  • A COSINA CT-1 SLR , not so famous BUT works perfectly ! It performed well in the heat and humidity of the Philippines and I show some prints taken with it.

    Nice review! Just got the CT-1A version with Cosinon 50/1.8. Love the accent too. I was curious for the 50/2 but you slapped a Pentax lens on. Naughty ;)

    I have the ct 1a and it seems a good camera.
    I like the split circle focus screen, the metal shutter blades, metal lens mount. .
    Everything works and seems good.
    A good lens is more important than an an expensive camera body.
    PS Perhaps some black thread would work for the very narrow light seal replacement?
    The right diameter and right material would be important.

    I had a PM-1, which I believe was the same, but branded by the Photomarket chain. Easily better than the Zenith cameras my friends had when I was a kid!

    Nice little camera, Peter. Although Cosina SLRs never took off against more established competition, the company went on to make Voigtlander branded rangefinder cameras and lenses (M39 screw and Leica M bayonet mount), which are very well thought of indeed, so no surprises that your lens is sharp.
    The CT-1 closely resembles the Bessa L, minus the pentaprism. Same shutter, release, lock, frame counter, rewind. Rather like Ricoh owning Pentax, the lesser known Cosina company outlived the better known camera brand.

    • @theoldfilmbloke
      @theoldfilmbloke  Před 3 lety

      Look as if there is a FAULT with the Frame Counter , same as on my Yashica FR-1 which is stuck on 'Start' -- you will need to get the top taken off to fix it -- may be a broken plastic bit inside.

    Thank you for your video! Just found a Cosina ct1 super at home and this has been really helpful. However, I can't seem to find the needle you are talking about that shows if the exposure is correct, I can only see a "+ • -" on the left that turns red when I slightly press the shutter. Would you be able to help? Thank you!

      @theoldfilmbloke  Před 8 lety +4

      davedavito : I read a lot in photography Forums such as 'Flickr' and watched some youtube videos. Then I got some black sheets of foam from 'Hobby Crafts' shop in Romford, Essex for 80 pence -- I had a 'rotary trimmer' already bought for £ 1 at my Camera Club's Auction which cuts very narrow strips, then I used a toothpick and one drop of Lighter Fuel bought in Poundland shop for £ 1 to clean out the old foam and pushed in the new foam strips with the toothpick cut to length with a sharp knife. You also need some cotton buds to help clean out the old foam.Americans all seem to use 'Isopropyl Alcohol' but is is very difficult to get in UK, so I used Lighter Fuel.

    But I'm trying to make a double exposure shot and I'm not sure if i's possible; the second photo it's not shot. Do you know if I can do this technique with this camera? Have you ever tried?

    Thanks, Peter-- for a good camera review... But my CT-1 has no side PC flash contact. Also the Butkus.org on line manual for this camera says to use a 1.3V H-S battery. Your Alkaline battery 1.5V will alter meter exposure?? I need some info on that, please.

    • @theoldfilmbloke
      @theoldfilmbloke  Před 7 lety

      You will have to remove the plastic Base-Plate 3 Cross Point JIS type screws and when you have it off examine WHY the Rewind Button is Stuck. If you do NOT have 'JIS' type Screwdrivers a very small cross-point of a ' Spectacle Repair Set. may fit - i got mine from Maplins until I got the correct 'JIS' Screwdriver set.

      @@francescogiocondo65 Firstly You might try opening the battery access - take out the battery - and with a good bright light looking for corrosion in the battery compartment - I use a sharp exacto blade to scrape or check YT. Secondly look like a pro and buy a light meter. Thirdly - there are films that if you reference their exposure guide you’ll get - like Ilford’s XP2 b&w or Fuji 400 color slide or print. In my book these are great films. CVS will process the XP2.

      Old post. Did you sort this out?
      Fairly certain this is a voltage issue. They discontinued the mercury 1.35v button batteries. When improvising, I've read that is where people encounter problems...
      Not sure if there is a conversion to 1.5v?

    • @francescogiocondo65
      @francescogiocondo65 Před 10 měsíci

      @@RascalKyng well long story short...i send the ct-1 for repair and they did nothing, they just say that is "deterioration" (and i paid for this...damn). In the meantime i bought another one, same battery and it is working VERY GOOD. I will open my bad ct-1 and try to fix, i'm sure it is some contact (of some electronic?) and the service was not done right. So i can say that with the new battery type the CT-1 works very well, if it is intact inside!
