- ‘Awkward!’ Was Prince Harry relegation from Coronation front row ‘deliberate’? | Palace Confidential. Prince Harry’s flying visit to witness his father’s Coronation ended up looking pretty awkward. That’s the view of the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English who was in Westminster Abbey.
‘I thought his arrival was a bit awkward,’ she tells a special episode of Palace Confidential. ‘All the couples walk in together and obviously he was a single man walking in. And I noticed that he saw a couple of people to the left and right and said hello, but it was pretty awkward I thought.’ The Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden believes that were it not for the stream of tell-alls from the Sussexes, Harry would still have been sitting with his brother. As it was, he was in the third row, while across the aisle, Camilla’s children enjoyed a front row view. ‘Let’s not underestimate the significance of the seating plan,’ he says. ‘You’ve got Camilla’s children on the front pew at the Abbey and then you’ve got the King’s younger son on the third row. Let’s be clear, if there was no Oprah interview, no Netflix series, there was no tawdry memoir, I bet you Harry would be back on the front row. But he’s done so much to antagonise people that I think that’s deliberate.’

Harry CHOSE the changes that he is living with today.
No. SHE chose for him.
Harry’s choices were made by his own psychological needs what ever they may be. But I do hope to God that the family will reconcile one day because isn’t that what most families would like that have been fractured? I would hope to think so. Regardless of how much money or power or privilege you may have people still need to be loved and cared for by their families.
I think I finally know what he want to do. He want to stop Camilla but that’s way beyond his wit and capabilities and he obviously pick the wrong partner to do it.
I think he wanted best of both Worlds! Have his cake and eat it. Well done our Late Queen for saying NO!

For Prince Philip who was …Greek.
I heard it was made by a new business owner who received a grant .
The real ROCK in the whole coronation was Major Johnny. He was behind George giving him comments, he was all over buttoning the Kings garments, picking up the trail, etc. He made sure everything went off. The King owes him a great honor.
No politician could ever bring so many people together as the monarchy -- and if they have I have never seen it! This is Britain at its very best -- togetherness, unity, love for fellow human beings -- simply amazing

I don't know the second verse of our anthem either. I don't think Harry not sitting in the first pew necessarily meant anything, but, maybe "her pregnancy" had reason,...? He held up graciously, as did William, the King & Queen. Nothing so tacky as to be obvious. Regal behaviour.
Well placed father
I am from the United States. My daughter and I got up at 5 am EST so that we could watch the coronation unfold in real time. We sipped English breakfast tea from our Royal Stafford tea cups and totally enjoyed the worship service and the music and the crowning of King Charles and Queen Camilla. God save the King!
I’m American and thought the Coronation was fabulous. In addition to a few tears during the ceremony, the two other occurrences that brought tears to my eyes were the reverberations of the hip hip hoorays of the service personnel who participated in the coronation parade, and the cheers for KCIII & QC when the family was on the balcony. I was so pleased that the public & military demonstrated such support for the two of them.
There is a VERY small percentage of the whole country who don't support the Monarchy 💯 per cent.
and yet so much of America loves Trump who hs no sense of ceremony or dignified behaviour!

For children unused to such events, Camilla's grandsons behaved impeccably.
I found it very touching that Charles's Greek heritage was reflected in singing and laurel leaf decorations on clothing. His Greek grandmother is buried on the Mount of Olives, and oils from there were in the anointing oil.
She Wasn't Greek.
You must be thinking of Prince Philip’s mother Princess Alice of Battenburg (German descendant of Queen Victoria) who married Prince Andrew of Greece, who did not have a drop of Greek blood but was descended from Danish kings, surnamed Schleswig- Holstein- Sonderburg-Glucksburg. American here also. My favorite part was Psalm71 while Charles was presented with the sword. It gave the coronation an ancient feel and sent chills down my spine. It was a tribute to his father. And Major Johnny, always a pleasure to see the Hot Scot, and of course, Louis. He is so adorable.
Harry is no longer a working Royal. In fact, it is debatable whether he is even a member of the family anymore. He should expect no special treatment other that to be treated as any other vip would be treated. If he thought by attending the Coronation bridges would be re-built then i think he has had that idea well and truly dashed

Dior already tweeted that they custom made the suit Harry wore to the coronation. So he only came to make money merching his free suit, they usually give you a few outfits plus money for a good merch hash tag which is pitiful, that shows Harry is clueless on what service is.
Really? How tacky. Surely he had that sort of suit already anyway, from looking at Philip & the Queens funerals.
Even though 'couture' is beyond most people's budget, that's a good enough reason to boycott Dior. They do make accessories like handbags that many 'spoil' themselves to buy.
Why Harry attended. He walks the coronation and Meghan cashes Dior’s check.
Dior or not he didn’t look any better especially with that swag walk of his which is so undignified, he looked like his usual clown self trying to pretend, he still looked uncomfortable, smiling at people & they weren’t responding to him. it would have looked better for him if he just walked straight in without acting the smiling clown.

