I have owned 3:Firebirds in younger days 1967 400 4 speed ,1969 formula firebird 400 4:speed ,and finally a 1978 formula 400 4 speed .The 1969 was a beast and funnest cars I've ever driven I seen 135 mph on a freeway and fastest I've ever been .These earlier models were geared for 160 mph and more HP and higher low end torque with transmission ! The 67 and 69 were scary ass fast and in these years 1967 1969 models the tunnel ram hood was a must !Id love to send a photo in 1985 with 1969 when I was only weeks past 2 year tour in Germany Little .did I know these were the best years of my life to date !
This is a real street sleeper. A wolf in sheep’s clothing. I watched Dave run at the Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk. He has done an outstanding job building and restoring this car. Thanks for another great video.
I think FAST is my favorite racing series. Love that Dual Gate - don't think those came out as a drop-in for 2nd gen F bodies till the late '70s or early '80s. An older kid in my neighborhood had a '70-'73 base Firebird in this color in the late '70s, but his was a rust bucket and had the inline six with the dreaded column shifted automatic/bucket seats combo.
Great video, Campy and Dave! Love Dave's Bird. Simply, it's the perfect combination of beauty and speed. Personally, I think the early 2nd generation Birds are the best looking Pony cars ever made.
That hood is the best...and always loved the Factory Appearing Stock Tires class.....a friend of mine, Dave Dudek is one of the original founders of F.A.S.T.
Another great find, Campster. Being in Ct., I've probably seen Dave run this at LVD. I started droolin when you said "480+ cubes, and 12-1 compression". Very nice. Can't wait ta see this thing with 3.73s. High elevens is definitely impressive in this all steel car, with D port heads. Maybe someone can convince him to install an M-22 with the up-grades. :) Thanks for the ride, guys.
F.A.S.T. is an incredible racing category. Like you said, muscle cars are about untapped potential. To me, they were a fantastic base to build upon for performance. Excellent video, Campy!👍
The Firechickens were the best looking and most iconic cars of the 70s. All the coolest dudes had one...Rockfurd, Bandit, Ponch. And in the Furd corner we had...Kelly, Jill and Sabrina. 🤣🤣🤣
Campy, great car to video. Looks really nice. I'm surprised the car only is in the high elevens. I think there is more in it like you said. I don't race, but I am a Pontiac addict. I have several T/A's that have been worked on. The first is a '78 with a 406 CID, another '78 with a 461 CID, a '73 with a 496 CID and has SD455 heads, a '70 with a 433 CID and 722 heads (RAIV) and the last is my first T/A an '87 with the L98 350 and is all stock. I've always preferred the Firebird Formula over the Trans Am. Not that I'd kick a classic Trans Am outta the bed, just like the understated look of the Firebird Formula. The twin scoop hood looks great on the Formula, especially with those 5 spoke rally wheels.

Thanks so much. We have a couple more stock-tire cars coming soon. Stay tuned!
@@musclecarcampy9922 One of them better be a Chevy cause ain't nothing FASTer in F.A.S.T. than the Chevies. F.A.C.T.!
@@p1315Stay tuned.

That’s pretty funny.

Brand new combination. Lots more potential.
Love the second Gen Birds/TA's in the Lucy blue! This car is a great example!
Another great one. Love the fast and pure stock cars. Does not get any cooler! Keep em coming!
We will.
wow, that f400 runs like hell!

The twin scoop hood just makes it.
One of the best 'birds ever, very cool!
Thanks!
nothing like pontiacs i luv building n driving pontiac fieros. easy to work. easy to find parts
A friend once had a Fiero in London. It seemed huge over there. Wide compared to many cars there.
@@musclecarcampy9922 I always wanted a Fiero GT. So I could yank out the motor, and squeeze in a 301T, with a stick. (Yeah)
My Favorite F Body. Always Classy and Less Showy Than the Trans Am.
I want to do the FAST thing to my 1986 Monte Carlo SS, make is 3 X the hp but make it look stock
Go for it!
@@musclecarcampy9922 yes! I already have the transmission built to handle big power, driveshaft up graded, axle etc, now I just need a 350/383
Only cars built from 1955-1979 can race in FAST. Hopefully as time goes on that changes. Would love you o see 3rd gen Firebirds and Buick GNs
@@davidmarquis68 yes, I just want mine to be like those cars not race in the event, look stock but be at least 12 seconds
Yes, The hell cat took the twin scoops from the firebird, even though there designed a little different.
Who did the body restoration on it?
It looks fabulous !!
Andrew Colling in Monson, MA

David, how would get in touch with Andrew? I have a similar car I would like to have him restore. Does he have a website?
What part of CT is he located I'd love to see this car in person!
I was in Willington, CT. I live near Tampa, FL now.
