    Works in theory but part of Fieldy’s tone is the flap of the strings.

    • @JonLaTonaBass
      @JonLaTonaBass  Před rokem +56

      That’s a fair point. This is just a temporary solution if you need that register without changing steings.

    • @user-rs7tv5lq5v

      To get the sound you need light gauge stainless steel strings and a covered humbucker or active pickup and heavy slap and fingering

    After studying this sound, it’s all in the low mids and treble😉 as he said himself scoop all the mids out, boost bass a little bit, crank TREBEL all the way up, low mids all the way up. Having those ADX5 pickups he uses is a big plus aswell but they’re very hard to find without owning one of the signature K5’s

      @WilDBeestMF Před 5 měsíci

      I don't have exact measurements, yet my rule of thumb is this. If it's uncomfortable sliding a business card between the string and the board? You're a touch too low to my taste, raise it a tiny bit and you're home! Heck, you might like it dropped down that far. It's a taste thing lol but the business card is a decent litmus test.

But you can just get an octave pedal if you only have one bass and if you need to stay in standard. Happy playing!!

    • @potatoheadhaoy
      @potatoheadhaoy Před rokem

      I think it's got its own charm. Kinda like that "bass" riff on seven nation army.
      It crushes the tone a bit so you get a weird rubber band sound, if you know what I mean.
      Back in high school I didn't have money for a bass, so I just did what he did.
      Nowadays you can just do everything with vsts and send monitor signals anywhere you want in the daw, but pedals are so much fun to mess around with.
