Finally: an arrangement of the Final Fantasy Prelude for lever harp!! I think that those of us who play lever or celtic harp have thought this before - it just can't be done. Even I didn't try to make a lever harp arrangement of it for ages because I thought it would be too hard.
For those who aren't familiar with lever harps, when there's an accidental, each affected string must be changed with a lever individually; this means that for an arpeggio with 1 or 2 notes in the chord that must be altered, anywhere from 3 to 8 levers might need to be changed across the harp to play the original arpeggios as written. With both hands busy playing, this wasn't very feasible.
So, I wanted to create an adjustment that kept the spirit of the piece and the original harmonies, while reducing the number of levers and allowing enough time for what was left to be changed.
The result is the arrangement in this video; although I know not all of it is /exactly/ like the original Prelude from the games, that's often the nature of lever harp arrangements. Changes must be made to accommodate the music and the instrument. So I hope you like it!

I was very hyped when I heard you mention that you had a lever harp arrangement of this on stream and was curious to see how you'd do it. I think that, although it doesn't sound exactly like the original, your arrangement really carries the feeling of the piece, and I really like the changes. I even think the chords in the right hand sound quite a bit like the string/melody parts that are in some/most versions of the Prelude, but I have no idea if that was your intention.
That wasn't really my intention, but I'm glad it sounds that way to you! More so I still wanted to have the downward direction of the original arpeggio, while making it possible to play in the RH, leaving time for the left. Glad you liked it, thank you!

It's beautiful, and an interesting solution to the issue with the key changes the piece has.
And the video helped clearing up what to play with which hand. In particular the right hand marker in the 5th measure threw me for a loop and i was unsure what the intention was from the 7th measure on. Although, tbh, i still don't understand why the hands are switched up in the 5th and 6th measure...
Now i only need a harp with more than 34 strings, so i can play that C at the very top. And a LOT more practice...
The reason I play it that way is because otherwise, going from m.4 into m. 5, you have to do an awkward hop from left hand to left hand, or refinger the four-note groupings. So I've always just found it easiest that way, but of course you can play it any way you want! Looking at it again though, I can see how it might not be clear which hand does what

1) practice 2) move your hand fast (seems obvious but I've had lots of students really take their time getting to the lever haha!)

Many lever harps will not have the highest C string. It should still be possible to play this arrangement in G maj. (a fourth lower than the original).
Yes, there are all kinds of sizes of lever harps, so I just went with the key that I like to play in. But of course I always encourage people to make changes to make things work for their harp!
