@@dylansharkey6040I did not. But then again, what's the chance two people, who are known for something completely different, and one of them was a professional goalkeeper, share another football trivia?
@@knuble I knew that Conan Doyle played under a pseudonym to escape any fans/media being aware.. I thought maybe it might have been the same thing with Bohr, as a known physicist.. Fun fact: after drawing all three of their group games at the 2010 World Cup (Paraguay, Slovakia, and Italy), New Zealand's FA released a commemorative DVD titled 'Undefeated'. No other team at that World Cup could have released a DVD of the same name.
@@martinwebb4897 If I recall correctly their angle was more that they were the only one of the 32 teams to go undefeated in that World Cup (pretty sure that's correct, but happy to be challenged on it).
@@chrisgreenhough2792 you are correct in relation to the 2010 World Cup but Nieve's guess of Angola would have been 2006 & no actual World Cup was specified. I saw a documentary about him recently, and saw that he played under a pseudonym so as to avoid the press. Didn't remember that he played in goal, but had no idea about Niels Bohr - i remember him coming up in my chemistry classes about the structure of atoms or something, along with 4 other guys that built on his (or someone else's) work.
@@dylansharkey6040I got that. ACD had been in goal for Portsmouth as well as taking 1 first class wicket as a cricketer (the batsman was WG Grace). Niels Bohr & his brother were both played football and his brother was involved in the 1908 Olympic Final.
Love the shirt. Miss your match day vlogs. Really enjoyed your recent video about FC Basel. We need more of you. Best pundit out there. Genuinely don’t understand how you haven’t been snapped up by Sky or TNT (BT Sports) because your football knowledge eclipses the ones currently there. I’d love to see you on BBC with Alan and Gary.
As a fan of La Liga, I was so glad, and frankly quite impressed, that you knew the Atletico Madrid one haha But great series, I'm really looking forward to more episodes
Love this format! I think giving points for correct answers rather than money would make more sense. Makes the numbers smaller and easier to follow when ‘gambling’ the points!
Niels Bohr didn't play professionally. He played while studying, in the field at first, at AB (Akademisk Boldklub) but swapped to play as a goalie rather quickly. At this time there was no such thing as pro football in Denmark, no one was paid to play, but AB did play in the top league and were a strong team back then
Yes, and they did that in the women's game, too, which is why Sam Kerr was/is able to be the top scorer in the NWSL and the Aussie league simultaneously. Miedema will likely keep her from making that in WSL but she's close enough and a legend already.
A'reyt Nieve. Here's what you could have won! I amazed myself at knowing a lot of these from watching your channel, but also US football channels on CZcams and being older than your average subscriber. That shirt would be great for Bradford (Park Avenue). It was like watching a Bradford derby this weekend with Motherwell v Celtic.
When are you coming to an MLS game, would love to see some stories from that league. The original Americanized shootout concept, concacaf champions league and the rise and hard fall of Toronto FC whilst being the second highest salaried team, would be fun stories
Danish scientist Niels Bohr played for AB (Akademisk Boldklub or Academic Ball Club). He played when the goals were made of wood. He used to bring a pencil so if he had an idea during the game he could write a formula on the posts 😎
Me knowing that New Zealand was the team to never a world cup match yet not making it to the knockouts is the only time I'm ever going to beat Nieve in football trivia. And knowing that Tim Wiese became a wrestler. But those a free points because I'm German.
8:20 well actually there's a movie about das Wunder von Bern (Germny's world cup win 1954) i which a swiss woman says that to the german manager of 1954
solid concept but surely you could get a couple of people competing to answer? is there a buzzer app or something you could all 3 download to make it work?
The official England and tournament song for Euro 96 was not ‘Three Lions’, but was actually a dreadful Simply Red song called ‘We’re in this together’. They didn’t even play ‘Three Lions’ at Wembley during the first match but because the crowd kept singing it played it at all the remaining matches.
No, doesn’t count. The question wasn’t about teams who went out after the group stage at *one* WC (would be a nonsensical question bc there are several teams who didn‘t qualify for the knockout stage but stayed unbeaten), but *any* WC. Belgium lost at other World Cups, New Zealand only played one, stayed unbeaten in the group stage, but didn‘t qualify for the knockout stage. Therefore NZ are unbeaten at World Cups.
