  • How to get great folder style embossing with the Debossing Tip in the Cricut Maker. IMPORTANT. As of v6.10, Cricut has removed the ability to leave the mat loaded as shown in the video. Continue reading for new instructions, related links, etc.
    Please call Cricut at 877 727 4288 (USA) or contact them via help.cricut.co... to let them know the ability to keep the mat loaded, as in versions 6.5-6.10, is important to you.
    The current workaround as of version 7.25:
    Please note that in order to keep the mat loaded on a computer, you must be using a USB connection.
    IMPORTANT: Be sure to save your file before clicking Make it
    -Once the cutting mat is completed and you see the large check mark in the center of the screen, unplug the USB cable that connects your computer to your Cricut, from either end.
    -Click on Cancel in the lower right and then Yes at the top. That will bring you back to the Prepare screen.
    -Choose the next mat from the left hand side of the Prepare screen.
    -Plug the USB cable back in and click Continue.
    -Perform the next steps per the video.
    -Repeat the disconnecting/reconnecting process for each subsequent mat
    (Unplug USB BEFORE pressing Done or Cancel on the checkmark screen. Plug it back in when you are on the Prepare Screen BEFORE you press Continue) until all desired runs are complete.
    If you are having trouble keeping the mat loaded, disable Bluetooth or unpair your Maker, and, of course, you can still use the 2017 method (video linked below) if you are unable to keep the mat loaded.

    FINALLY! I found your video. Have spent the last three days trying to figure out debossing on my new Cricut. Not much help on their website and few design downloads on that appealed to me. Thank you SO MUCH! -- Had to edit my comment after watching the entire video -- You have saved the life of my Crcut!!! I have done crafting for more years than I care to admit (turned 78 this year!) -- but this Cricut machine almost got the best of me! Not now -- and tomorrow, I'm going to use your video, step by step, and show this annoying cutting maching who's the boss!!! It doesn't know how close it was to the recycling truck on Monday!!! Thank you again! And, as reqested, I've liked the video and subscribed! Can't wait to watch your other tutorials! (Another note: I didn't find myself snapping out of a daze in the middle, thinking about what I'm going to cook for dinner like I do on so many "wandering" videos by other people!)

I still don't understand what the three dots were for, though. 1.
    I don't have a cricut yet - I plan on getting one!
    I was just wondering, why you need a stencil/ template if the cricut has a deboss setting? (Why it couldn't just be straight on the card)- apologies if this is a silly question / it has already been answered!
    2.
    Also, I was wondering
    Would you be able to emboss multiple sheets at a time if you put them on top of the template ? Or is that not possible as it would to be too thick.
    Thank you very much if you can answer my questions!
    Absolutely loved the video and how clear it was- I don't even have a cricut and I understood the majority so thank you!!

    • @cleversomeday
      @cleversomeday  Před 2 lety

      At about 30 seconds, I show a comparison on the Cricut debossing with and without the stencil. You may be able to emboss 2 sheets at the same time, but my guess is the quality would deteriorate on the second one if not both. You could, however, set up a stencil with multiple copies and run multiples that way, saving prep time.

    Great timing! I watched your 2017 videos just about a week ago and I've been trying to work this out in the newer DS. I used some stencil images from Design Space and have made a few, but with some other ones, I get to a point where my Maker will not find the knife blade. Even when I ask it to calibrate, it can't find the knife. I've been successful on three different tries, but those that can't find the blade drive me nuts. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if my Cricut is defective. When I made a simple shape and ask it to cut it out, it does it just fine. When I get a little more time, I'll write my steps in another message. My biggest problem, as you said, was getting the Maker to cut and emboss (deboss) in the correct place. Your idea of putting the tiny circle on the mat is brilliant! Thank you!

    • @cleversomeday
      @cleversomeday  Před 3 lety +1

      So glad to hear someone tried the old way! LOL The knife blade shouldn't be a part of this process, old or new, though. So, if its asking for the knife blade and failing, then you need to choose a material setting that doesn't use the knife blade. However, if your Cricut can't detect the knife blade then that needs to be addressed with Cricut separately. Contact me at cleversomeday.com/contact if you need more help.
