We had a 1989 Cadillac Deville in dark blue. Loved that car, we let go of it at 230K miles.
Wild little features on the car, corner headlights that illuminate to the side when you have your blinker on.
Lights on those little triple ridges/fins next to the hood indicate headlight/brights/turn signal if you pay attention at night.
Rear indicator in the back window showed you with red lights if your brake lights were on or your blinkers were flashing.

I had a 90 DeVille the same color as yours with the analog dash though, loved that car, kept it till it was 15 years old and was still getting compliments on how nice it looked.
The problems I had was a couple oil leaks which the dealer fixed, a radiator hose that went bad on vacation and a goodyear shop fixed with no charge for labor, a alternator bearing that costed $20 to replace because a friend removed it from the car and all the shop had to do was put the bearing in. When it got old though the brake lines rusted and cost $400 to fix. Most comfortable car I ever owned the seats were like an expensive sofa, could drive for 5 hours without stopping. I got up to 22 mpg on the highway if I did the speed limit. Sometimes I would think I was do 65 and look at the dash and see I had crept up to 80, but it rode so well and quiet that I didn't know I was going that fast. Doing 80 was effortless for that car, Wish they still made them like that.

Great review of a classic Cadillac. I still own my father's last new Cadillac, a 90 Deville very similar to yours. Mine has 28000 original miles and I went with my father to pick it up new at a local dealership in 1990. These are wonderful cars and we continue to enjoy ours on special occasions. Nice to watch your video.

👍 the Cadi was so far ahead of its time with all the technology. Have a 91 . How do I find out if the shocks need to be switched for standard. 175,000 on the car.

I grew up when this generation of Deville came out in 1989. I personally love the 1989 model because it had the classic(no airbag steering wheel) and utilized the 4.5 liter V8 that burned regular gas. But most collectors want the 1993 model year since it was the last of the bunch. Alot of people argue that these were the last "True Cadillacs" but that's up for debate. I've owned alot of Cadillacs over my time on this earth and this body style is one of my favorites. I stockpiled alot of parts(NOS and used) for Cadillacs that i still have today because i know in the future I'll probably buy another one. I would recommend for XJ Jesse a Coupe Deville though since it looks so much more boss being the 2 door model.

Hey there David! Thanks for hitting that thumbs up! 😊 Wow, inheriting a '78 Coupe Deville must be really special, especially low mileage sounds like you really cherish and taking good care of it. Are you repair the Jaguar or doing some upgrades ?

@@XJJesse I'm doing repairs on it my aunt quit Driving and it has been sitting for ten plus years and I got it running but it's going to take a long of work the outside of it and inside looks good but the undercarriage is the worst I've ever seen on anything the chassis rails on both sides coming down the bulkhead and just were it turns to a ninety degrees to go back towards the floor pans it's extremely rusted to the point where it won't be long until it just broke down. I was going to cut it out and weld it all back up and I thought about constructing a full perimeter chassis and extend the frame rails to the back and bolt the frame it the frame rails and use bushings to get rid of road noise and make it stronger..I've always wanted to take a unibody car and put a frame under them. For the jaguar I was thinking about a square tubular type. But I think about finding another one that is rust free and just fix it up nice and make sure that I protect the undercarriage to prevent rust and I wouldn't be driving it in the winter for sure.