Apart from the moment with William, I found it very touching when Camilla curtsied to the King before being enthroned, and the way they locked eyes and he smiled.
I was struck by the humility of Charles throughout the service. Although being crowned King a profound humility was in his eyes and his words as he proclaimed to be a servant to Britain and her people. It brought me to tears quite frequently. God Save the King and Hip hip hooray indeed!!!

Penny Mordaunt was amazing in her role. She looked every inch a Wagnerian goddess. Lt .Col. Johnny Thompson was, as usual, quite an eyeful. The Princess Royal's red plume did its job admirably. The music was divine. Every aspect of this coronation was absolute perfection. Kudos to the Brits.....no one does pageantry better. ❤👑

The story behind the Crown Katherine and Charlotte wore. They were designed by someone that started a business from the Princes Grant. I thought it was quite a tribute to not only the person and their success but the fact that they started the business from the grant.
Absolutely, KC kneeling in a simple shirt - with the words that that he promised to serve rather than to be served. It was a moment that resonated with the most powerful and those not so. Incredibly emotional.
I was not prepared how religious the ceremony was, not unlike a Christening. I think this gives Charles the gravitas he might have been lacking and Camilla as well. Great show everyone. You're all a delight.
The direct look of pure hatred that was captured on camera of the traitor looking at his brother Prince William was quite chilling. King Charles needs to see this. May God protect and keep the Wales family.
DetroiterHere, you are spot on about Harry’s look, quite disturbing, a look of hatred not of sadness which a video I saw claim. Wonder why this ill feeling towards his Brother , does not make any sense at all. Could his mind be poisoned by ?
@@tanemily9604Hazbeen deeply resents that he was not the first born son & heir.
I didn’t see that but absolutely believe it.
@Tan Emily I believe that the traitor has always been a monster, and 'The Firm' was brilliant at selling to the world the 'cheeky, chappy prince' that we loved and felt very protective of. The only Royal more popular than him was HMTQ. When he hooked up with his twin flame, tw, she hissed in his ear EVERYTHING that he wanted to hear. What we are seeing is an unleashed treacherous traitor of simmering hate and resentment. As an American, I am appalled that he his in my country wreaking havoc. After many decades of strong support for the monarchy, I have withdrawn that support. I wish the crown well, but no longer have much interest. If and when Prince William ascends to the Crown I may revisit this support, provided he stops going down the same damn woke road as his dear Papa. The rage of the drug fueled manchild is a danger to his country, his family, my country, to his own children, and to himself. Lady C has been going on for months with cryptic hints that action will be taken after the coronation. I am not holding my breath, but rather my nose!

