      Informative video as always Alex. I have to ask, and I'm sure you have had such before (and this question was taken actually from a video you uploaded a while ago) , so In simple terms you would best advise someone to get to Vietnam after Tet as most schools in January are winding down to close ?

    • @ninja.teacher
      @ninja.teacher  Před 3 lety +1

      @@TerryFreak389 Yes, most hiring slows down before and after the 2-3 week holiday. Although some schools will be hiring before Tet for you to start after the holiday, which would mean you could potentially secure employment before and starting teaching after Tet with the school.

    Teaching in class is easy. Never failed a demo class. On the other hand teaching online, that takes a whole different mindset, and probably something i could improve on.

    Thank you Alex for an informative CZcams video! As I progress through the early parts of your online course, I find it informative and instructive. I'm looking forward to talking to your staff about practicing Teaching skills prior to applying for a teaching job in Vietnam in 2022.

  • @jeanlloydbradberry9099

    Great advice! I've gone through several "sample lessons" in order to receive job offers during my career, some through skype, but mostly in person. It's usually best to keep up to date as to what employers are generally currently looking for before demonstrating for a potential employer in a given region, or market, as these can evolve and change from year-to-year, or even month-to-month during periods of flux!.

      Thanks Alex. Just a thought for new teachers that are stuck in the States but are looking to get teaching experience. Years ago I went to a local adult school and asked one of the ESL teachers if I could help out. She immediately put me to work with a group of advanced learners. I had no credential and hadn't even finished college. I was just a class aid and the school was fine with it. The structure was rough but at least I learned I could stand up in front of a class and deliver content. About a year later I did my first stint teaching in South Korea. Been a teacher of one discipline or another ever since. Currently want to brush up on my ESL chops as it's different from all other types of teaching I've done. It's been a few years to say the least! Good luck everyone!

    It tends to be the lower end of schools in terms of pay and quality that want a demo lesson. Typically the top jobs can work out if you are quality from the interview or just creating a lesson plan.

    If possible, I would definitely take the in-class course to build confidence. I'm not a fan of recording myself and feel awkward doing so. Things have not panned out the way I've wanted them to so far, but perhaps one day they will so I can travel and take the course. I hope to at least travel to South Korea and other surrounding countries.

      @@ninja.teacher I have seen in some of your videos that people commented that they were surprised that they liked teaching children as they had previously surmised that they probably would not like it.
