    Not all pine species get their seeds spread by the wind. Some species have their seeds in the form of a nut that get spread by animals. For example, such are the Swiss pine, the Siberian pine, the Korean pine, the Chinese White pine and some others.

      It depends on the weather, if it is warm it can only take 10 days to germinate.

      I didnt buy those seeds, I got the cones from some trees planted in our area.
      For you, first look for those trees in gardens or forests.
      If you dont find any, you can find them in this website WWW.ETSY.COM

      Yes. No need for the fridge.
      The seeds needs some warm weather so they can germinate.

      On the container to keep the moisture inside but make some small holes so the seeds wont rot

      You can place them in a shady location.
      The paper need to be wet all the time so you seeds can germinate.
      If you put them in a sunny and hot location you have to water them all days.

      No you have to cover the container with a plastic cover or anything just dont let the paper dry out.
      If it dries out dont panick just water it again with a sprayer.

      If you have a closed green cone just put it inside a bag and leave it in the sun for a few weeks.
      It will be opened and the seeds comes out instantly.

      Yes it should be watered immediately.
      For how many days I cant tell because it depends on the weather in your area.
      Always check the soil and only water if it is dry.

      it needs to be covered to keep the paper wet.
      But you have to let put some small holes to prevent the seeds from rotting.

    Out of dozens of pinecones I collected last year, I only got two plants from all the seeds, one died, the other is tiny at maybe 1 year old. It has barely any needles, and doesn't seem to be growing at all really. It is green, so I know it is alive. Is this normal? Is this just bad luck?

      Pine trees are too senstive when they are small you have to treat them carfully I mean a good soil
      And never overwater the plants

    For me, it took just 4 days. I think because I added some banana juice to it and had more nutrition. And @plantingeeks awesome video! Yours was the only idea that worked! thx :)

      When they are big enough but not oppened yet.
      Even if the cones are green and closed just get them.
      Put them in sunny location inside a bag or anything.
      Because if there is some wind you wont find any seed.

      @@plantingeeks8661 germinate in area with shade i.e. outside porch, & mist daily, or as needed? (It's high 70s to mid 80°F here.) Once I plant the seedlings do they prefer shade/indirect sunlight, or do they like full-sun 🌞? Also, do they prefer being watered from the bottom or top?

      @@HsHobbyHomestead the seedlings can do well in full sun but if it is more than 35c in mid day I dont garante the seedlings would make it.to be so sure just put them in a shady location they can get 4 hours of morning sun

      Imma failed to propagate the seeds. The quality of seeds are not good (dead seeds) but I will try again. So now I ordered 4 saplings of Pinus roxburghii from online store. Now I'm waiting for it to come. ☺

      I planted many almost a month ago. And now there are 2 very small ones springing out.