My eyes were sore after the Coronation, it was so moving. I first saw Charles as a gawky history student at a concert more than 50 years ago. He looked almost overwhelmed by the awesome occasion yesterday. I hoped he would bear up. I was also deeply moved by the way in which the King expressed his beliefs, his character and his perception of his role through his choice of invitees and the glorious music. Camilla looked beautiful, regal and supportive.
Charlotte is starting to look so like her late grandmother. Loved the coordinated headgear that she and Catherine were wearing. Such a confident and helpful child. The young boys carrying the King's and Queen's trains did really well - closely supervised by the gorgeous Lt. Colonel Thompson in full Highland rig. This was incredible…the whole thing. And the best part? The world focused on THE KING. 🇬🇧 Even the media outlets here in the USA. 🇺🇸
Not the raging narcissist in the third row.
Is your comment really necessary???
In order to become a narcissist, one must be raised by parents who offer inadequate warmth, affection and unconditional approval of the child for the individual as they are. Couple that with incredible privilege and wealth, and 'Voila!", a narcissist is born.
I live in Texas and I didn’t see it and do not know anyone who did. I caught a few moments for the history of the occasion but it’s not my country and not my king. It was interesting but most Americans were not that interested. I’m glad it all went well for the people of the UK though.
As for Harry, I don’t pay attention to him no matter where he is.
@@denisejohnson9700 a narcissist is made from a very bad situation OR from too "good" a situation where their ego is never reigned in.
@@denisejohnson9700what balderdash! His wife and Harry were both raised with love and best of everything . Di and Charles co parented wonderfully. The boys knew they were loved. Harrys bs is easily disproved . He said the opposite about his brother and father until Evil woman took over his life. Go back a bd look! Sugars are like Harry easily manipulated and told what to say .. when to breath.. etc. etc.
Just wanted to say the British Military did a Phenomenal job. I truly love the Pomp and Pageantry that they put on. And to see King Charles clearly moved.
The last picture of the King and the Queen speaks volumes…very touching beautiful…❤❤
I write from South Africa & watched the whole thing on my computer....truly it was a most spectacular & deeply moving event. The music & singing was divine & the wording of the Service so significant & meaning full....I loved it all.....blessings from South Africa
The peeling bells and the soaring choirs gave me goosebumps... on my shins. That NEVER happens! 🙏
Great comment!
The Bells were PEELING and absolutely stunning! I could almost say the Bells stole the show but most certainly made for it!
What a wonderful moment in History, a Country and Commonwealth united, people from all over the world attending. Thankyou to "all" who have worked and dedicated themselves. The Military were spectacular! The police and security who kept "all" safe. To be able to witness History and it's traditions was remarkable.
Couldn’t agree with you more!
Very well said 💞🇺🇸🇬🇧
And please dont forget those nighttime rehearsals!
@@marybusch6182 Yes indeed, I actually watched the rehearsals, I also enjoyed the video which detailed the work involved to ensure the horse's were perfectly presented, and the care to ensure their comfort, example the farriers part. The detail, presentation, training/union of rider, and craftsmanship absolutely brilliant.
When Charles and Diana married, the people who lined the streets were asked to "adopt a bobby" to ensure a safe event.
I watched it and I agreed that it was FANTASTIC 🎉❤🇨🇦
I'm also glad that everything went well and safe.
As a Brit in South Africa I loved the whole day. Such wonderful pageantry and a very moving coronation service especially King Charles and Prince William’s moments.
Kathrine looked absolutely beautiful and classy ❤. What a lady!
I think palace confidential is the best commentary show on the Royals. And Jo Elvin, I think you’re perfect as a hostess - so affable, and with a great sense of humor! I love it when all of you get tickled about something and make it so light and enjoyable. And the same goes for all of your other “regulars” on the show. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely spot on! It is a treat to watch!
Except for Tessa Dunlop who's still invited to comment! 😏
I absolutely adore Anne, Princess Royal. She is such a hardworking royal. She reminds of Queen Elizabeth so much. I especially loved her long feathered hat today! God Bless the Royal Family! Long live King Charles III.
We had organised our holiday to London from Australia 8 months ago not realising it would coincide with the coronation. The atmosphere was lovely you Brits are extremely lucky to have a royal family whose duty to service surpasses any ever elected offical.
I do respect that the King didn’t want to flash around jewels … but when we are having tough times, it’s the tiaras and jewels and beautiful clothes and coaches, etc. that can lift our spirits and give us a moment of magic!
But he was happy to flash around fur??
@@juliansydney9819 Very old fur.
Milkweed: That is because you are a generous and kind person, and do not expect Royalty to feel guilty that they have historical jewels. All Britons should be happy to see those tiaras, as you would have. I do respect King Charles for not wanting to flaunt them, of course.
@@juliansydney9819
Very, Very, Very, Very old fur.
The ladies will dress differently for the dinner and concert.
I too loved Penny Mourdant’s clothing. I think it was designed to go with the Abbey altar cloth and matching copes on the clergy which were ivory and gold with an emblem of the same green as Mourdant’s clothes. There were a couple of copes in the same colour. I think this helped give a cohesiveness to the overall look near the altar during the service. Well planned and executed.
It was wonderful except it was too tight and too low-cut for a religious ceremony. It was not the occasion to see rolls or cleavage.
She really looked stunning
I could not get over how the color and simplicity of her garb accentuated the beauty of it. I was awed at the attire.
The Coronation took my breath away… and thank you for your coverage, as you’re all wonderful.🇺🇸
I was surprised & moved by just how vulnerable Charles looked in his white shift. Looked elderly & slight. Didn’t really look ‘himself’ until back on the balcony. A beautiful ceremony with Penny Mordaunt as the Valkarie guiding the way & looking resplendent as she carried out her duties to perfection.
Today was all about Charles and being crown king and the whole historic event. It was nice seeing people supporting Charles and not one person ever mentioned Harry and Meghan unless asked and it wasn’t the day for the press to even mention them. Just one nice event without the drama
An absolutely beautiful and spiritual ceremony. Loved everything about it - the music, the reverence - the king was so emotional, my heart went out to him. Queen Camilla was so nervous! but her love and pride in the king shone through. And her smiling at people she knew seemed to relax her. Unfortunately, that ghastly person from SkyNews, Kay Burley, had to make her normal snide remarks about the cost of the day.
@@MsGuppie2010 theirs always someone to ruin it but she sure was there to see all the glimmer and glare just the same. Isn’t how funny how people do that
A relief for Harry as well I’m sure. The press can’t stop talking about Harry and Meghan.
@@sugarplumk2381 Because Harry and Meghan can't stop talking to the press lol. They spoke to Oprah, 60 minutes, 6 episode Netflix docu, a whole book of whining, interviews interviews interviews. Oh Spare me from all the whining!
For people who preach relentlessly about "privacy" they sure do everything they can to have all their thoughts and lives as public and non-private as possible... But sure, enjoy life in your bubble of perceived victimhood for them, much like your idols do.
I’m an American - and arose at 5 AM to watch the coronation live! I was thrilled to see Richard Eden out with the crowds, doing his affable & charming thing! I found the entire event moving & spectacular and if no one else has mentioned the music, I must! It was sublime and the choirs were magnificent. 🎉 Goosebumps all the way around.
I’m on the west coast and stayed up all night watching the coronation, while hubby and the dogs snored next to me 😂 it was a lovely ceremony.
Same from Argentina ❤
The music took my breath away!

