63-Year-Old Purse Found in Elementary School

- Armando Rodriguez made a shocking discovery while renovating Texas elementary school's gym. He found a 63-year-old purse beneath the floorboards. Turns out, the purse belonged to a 13-year-old girl named Beverly Williams. Inside her purse, she carried photos and other mementos, including a civil defense card from 1959. Sadly, she died in 2015. But her daughters were amazed to see old photos of their mother's classmates and their grandfather.
It’s sad that the original owner couldn’t see her lost purse.
Maybe she could see it after she died, and helped it reach her family.

In my freshman year, 1989, I lost my purse. In 2018, I got a call saying someone found it. Inside were still some scrunches, my coin purse, and many jumbo-sized tampons. It was very embarrassing because that headline went all around my town.

How precious of an experience for the daughters after a comfortable amount of time has passed since their mother went over the rainbow. I say it like that because all the consuming pain that we feel when love ones pass for a year or several after would definitely change the way they view this experience. Here they can experience with almost pure certain joy.
And this is so touching to see the daughters of this lady all together to discover all those little things in a vintage purse that belonged to their mom ❤❤❤

I love the story. It's always nice to go back to the memory lane. When you hear the story and you're really excited and want to know what happened to her after these many years.
I'm 30 and lost my purse at school in the 7th grade once. Hopefully they'll find it there in 63 years too. lol
You never know and maybe a contractor will find yours if he renovate your school.

I bet it broke her heart for a while after losing it. That's a lot of cherished mementos, photos, etc. It would have been great for her to get it back - but very nice that her daughters were able to get a little glimpse during her young teen years. Great story!
I remember 1959 I was 13 that year too. But I never had a fancy purse or any pictures to carry anything in. Wish I could go back to those days and be young again. So glad the children of this lady were able to be reunited with the purse.

What an amazing discovery! I’m sure if the lady was still alive, she would of been absolutely thrilled! Kudos to the man who found it and sent it somewhere safe and the historian who reunited it with the owners daughters. There was a similar story like this from IE that I watched probably a year ago. A young lady lost her purse in a theater in the 60s I think. Then an employee found it and was able to give it back to her when they found out whom it belonged to. It was full of her old treasures. Amazing stories!

Ahh shoot, she passed. Before they said that I crossed my fingers hoping she’d still be around. It would have been cool if they could have given it back to her in person. But, still so wholesome.

I keep all sorts of old photographs, school stuff, and important family keepsakes in a fireproof box that I open a couple times a year because I love the feeling of personally-oriented nostalgia. I think if I found something like this, I'd initially be way too excited to go through it lol

That was back when many elementary schools were still K-8! I always wished I could go to one of those schools. I had to grow up too fast, going to junior high in 7th grade. Now my son’s middle school is grades 4-8, and they start high school in 7th grade. Let kids be kids! ❤

Well, that's amazing. Just like a time capsule ,really enjoyed seeing this .makes you think what other treasure awaits out there . Too bad your mom couldn't be there to see it. That would have been cool ,to listen to what she had to say about the purse. Man reminds me of my grandmother so full of interesting things to talk about.
