years ago, but in modern times I think 36mm and below is too small
I already own 158wa . Should I go after it or not?
I would say no. They are too similar. A168 has better backlight though. Good comparison article here www.benswatchclub.com/blog/casio-a158-vs-a168
A700 or a171 would be a better watch to get if you already have a158
I really like your video but I'm definitely not interested in your opinion of this watch all I want is the facts of it and you did provide that thank you it's a beautiful watch
I'm not exaggerating but you probably took about a month off the battery life by leaving it on so long. Otherwise nice watch and review.
😬 Thanks!
A CR2025 battery also fits...
Koje su dimenzije kućiste sata?

O meu é desse modelo aí
OK, isso é bom. É um bom relógio para o que custa

Really cheap and really nasty.
It's awesome.
Nah, you're just trying to be a snob to cover up your insecurities.
This made me laugh.
Gen Z have such a weird take on life haha
It's a classic 1980s digi Casio, for £17.50.
That's it.
Nobody cares what you think about it.
Casio has an army of fans that enjoy these lol
How did you find one for £17.50 it's a fair bit more expensive than that these days.
