With Dauntless making its way to all modern consoles, I thought it’d be a good idea to cover some aspects of the game that are extremely important to becoming a better slayer that the game itself doesn’t really explain very well, or at all. Some of these topics are simply great tips that I wish I knew from the start, and some topics are for more advanced players, or those who are at, or along their way, to the endgame. We’ll dive into takedown mechanics and strategies for specific behemoths, the various status effects and how to combat them, the Middleman and cell fusion, the best starting and endgame gear, as well as perk suggestions for the most powerful builds and much more.

I recently picked Dauntless back up again (this week). I didn't even realize the last time I played was June 2019. This was always a great game a buddy of mine and I could just jump into, talk and have a conversation, and still be engaged in a game we liked.
With social distancing, the spaces to virtually hang out are even more important, and that's why we found ourselves coming back to Dauntless. I'm about mid game with two sets of +10 armor and a few +10 weapons, but by no means end game. That's why I came across this video (just refreshing on stuff).
There's honestly a few good tips in here I didn't realize. Shellshocked was driving me crazy, and now I know how to deal with it. I also use Molten to deal with Hellion, but knowing other options is great also.
It's nice to see a video straight to the point like this still holds up after the updates Dauntless has made and the changes. Just goes to show if you do something right the first time, it shows. Thanks for the video and info. Be safe in 2020 everyone!

I believe a notable thing that you missed to mention is chain blade and interrupts. A common misconception is that chain blades can't interrupt, which is wrong. To interrupt with chain blades you do a dash forward followed up with a light attach (press light attack button before exiting the dash) and your character will do an upper punch which will interrupt, this is useful against embermane, shrikes and pangar. Tho difficult other behemoths can be interrupted as well, where timing is where the skill gap is.

    • @breakthecode4634
      @breakthecode4634 Před 4 lety +1

This game does not have a large skill gap. Its literally an easy version of monster hunter, that has real money rng. Dumb

    • @anythingmasterz
      @anythingmasterz Před 4 lety

The dash is wholly unnecessary. Though, due to the low range of chain blades, you can end up trading with a regular light attack without a lot of practice

Yeah becouse you know in any multiplayer game players reviving others is very common. He says sarcastically. We would love to save our stuff but the problem is other players are d**** or simply trolls. Or there only focused on hitting the bloody thing and nothing else. Then they sit back and get angry at other players who either dont revive them or they go off when they get wiped. Becouse strategy and patience as well as teamwork is hard to find. Then you have people like me coming over from monster hunter who is now going solo becouse people show these traits. It's like what are you doing this is not call of duty you moron. You got to admit this happens all the time. Anytime you have games like monster hunter or this one or any other based on teamwork or strategy appear and get popular. People hop on who only ever play games like cod, fortnite, wow games where you dont have to think you just hit buttons. This is why most players dont think to revive or they run out to revive him when the behemoth is right there and gets wrecked. Becouse they never had to think outside of hit x before. And this is true with any game that uses strategy like monster hunter or requires you to pay attention to your equipment it's not just daughtless. When they get popular all the run and gun idiots come out. I always visualize a bunch of hillbillies in a swamp coming after the rest of us, with us yelling "paddle faster I hear banjo music" and with them yelling yee haw we gonna shoot it good then cook us up some meat. That visualization is about what your experiencing

I prefer embermane lantern over shrike. The difference, which was shown but not mentioned, is the tap versus hold ability. Shrikes hold ability that grants attack speed doesn't lets you use if you have the perk active. Conduit hold boost doesn't care. This in mind, it is easy to bounce embermanes now two attack speed boosts to retain an overall longer and more reliable buff.

I actually watched this as I started playing Dauntless, and I know it’s an old version, but some of the tips are just a _little_ off. Fighting against Hellion, instead of taking Fireproof you could’ve also taken Molten for increased attack and move speed, with bonus Fireproof as long as it lasts. Iceborne’s damage reduction does not cause your health to equal 80% when at half health, instead it causes your health to be somewhere below 75%, albeit still above 50%.

