Hmm... credit bureaus. Have you ever wondered where the idea of those security questions come from? It's almost like they were designed so that information could be pulled out of them during normal conversations. How bad has internet security come when you have to make up answers that do not relate to truth at all just for a chance at security? Then on top of it, the debt collection industry in America is by far one of the scummiest sectors out there.
For tax and business purposes, we will share all comments with friends to see if your meme potential is in good standing. You may have rights not enumerated in this contract in your jurisdiction, sooo, eat a dick ane sue us if we violated you.

The idea that if you know something that the other person should normally know, then you can confirm their identity. Made since in the age before mass data collection and social media. Now that info is just easy enough to get.
They designed the problem, and they are ready to sell us the solution in the form of a central bank digital currency.
Oh and why do you think they call China's program the "Social Credit Score?"
I had this concern long ago and usually enter some password, which I write down on a piece of paper and hope for not losing it.
To this day I run into people who say "what do I care what they have on me, I've done nothing wrong".
They aren't worried about the wrong they.
Privacy is the right to be left alone
I've had people say "well I don't care if they steal my money/identity, I'm broke!"
There is a huge portion of the population that does not care, cannot care, and will never care even if it happens to them.
Sometimes I forget America has normalised tools like TLOxp and I remember how lucky I am to live in Europe.

Have yall heard of that ad campaign where the Ad would show your personal data ? We should do that to show the people who say "Well I dont have anything to hide". Let them see their name, location, age, search history etc
Haha, yeah the "I have nothing to hide so I have nothing to worry about" crowd seem pretty naive to me.
@@StarsManny I have relatives that r like that

For education, there's FERPA
For medical and workplace, there's HIPPA
for Credit bureaus, big businesses, and tech companies? *IT DOESN'T MATTER, SELL THAT DATA!*
HIPAA
@@JER0ENapparently that's a Mandela Effect, HIPPA vs HIPAA.. who'd have guessed?
@@forbiddenera Since you're claiming the Mandela Effect, mind telling me what "HIPPA" means? Because with HIPAA it is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
There was a situation at my local high school a few weeks back that I'm actually pretty sure was caused by one of those services to shut down a school using a fake 911 call. The call claimed that there were pipe bombs in the bushes around the school yet the police found nothing. Quite scary to see it potentially happening this close to me.
We focus on the technology but the saddest part is the people behind them. We failed miserably as a society and we're on a downwards spiral to a very bad place.
I honestly, honestly believe there will always be unpleasant, exploitive people out there and there always have been. Society can't control everyone and I do not think they should either
blame social media. people committing crime used to be willing to do the time. Now its kids being way over their head. The comical thing is, you can easily use the tools against criminals too. Especially if they have a charge or conviction already.
@@user-zi1kr4kd1v There are certainly many reasons/incentives for such things that could be mitigated, especially in dealing with the worst of them, who we mostly have great respect for. :/
@@user-zi1kr4kd1v The issue is that it's normalized, exist will exist but this is commonplace. Which is what makes it extremely dangerous and concerning.

I think part of the information they get is from voter registrations. I say this because I messed up in a voter registration form and I saw the same mistake in one of those people search sites. And you can get info on a person via voter registration pretty easily.
Except voter reg sites are run by the gov't so...pretty hefty penalties if you are identified as abusing the tool

If you've never had a credit card most of the bureaus don't know you exist. I thought someone opened a card in my name so I called all the bureaus and none of them knew I existed. Turns out my dad opened a credit card and we have the same name.
There's also a bunch of other publicly available repositories of this kind of data. The unclaimed money database comes to mind.

The data/personal privacy in US is bad. Thanks for great informative video.
When you record your audio the LR balance is slightly to the left. No problem through speakers, but its uncomfortable with headphones in

in this case, it's old school stuff which exists before you have any say in any of it nor any way to do anything about it.
Remember that ad campaign? where the ad showed you your personal details ? We needa bring it back to make people realize
@@AeduoOK, but what does that have to do with us being the product?
@@repatch43 it's more that it's an irrelevant statement. That statement is in relation to people utilizing "free" services by giving up data. This is about data that's basically given up at birth.
@@Aeduo I don't see why that makes a difference. We are the product, and we need to realize that more. We need to push back on this more. We need to be more careful who we give our information to, and we need to push for more regulation on those that have our information.
Trying to restrict this to just cases where we're getting a service for 'free' misses ALOT of situations, like this one, that are even more damaging.
Really think if Hudson was on the ship for the show down on the sulaco ,some of the others would of likely also been there even a with increased overwatch ,even a unwounded Hicks ,Queen may of been met with a hail of pulse rifle and grenade fire , seriously doubt even a queen would be able to withstand this.

I‘m so glad for the GDPR. The monetisation of data in the US is insane
The GDPR failed look into it
you could just make a private investigator company you don't need to steal anyone's identity. making a company just takes money, money is like the ultimate hacking tool.
About these credit scores.. is Europeans in these databases if I bought a service from a US company?
I don't know how nobody mentioned this, but your mic sounds way louder on the left side of my headphones. Might wanna downsample it to mono, really no reason to have stereo microphone audio.
Edit: I saw someone did mention it already, my bad! Good video tho!
Here in Brazil ANY business can have access to tha kind of info as long as they pay.

It is really sad how they use it.. thx for info
In Sweden, all of this is public for everyone..
Selling private info for only $15? This sounds like skiddies to me. And something tells me that they don't understand just how many nation state actors are going to get involved in this.
These things are bots ran on telegram hosting on servers it’s not easy to exactly catch them and most purchase the TLO xp login. It’s def a problem
It will get shutdown once feds get proven complicit. People keep thinking its run of the mill criminals doing this shit and its not.
State actors don't need to pay these third parties for it.
@@Aeduo depending on the country, most state actors are acquiring money and crypto to fund further ops. who do you think is selling such bots? This has been a thing for years, this used to be service for 3 dollars, iykyk , the only thing new and scary is the fact they can start at 18 years olds now.
Another thing you can do is stop using services that sell your data. For a computer use Linux, for phone use graphemeOS or another custom android ROM like lineageOS. For mail use proton
But what can you do for real life services, like, insurance, banking, heck, even car rentals and restaurants? Or even products, like cars, TVs, and washing machines? Nowadays it seems like everyone wants to get a piece of your personal data.
"stop using services that sell your data" ha good one. I wonder if sale of data just needs to be banned. It's frustrating to have to tick a box on every site I visit for basic traffic cookies like page views because they're lumped in with marketing cookies.
bruh
as mentioned in the vid, the credit companies are the source of the info this time
what r u gonna do? not use banks? not buy house? not buy anything?
while the methods u mentioned can mitigate data collection, it doesn't matter if the bad actors are getting the data from the "government" themselves who already have everything on u
