The problem with crysis was what the devs predicted next gen graphics cards would improve. They guessed on a wrong part thus it was difficult to properly run crysis.

Imagine being born 100years from now, what kids will see instead...
I'm still asking for 1990's "Arcade Quality" because that means high poly count and high resolution with very little post processing, arcade games still have the cleanest graphics in gaming history (90's GPU architecture didn't have post process capabilities).

Just to maybe provide some speculative context, but I think one of the reasons OP focuses so much on vehicles is because getting automotive paint lighting to look realistic is actually incredibly difficult because of how the light scatters/refracts between the different mediums. I love these texture mods, it’s insane that we can put photo real stuff in games now plus the alteration to the camera and fov to really give it that look as though it’s being filmed on a go pro, it’s super weird that the changes in fov like that actually are what enhance its realism for us since we tend to associate it with reality even though we only view it on a screen.

its a behind paywall graphic preset shader, with enough time testing you can create almost identical graphic with the correct combination of shader and tweaking.

a lot of people don't realize this is mostly just base cyberpunk with an LUT and path tracing. the LUT just changes the colors so the "realistic" look to it doesnt take much to run. whats heavy is the path tracing
The NOVA LUT is good but the tight FOV and DOF are way too much. Also all the surface detail disapears when moving too fast because the recording bitrate's too low.
But this is not nova lut, is it?
Most of the illusion is in the handheld-like camera shake.
Once the shooting starts and the enemies flop over with stock animations, there’s no hiding that it’s a video game.
Yea because that's how fps games usually look, so we associate with it immediately.
For a more realistic shooting, there's that bodycam game... But then it is way more limited than the setting of a cyberpunk futurist city
It's also the color grading, most of it is color graded to look like cameras (less saturation, etc)
this can look just as good and as realistic if you use regular RT, you don't necessarily need 4090 + DLSS + path tracing
I think some guy got it running on a 3050, so that says a lot
Nah, for me it's just the flat, plastic quality and the ghosting which makes it feel off. The tonemapping also feels off.
I thought the pedestrians in this video were moving a bit weird, def took it down a notch in the realistic department. It's really important to have a balance in look and feel. There are a lot of simple graphical games that feel real because of good balance (and gameplay of course).
Animation improvements are finally coming together with advancements in AI. I think the next few years will have super realistic character animations in store for us.
Cyberpunk irl version
Shame they downgraded to UE5 from RedEngine. Nothing in UE4 or UE5 runs or looks anywhere near as good as this. CDPR should have just paid the engineers more.
I feel like the animation and combat has hit an uncanny valley point with the visuals being so good.
It's the details that make it easy to differentiate real from game. take 1:05 for example, that car teleported there, because there is no tyre marks in the sand.
👆🤓
@@ZTw0 Thanks, I am smart. :)
It's not even that. It's the image quality being far different between the car model and the surroundings. That is one of the main reasons why high quality objects look scuffed with ultra realism mods. It negatively impacts the visual consistency, as IRL all objects are rendered at the same image quality and with a blur. There is also degradation of image quality from shadows IRL, and also depth of field and motion blur being ridiculously hard to imitate, especially because it is unable to track where the eyes are looking on screen. There is also the constant focusing and unfocusing, where your pupils dilate in order to take in the exact information you need.
The tire marks dont matter, because it is a limitation of the game itself rather than the realism mods.
The mods for cyberpunk are going off the charts, been having some insane shit going on for the past 2 years already, insane game with great potential

Can't wait for The Witcher 3, since they'll be releasing a modding tool, after almost 10 years!

Graphics don't matter.
I saw something like this before and it seemed to me to be real footage spliced with video game footage to make the game look better than it actually is.
yeah that bodycam shooting thing. this looks similar to me, especially the shots of the vehicles. they look like miniatures.
It's not real footage, the RedEngine is capable of scaling really well and running at decent frames. It's a shame CDPR abandoned it for UE5.
This is so good, that i had the "uncanny valley" effect watching this.
Looks incredible. The overcast sky is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Because there's no hard shadows and the image is de-saturated, your brain doesn't work as hard to fill the uncanny valley that plagues a lot of video game lighting. And the shakey camera also means our eyes aren't resting as much on details.
Cool tech demo of what we can achieve.
Still, gimme games with worse graphics & good gameplay & artstyle
bro its not a "demo" its full game with dlcs, you can play the entire game with these mods, these are just color LUTs.
you dont actually want worse graphics. you want good art direction.

Yes, they grey sky looks a bit off. But otherwise, it's pretty much photorealistic.
Super desaturated.
There's like, some tiny details, just those small near insignificant uncanny things that tell it is a generated space and not real; the cleanliness, the lack of scrapes and a bit of the lighting, how the traffic and NPCs move, but damn, the first time I saw the MC clip, I thought throughout the entire video that it was real.
How do they get the "handheld camara" movement. That's what makes ALL the difference.
I've seen mods like this for GTA IV 15 years ago, but games still don't look like this, and they never will. Photorealism is not the same as art design. Even movies don't look like this, because they use filters and color grading.
All these photorealistic mods always look the same. They give the game a natural, bland look. And if all games had this type of art style, they would all look exactly the same.
what's funny is vanilla cyberpunk is already arguably the best looking game out right now

i can't believe asmond the seasoned gamer can't distinguish between post-process edited videos from actual gameplay, if this was the real game it would implicate that the person who did this did a better job than the project red dev team in 10 years
I mean, how far are we to translate one to the other anyway? It will eventually happen and become trivial like every other tech we had, just need time.
Actually its not hard for dev team to make game like this. Problem would be that people PCs would not be able to handle it and it could not be sold on Xbox and PS5 as well. Remember that devs are making games according to console gen and PC mainstream setups...
Of course it's the real game. Of course it was likely the job of the single person. This mod required a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the work required to build the game and the rendering pipeline behind it to begin with. Also, CDPR clearly had a specific look they were going for, and this was not it; have you noticed that nearly the entire video takes place under overcast weather?
@@fangru7294 The game is already like this (not in the parts where they zoom-in cameras in cars) but in the actual gameplay only difference is that he is video post-processing the image a fool can see that
You seem to have no idea about the mods that exist on nexus mods. Path Tracing in this game is the best implementation I've ever seen, the game already looks very nice with PT and no mods. Now imagine there's mods that even take this further. And yes, THERE IS modders that did better job than the game devs in any game, but CP2077 has a lot of graphical limitations for optimization purposes (200+ hours play time, seen many with my eyes) so CDPR could have done a better job than what they did but you would have needed at least an RTX 3090 to run the game (would you, or any gamer agree with this?). Still, modders definitely can do better than game devs (take FSR3 Frame Generation for example, CDPR has not implemented yet but modders did months ago).
The post-processing effects is not done on the video, they are done in the game on the game graphics itself using a program called Reshade. modders and any one that like to mess with the game graphics and make it look better in their eyes use this program, which has almost unlimited amount of creativity and possibilities.

Damn that look's soo good... Now, can we see the same graphic at Lizzy's bar please? Just for research.
I think the realism is largely coming from the handheld movement in the camera, in addition to the blown out sky lighting hitting everything with the same kinda grey lighting. Same thing in that police cam fps game a year ago, to blow out the lighting is to tell your brain that some kind of physics is taking place, that the device you're viewing said scene through is being imposed upon by an overwhelming level of light it can't fully compensate for. Macro details like that are critical in some ways more than micro details.
We need to a leap in sound effects to complement this leap in graphics. The same current style of si-fi gun sounds feel like they are overstaying their welcome in this exhibition and sound out of place.
Always with the overcast lighting, wet roads and diffuse shadows...