I use a set up with hammers and iceborn as well that I really like, if you use scarns hammer it adds shield based on the amount of damage you deal, if you can time your combos well then you can get 1000+ shield and your 50% hp from iceborn so as long as you keep hitting the behemoth you are basically invincible. The perks I use with it are iceborn 6 , knockout king 6, overpower 6, Lucent 6, weighted strikes 3, rage 3, (I think I missed one that I can't remember) but I achieve this with the skarn hammer, panger helm, valomyr chest and valomyr gloves, then finally the boros bottoms (the one in the video that give iceborn) can't remember the name of the items of by heart.

I'm new to the game. I play on Nintendo Switch. The difficulty I face early game is lack of load-out slot to save my builds corresponding to the behemoth. It's just a hassle to change cells on the equipment each time I change my equipment. Any tips regarding this problem? I still don't have intentions to spend dollars on this game.

Pangars roll was a pain to time! Plus there are 2 types of rolls, and only 1 of those rolls ( the longer roll ) can be stunned. If you count 1 Mississippi and attack during Pangar's long roll, you'll get the stun off. You're aiming for Pangar's back plate btw. Awesome video!!! I've been thinking about getting back into this game and streaming it. Thanks again!! Great video!! Always boop the snoop my Slayers!

    Hey TerraMantis!
I'm portuguese and i'm gonna start playing Dauntless after this video.
I'm not fluent in English but i knowing the basic, and this vid has no subtitles.
I write your tips, can u read and tell me if they are correct?
Leave like in this comment for him to see...
    TIPS:
    1. Catch blue lights whenever you can.
    2. Whenever a Behemoth runs away, look for him in the direction he went.
    3. when the Behemoth have \ | / head to attack to take them down.
    4. Alert: when the DANGER bar is at 100% the Behemoths will take much more damage, and the allies cannot be revived.
    5. Status Efects:
    # Warms (bees around the body) - Attack the air to remove them.
    # Wounded / Crippling Wound - Wait still.
    # Burning - Roll.

    6. Perks (statuses increased by equipment):
    # Up to 6 perks can be obtained.
    # Each perk can be increased up to +6.
    # Level 1-5 equipment adds to the associated perk +1 / 6-9: +2 / 10+: +3.
    # Cells (cells of each equipment): green cells add +1 to the perk / blue: +2 / purple: +3.
    # To get the 6 + 6 perks, you must then combine and mix weapons, armor and cells.
    7 and 8.
    # The cells are obtained by defeating Behemoths, being able to be fused by "The Middleman".
    # The cells of the same category must always be merged (Defense / Power / Mobility / Technique / Utility), or the same to achieve the same, but with better rarity (Uncommon: Green / Rare: Blue / Epic: Purple).
    9. Best Builds (Gears):
    # Natural Armors (no bonus additions and no weaknesses).
    # Best weapons - Hammer / Aether Strikers.
    10. Obtain Behemoths Parts:
    # GEMS / FURY - The Behemoth level of being 8+.
    # Elementary Gem - Attack the needed body part in the initial 2 minutes of the battle.
    # Natural Gem - Breaking a natural head in the initial 2 minutes of the battle.
    # FURY - Behemoth must be in the state of Rage.
Elementary Fury - Behemoth must be Elementary.
    # Natural Fury - Behemoth must be a Natural type.
    # Perks to obtain Fury parts - Bladestorm (Chest) / Sharpened (Drasks Gloves).
    # Weapon to obtain Fury parts - Sovereign's Torment
    11. Later in the game: Put Fireproof in the build (Resistance to fire).
    # Fireproof Equipment (Level 6+) - Volcanic Helm + Fiery Guantlets + Epic Defense Fireproof Cell / Volcanic Helm with Fireproof Cell.
    12. Best Build - Undying Iceborn:
    # Perks: Iceborne / Tough / Wild Frenzy / Rage / Conduit / Aetheric Attunement.
    # Weapon: Hammer.
    # Flashlight: Shrike's Zeal / Embermane's Rapture (use on Solo).
    # Leggings: Boreal March with Iceborn Cell (Home) / Volcanic Threads (Final).
    # Chest: Gnasher Cloak
    # Gloves: Boreal Might with Rage (Beginning) / Shocking Grasp (Final).
    # Helmet: Slight of Stone.
    Cells:
    # Wild Frenzy.
    # Conduit.
    # Iceborne.
    # Iceborne.
    # Aetheric Attunement.

