    The bus transportation works perfectly fine. It taking an hour is so overblown, the trip only takes 30min at the most for early entry. Please don’t spend $600 a night just to avoid a bus. Even suggesting rideshare over a free bus seems silly unless you have mobility issues.

      Strongly disagree with you here. We only took the buses on our first trip while staying at POR and it was like everyone was being stuffed into the buses like cattle. Super uncomfortable each time we rode. Now we take the skyliner, boat, or just get a ride share. I’d happily pay the Minnie van prices then have my family ride one of those buses again.

      Yeah I just stayed there in February and no bus trip took more than 20 minutes. It’s always good to give yourself extra time if you’re park hoping or have a dinning reservation or lightning lane. But don’t avoid the buses. They’re free, clean, and reliable.

    Thanks for discussing the Accessibility Issues! I became disabled a few years back and before that it wasn't something I gave a lot of thought to (and have I learned since then!! Phew! Something like 20% of all adults will develop a disability with significant impact).

  • @addaptinginthedark
    @addaptinginthedark Před 4 měsíci +1

    Not sure if you're still checking comments on this one. But a deep dive into Disney accessibility, including mobility issues, people in larger bodies, neurodivergent folks, etc, would be so helpful. Like something talking about any accommodations, places like some of these hotels that aren't up to ADA code (which is freaking insane to me,) info like that. I know it'd be impossible to cover everything for every disability, but even just talking about the major categories would be really, really helpful.

    • @DFBGuide
      @DFBGuide  Před 4 měsíci +2

      It is definitely a tough topic for us to cover since accessibility needs and accommodations can vary so much person to person and there are so many different situations throughout the parks and hotels. Our best advice -- and this comes from having members on the team with accessibility needs either themselves or their friends and family -- is to to speak to Disney directly about the areas you may need assistance or accommodations and see what is available. And definitely plan extra time; Disney is incredibly accommodating, but often times that can mean making more trips to guest services, more phone calls before your arrival, talking to chefs, using test ride seats before getting in line etc.

      IOA and Universal Studios are literally adjacent to one another and both are connected to City Walk. It is like one big area. The closest resort to all is Hard Rock but both of the Lowes hotels, Portofino and Royal Pacifica are also in the same general area. All three have a walking path and also offer a water taxi to the park/city walk area. All three also include the perk whereby your room key is valid as a fast pass which is huge (skip the lines all day for most rides) - to purchase a fast pass otherwise is often more expensive than the park ticket itself depending on time of year and demand. These resorts are more expensive but when you factor in the included fast pass they are a good value + proximity to the parks.

    She really can’t resist taking a dump on Caribbean Beach at least a couple times every hotel video.
    Her gripes are always the same: sprawling resort and no elevators. These have been true since it opened in 1988. The grounds are lovely, take a walk, AJ. And no elevators? Unless it’s a person with disability or mobility issues… it’s a flight of stairs. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The way she harps on about it, you’d think this were a 20-story hotel tower.

    I was at disney all star music resort about ten years ago. I was there with someone who was wheelchair bound. Something we did not take into account when using the bussing system from the all star resorts to the parks is that the cues for the busses do not have handicapped lines. You stand in the same line as everyone else. While that may not seem like a big deal it really became one as for a lot of people who are wheelchair bound in order to board a public transit bus you need room. That means no people getting on or off the buss and the bus doors clear so the ramp can come down. I lost track of the amount of times a bus driver would tell us to wait for the next bus because they let passengers on before us and could no longer get us into the bus...

    I’m not going to Disney in 2024 because I’m saving up for a top tier vacation to Universal when epic universe opens. I love Disney but they haven’t done anything to actually be competitive with Universal. I will return at some point but that will be after Disney does extractive upgrades.

    • @mindyschocolate
      @mindyschocolate Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah I went to Universal last year and was sad at how trashed the park was. They don’t have nearly as many trash cans and every line I stood in, the ride broke down. I wasted hours because three of the big rides broke down. The park wasn’t much cheaper either. I got the two park two day pass and it cost me as much as disney. The only good ride was Velociraptor. Everything else was baby roller coasters, broken down, or was the same 3D ride, but themed differently (Transformers, Simpsons). Hopefully you have a better experience than I did. I’m going back to Disney.

    • @cjhan47
      @cjhan47 Před 6 měsíci

      @@mindyschocolate I've been a few times and have loved it. I agree it's not near as well themed as Disney, but haven't had any issues with more than one ride breaking down (Kong) and your also right that the price is cheaper and many of the rides are 3d sims but Universal is building an entire new park and that is what I'm holding out for. It would be nice if Disney built a 5th gate but all I really want from them is some meaningful updates and not trying to nickle and dime me at every turn. The lighting lane thing is truly a slap in the face to it's loyal customers.

AJ is still salty it’s so far from a park but some people on our team love staying there so it’s a controversial one amongst the DFB team. We all agree the 2-person rooms aren’t it, but those regular studio rooms have two showers which is a big plus for a room that sleeps 5

      Almost everyone I know has Uber, Lyft, or both on their phone…for me it’s mostly a remnant from college when I didn’t have a car, but plenty of people use rideshares at home for things like going to/from the airport, saving on parking for large events (concerts, sports games, etc.), safe transportation when they’re drinking alcohol, or for when they travel. It might be a generational or wealth thing though, bc my parents don’t have rideshares since they’re more likely to just pay for parking/rental cars

    I'm going to have to disagree with you about the tower suite rooms at the Riviera. First, there are only about 20 of these rooms. And they are considerably less than the deluxe suite rooms. They are not designed for 4 people, but they do accommodate 2 people with ease. The bathrooms are as large as a regular deluxe suite and when the bed is folded up, there is plenty of space. While some people dislike the murphy bed, I happen to like it as it folds up and gives you a sofa to sit on so you don't have to sit on the bed. Yes they are pricey for the small size, but it is the Riviera after all. Lastly I will say this, the view from these rooms, especially the upper floors is absolutely spectacular. I have stayed in these rooms for New Years Eve for the last 3 years, and you can see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot, as well as the fireworks from I-Drive.

    every Hotel on property has positives and negatives. My opinion every Disney Hotel is a fn waste of money. Top Hotel Dolphin Swan can easily get a rate of 200-250$ a night, perfect location. Second pick Disney Springs Wyndham , Hilton, or Holiday Inn, easily 140-170$ a night perfect 3-7 min walk to Disney springs. Anyone who spend 500-700$ a night on a Disney hotel is a sucker.
