  • In this video I chat with David Coletta, a super contributor in the Softr community. David has a backround in code, and has recently become a Softr enthusiast. So much so that he is building a web app using Softr, and turbocharging it with some back-end coding. It is intended to help other builders who are creating web apps using Softr, to help them securely trigger any Airtable Automation using Airtable Webhooks, from a wide range of actions or events that might take place inside of your Softr web app.. for example when a user visits a certain page, this might trigger the Airtable Webhook which starts your Airtable Automation.
Hope you like it, and thanks for watching. You can check out David's Softr Web App called "AppSpan" here:

Appreciate the comment Graham! Are you working on any no-code projects?

@@no-code I’m using AT & Softr to store & share all my family photos and letters collected over the last 60 odd years. I first learnt to program at school using punch cards in 1974 so I am loving the ‘lego’ approach of no-code.

This tool looks great! Unfortunally I am not able to test the trigger (frozen on starting... , not switching to sending... or sent)

What are the usecases of softr where fillout is less convenient?

Great Video Jamie and David! I would love to learn how to comment on Images or annotate/draw on top of them for images previewed in Softr. This can be done in Airtable, but I figured that there is probably a way to embed this function using a custom code block. Would this be possible/do you know a solution to this problem?

Thanks for the insight David to AppSpan and Jamie for hosting. So am I right that I can consider using AppSpan in place of Integromat. Also was the webhooks created through Integromat exposed at all, like the java script you were describing? Hope you understand these real no-coder questions!

Hi Mab! I don't think it is quite a replacement for Integromat... it is more if you would like to trigger an Airtable automation directly based on certain actions inside of your app e.g. if a user visits a certain page in your Softr app, then trigger an airtable automation! Currently in Softr, there is no native way to do something like this.. the only native way in Softr to trigger an Airtable automation currently is via a Softr Form submission through your app... though this is likely going to change down the line looking at their roadmap!! I feel Integromat (now "Make") still has its own place in terms of performing any backround logic, integrations or automations, in scenarios where it may not be achievable or may not be easily achievable through Airtable native automations! hope this helps!

The host talked too much, let the guest speak and share his knowledge. In addition, I found it distracting when it kept cutting to the host instead of staying on the guest speaker...he was sharing a lot of insightful bits and it kept cutting to the host who was reacting to the info.
