  • In an attempt to walk off a couple of mince pies, I decided to do one more wander before the year is over and walk on the Rochdale Canal from Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge, but with a few diversions along the way.
As the canal and river running next to each other, you can often find remnants of past mills and factories en route. that would have harnessed the water power to run them.
We pass through Luddenden Foot and Mytholmroyd and make it to Hebden as darkness falls.
All best wishes for 2024, Thanks for watching over the last 3 years. đŸ˜ŠâœŒïž

I once had an Embroidery shop in Walkley Clogs back in 1990. Also on my floor was a silver smith ,a wool shop , and a leather turners , some great memories from there .the christmas shop was amazing and at one point somewhere near the top floor they kept bees making Walkley clogs honey.. such a great place for it's time. Sundays were the busiest with coach loads of people visiting. Amazing place 👍

Yeah, it was quite unique. Funnily enough I think it was ahead of its time, it'd probably do amazing business today as a tourist spot for Hebden.

What a shame that statue is only a stump now.

@matparks08 That's terrible! There's some animal carvings in a couple of parks up here in Stockport that were cut from tree trunks and they're falling back into the earth now as untreated wood does. I thought that's what might have happened to this statue.

Yeah, not on this occasion unfortunately. At least there are pictures.
