Before I took the plane back to Germany, I decided to go to the city Düsseldorf. It was the beginning of Karneval some people dressed up it was also the beginning of the Christmas market. They had ice-skating ring food we decided to eat in one of those old restaurants then at five in the morning, I went to Düsseldorf to take the plane to Frankfurt back to Los Angeles California. It’s a weird feeling after 16 hours being in a complete different world again welcome to Venice Beach. - Zábava

You are torn between two places. I can empathize. You know where you belong. Your identity is strongly aligned to LA, but home is where the heart is.

Mike is caught between his family, friends and homeland and his love of southern CA and Venice Beach. Not an easy situation. Kind of sad to see his usual exuberance decrease as he works his way through those difficult priorities and choices.
As we get older, this will happen more frequently. Mid 50’s and older tend to be more settled, but he has a tough decision if has to choose between countries.

Friendships maintained across years and miles are very solid, and will give mutual support into old age. You can't put a price on that. Hope all ok with things in Venice now for you Mike. Getting booking that next trip to Germany so we can see you wonderful mam and your fun friends !

Not gonna lie Mike,it made me sad seeing you saying goodbye to your mom and all of your german friends. As we age good friends are so important to have. Cherish your friendships with Gogo and Tommy. I always think of a saying that I heard "The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time"

Mike, I can see how attached you are to your home in Germany. Family & friends are all there and you don't want to leave. I don't blame you, it's a beautiful part of the world , at least, a LOT more beautiful than L.A. or Venice (gag) Beach. Why don't you move back & continue your Vlogging there?.... Europe has so much more to offer with Vlogging and you have already proven that.!!!. Something to think about. By the way, you will never lose any friends on this end.

I came the first time to the US (San Francisco) in 1975 as an exchange student. One year later, I attended high school in the L.A. area, since than I came back again and again until I immigrated in 2002 and got married. Everything changed since the mid 70s, nothing for the better. Worldwide, we are living every day a dangerous life, very tragic and sad to recognize the truth.

Dearest GIV, You have such a light in your eyes while visiting Germany. In actuality a nation that gathers together and celebrates is Germany. In LA LA people go to the beach for solitude. You are warm hearted and people love you. Blood ,your blood, ain't getting any younger, spend your days with Mom before YoU Can't!
I hope Mike will spend six months in LA and six months in GER, to get the best, of both worlds, spend the winters in los angeles and summers in germany, and continue making videos.

I left my homeland of Ireland back in 79 and have lived in the USA ever since. I have been back many times to visit family and old friends. Usually, I spend about three weeks there, but like you, when I return stateside, it's like I wasn't even there. A strange feeling indeed. I think anyone who moves away from their homeland and lives somewhere else for a long time will always have a yearning for both. People who have never lived in another country don't really understand this.