A special recognition to the photographers for those great pictures. Along with you guys that brings us joy when giving us news. We’ll done.
Thank you for a WONDERFUL episode -- there is nothing better than listening to your core team chatting about all things royal. And, the montage at the end... you've outdone yourselves! Beautiful!!!
I was very fortunate as an American to be able to view this moment in history via CZcams on my phone. I considerate it almost as momentous as when I saw the first man walk on the moon in 1969. Those who are throughly interested in the world and history do not confine their interests to their own native country. A big thumbs up to the British no one does pageantry quite like they do👍🏻. Congrats to King Charles and the British people for a job well done. 👍🏻
It’s good to read this. I’m British and these events never fail to raise deep emotion in me. We are so fortunate to have these magnificent buildings. It never ceases to amaze me of the skills that were needed to create such masterpieces.
Exactly! A US American living in France here, absolutely loving being surrounded by rich history at every turn. I’ve become a BBC History Extra addict, watch television documentaries from several European countries, CZcams channel shows (like Palace Confidential) and the Coronation will be right up there in my most extraordinary memories like the Mercury 7, assassinations of the Kennedys and MLK Jr, 9/11. After watching this today, I’m thinking “Why didn’t I go?”
Magical.
Thank you Ariston5433, for your kind remarks, so pleased you enjoyed the Coronation . from England 🇬🇧
Except we never made it to the moon….that took place on a movie set.

🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 What a beautiful and unforgettable coronation!!!!
As an Australian I was overwhelmed with the pageantry, the beauty of the occasion and I also shed a tear when the King was kneeling in his white shift he seemed so vulnerable. You could see the King and Queen were so solemn and touched by the service. I sat up and watched the whole experience and will treasure the moment forever ❤ I wish my Mum had been alive to witness it all. 😞
I watched it with my Grandmother and Daughter, very touching. 🇦🇺
me too i cried a few times
Ditto as an Aussie. My mum died a few month before Prince Philip died, so she missed the late Queen's Funeral, and now the King's Coronation. I was amazed to see the Medieval links (ie in paintings of Medieval kings), which now make sense to me having watched this on TV last night. It's amazing to see the Queen's Funeral, now the King's Coronation. Admittedly, I preferred the pomp of the colours in the soldiers in Queen's Funeral. Maybe it was just the drab day, or something. Yet, the Coronation Service was very educational. And yes, sad there were no tiaras, etc. Hopefully William will return to tiaras in the Coronation when his turn comes in the future.
Ausdie here. I loved all of it too
Me too! 🇦🇺