Hello Steve(Terra Mantis)! First of all if I may say. I am terribly sorry for you and your family's loss! Obviously I am not aware whether you are a God-fearing man or not! Regardless Steve, my family and I will go to the Lord in prayer for you and your family, and as well for everyone whose hearts were touched by your father and whomever touched your father's heart! I hope referring to you as Steve is okay. My name is Marcus. Steve I must tell you about an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE bit of information that I was so fortunate to be able to witness and enjoy this late afternoon, early evening 09/24/19. It was your tremendously, well put together flawlessly delivered, what I would deem as pure artistry 12 educational tips sort of speak regarding "Dauntless." I would have to envision that for a living you are either a educator(not necessarily school subjects.), but where your guidance, and information you share is critical to creating an outstanding common goal! Please Steve, do not allow my overwhelmed blown mind to come off as flattery! I myself or at least my career work history experiences have always somehow landed me in positions to ensure that the associates that I have superseded. Grasp and understand what it is that I may have developed, or uncovered to work smarter not harder. Although, my goal has always been to reciprocate what information or knowledge that I gained to not only put those who want to be better at what they do in a different light with a different approach, but to take advantage of now enjoying their position while being able to reciprocate that new found appreciation in their personal lives! My point Steve is that I truly enjoy making other people's lives better than even my own! I believe it is my destiny to help the fellow man, mankind if you will! With all that being typed. Steve I have probably coached, assisted, explained, and carried I'm sure 25 people or just a bit more. Not much more if any more at all far enough through "Dauntless" that I would with confidence say a vast majority if they stayed on task. They certainly would be around their end game. The really interesting fact about all that is I do not feel as if I am prepared to conquer the end game! Everytime I get on I can not help but check the requests out there of people needing help or those that just want to get parts to fulfill creating their epic or legendary items. I began the game in May on the Xbox One with absolutely no assistance whatsoever! Fortunately I was able to ask some very kind people who began the game on the PC just general questions and from there I felt like I took off! Well I must admit that "Dauntless" is incredibly challenging, and I honestly feel as if Epic, and their respected affiliates are really trying to accomplish creating a free game that is so difficult at times that there are people who honestly throw their hands up and reframe from ever playing again! In fact Steve call me paranoid or even ridiculous, but I feel as if Epic and company do not appreciate my style of play too well! I only say that because of some of the bizarre things that have happened to me over the course of my stint playing the game. Such as not being able to swing my weapon at times, or my final revive disappears. Until you uploaded your MASTERPIECE! I would have to say you have single-handedly created the blueprint for success that absolutely everyone could benefit from somehow or another! Of all the people that I have helped with the game. I explain that they should #1 collect their ten aether that will appear randomly in different places each day and secondly always go to the middleman! With this I will wrap up my comments. The style of play I adapted that I feel is disliked by so many including squad members(randoms no less!) I learned very quickly about the cells. In fact by levels 10-15. I was already +4-+6 with all weapons that I honestly felt God-Like with! Sword, Warpike, Chains, Hammer, but to even my own amazement at times. I incorporated things like weighted strikes with my hammer and chains, I used what would now seem unorthodox based on the "Undying Icebourne build. My general loadout that would allow my style of play to be utterly destructive without at times not giving my teammates a chance to share in what would have seemed my victory! Which forgive my hypocrisy! I was very bitter about the players who would coax new players to use their setup and loadouts. I mean to tell you there are some really mean, insensitive people out there playing this game and are not being open-minded about allowing the style of play to dictate what build the new players should go with! So typically my loadout was until I gazed at your demonstration. Weapons of choice specifically! Godhand, +6 Overpower, +6 Knockout King, +6 Cunning, depending on the element of the behemoth of course. +6 insulated, molten, fireproof, warmth, icebourne, aether attunement, then we would round it off with +6/+5 rage, ragehunter+ or a number of different combinations. But you see I would barely allow the behemoth to breathe. The really awesome circumstance that I am fortunate to have is because of my ridiculous habits with the middleman. I have been able to duplicate the "Undying Icebourne build. I will give it a whirl this evening! Thank you Steve for your elaborate blueprint of staining life while accomplishing goals! Again, I am sorry for your loss! You take care and I look forward to your next upload.
