  • “When a service member dies in the line of duty, a CrossFit hero workout is created in their name. Hero WODs are an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of the fallen, to speak their name and honor their memory ...”
    Who is Murph?
The hero workout #Murph made its CrossFit Games debut in 2015 and returned for a second time in 2016. The workout - created in memory of Navy Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in the line of duty on June 28, 2005, in Afghanistan - begins with a one-mile run, includes 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and ends with another mile run, all with a weight vest.
In 2015, Kari Pearce made her first Games appearance and earned a top-five finish in Murph. The next year, Pearce took her first career event win when she finished Murph in 36:42.42. On the men’s side in 2016, Josh Bridges crossed the finish line in 34:38.83 and took first place in the event.

I can actually walk without a walker or cane thanks to weeks of PT. But I want to get stronger. I found your videos and they are so doable. Just perfect for me. You and your mother are a delight. Mochi wandering in and out, I can relate to that. Cats are the best. I wanted to say thanks so much. I feel stronger everyday and look forward to exercising with you. Keep up the good work.

the comment section definitely did not pass the vibe check. you all probably don’t even know what it’s like to burn an ounce of energy. crossfit is a sport it’s just like anything else so saying “why are people doing this to themselves” and what not is the same as saying why do people play football or basketball or any sport in competition. these athletes are doing it for themselves bc it makes them feel good it makes them happy it’s rewarding. not to mention this workout they’re doing is a highly respected and world known workout that is dedicated to the one of the bravest men that ever fought for america. you should all think before you type.

@@samgao his own DAD was quoted in that article as saying that he loved CrossFit. I don't know what further "proof" you need. And just because you can't kip the pull-up in the BUD/S test does not mean that it isn't a useful pull-up nor that Michael Murphy never did it. Yes, he called the workout "Body Armor" but it was renamed "Murph" in his honor. Stop trying to hate, especially when you don't know how Michael Murphy actually did the workout.
