- The UltraSwing spare tire carrier is designed for Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent, Impreza, and any other Subaru with a 2-inch hitch receiver.
When designing the UltraSwing the Subaru lineup was high on our priority list for vehicles we wanted to make a perfect solution for.
The UltraSwing tire carrier features a swing-away secondary hitch for a bike rack as well as a lower tow-rated receiver. The UltraSwing can also accommodate accessory mounts including spare fuel cans, a drop-down camp table, and Hi-Lift Jack.

Just got mine used and its in great shape.
Stoked to hear it!
We have nothing like this in australia which is a shame . We are huge in 4wding/overlanding culture . I have a nissan Xtrail same style as a forrester and i think this is a great idea guys keep it up. Merry xmas from sydney australia
I have contacted a Manufacturer in Dandenong who custom makes these now. Their qoute was $1,265 for a custom made based on my Ford Territory. It a Tyre Trek version of the Swing Away in Hitch 50 mm (2 inch) reciever. They requires a $100 deposit, and 3 - 4 weeks to make. I have passed the details onto my local 4wd place, and asked them for a qoute of a bumper fitted swing away versus a hitch mounted swing away from the dandenong factory. I will report back when I get more information from 4wd place and if it worth it for me to get the custom made reciever version. Having LPG means my spare wheel is sitting on cargo floor, and no way to fit a inside spare wheel bracket. Have also found out about Mirack, a US version that use to be sold in Australia over in Perth. The Dandenong company is called TJM.
This is exactly what I’ve been needing for my forester!!
Glad to hear it 🤙
The hitch looks great on the Subie.
I’ve been told that any swing away that works on them can also be fitted on a Honda Element. Wanting some clarification here before I order.
Our Multi-Fit UltraSwing will fit on an Element 👍We've seen some great looking Elements with UltraSwings. www.rigdsupply.com/products/rigd-ultraswing-multi-fit-spare-tire-hitch-carrier
The Ultraswing looks awesome! Any solutions/recommendations to relocating the backup camera on my Subaru Outback?
Thanks for the question. Subaru is super challenging to offer a plug-n-play kit because Subaru changes connectors per year/make/model/trim, however, the camera can be relocated by extending the factory camera and relocating. We can supply the brackets.
Since the spare tire is not the same size as the other tires, you need to convert from AWD to front wheel drive. If this is not done, the differential will be damaged.
The UltraSwing is designed to carry a full-size matching spare tire. This is a huge benefit for any AWD vehicle owner because it ensures you can continue on your travels without only driving 50 miles at 50 mph, and more importantly, stressing over damaging the differential.
How do you increase the tongue weight by over 4 times the factory spec for a 2" hitch? As I've understood the tongue weight rating was limited by the mounting of the hitch to the "frame" rail locations on Subarus.
Thanks for the question, to clarify, you should never exceed the tongue or trailer weight of your vehicle. The UltraSwing's capabilities will always be limited to whatever your vehicle's are. Why these work on 2017+ Mazda CX5?
What size is you tires and rims have 2009 subaru forester
I have a factory installed hitch (1.25 inch receiver), is there a plan to accommodate this in the near future? factory hitch only comes in 1.25" size receiver in my knowledge.
Hey Anthony, thanks for the question. We will not be accommodating the 1.25 hitch, it's not strong enough for our products intended use. We recommend going with a Curt 2" hitch.
Would this work with an 07 Impreza hatchback? Had a few roads trips where I wish I had a full sized spare. I don't have a hitch so maybe a roof mounted one might be better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
It would work if you get a 2" Curt hitch installed.
Maybe i missed this in the video- but is there any security for removing the wheel for when I'm parked with it in the city?
For the spare wheel itself, locking lugs on the wheel plate do a fantastic job. For the UltraSwing itself, the use of a locking hitch pin will make it very difficult to steal.
Awesome product... will it fit or do you make one for an 08 Jeep Liberty KK?
Our Multi-Fit will fit your Liberty 👍 www.rigdsupply.com/products/rigd-ultraswing-hitch-carrier-multi-fit
So I have this exact same Subaru and color. 2009 Forester. I went on the link on the description, and it looks like you only have this tire rack for an Outback. Do you not have anymore for other models?
Hey Jeremy, sounds like you're viewing our 3D builder. That is not a fitment guide. Just a visual tool. We have fitments for ALMOST any vehicle in existence. You'll want our Multi-Fit version. www.rigdsupply.com/products/rigd-ultraswing-multi-fit-spare-tire-hitch-carrier
can i still tow a camper trailer with the ultraswing on a crosstrek
Yes, learn more about safe towing practices here: www.rigdsupply.com/pages/how-much-should-i-tow-with-an-ultraswing
will the stock back up camera still work on a 2020 crosstrek or would i have to attach a new camera?
The stock camera would be blocked. You'd need to relocate, which unfortunately on Subarus the best way is to remove and extend the factory camera. Any competent AV Auto shop should be able to handle it.
@@rigdsupply6945 ok awesome! thank you for the fast response!
will it block the back up camera on my 2016 outback?
Thanks for asking. Yes, the camera will be blocked and need to be relocated to maintain use. You can either relocate the factory camera, or add an aftermarket camera like the rearview mirror style if you plan to take the UltraSwing on and off between trips. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@rigdsupply6945 Can your shop do the relocation of the camera?
@@rigdsupply6945 I would love more information on the relocating of the factory reverse camera, also how does this affect the rear collision system?
Hi,
Will this work with 2016 jeep cherokee trailhawk? I got a 2'' factory hitch receiver.
Yes it will! The Multi-Fit with Multi-Fit Wheel Plate will work great
So, to be clear, I'd still need to get a bike rack attachment?
Yes, any 2" hitch-mounted bike rack. Thule, Kuat, and 1-Up would be our top recommendations.
you have for Toyota hilux 2018?
Yes we do, www.rigdsupply.com/products/rigd-ultraswing-hitch-carrier-multi-fit. Shoot us a photo of the hitch to confirm everything is good-to-go.
Would this fit an 04 forester?
Yes, feel free to email support@rigdsupply.com for any other fitment questions
What rims are those? Thanks

how well does it compare with the wilco hitchgate?
We're not into bashing other companies, feel free to tell us what vehicle you have and we can get more specific about how ours or other options will compare, but here are some differences:
Removable/adjustable wheel plate
Secondary hitch that swings for bike racks, etc. (and lower 10,000 lb tow-rated receiver).
More places for mounting accessories
Improved fitment for specific vehicles. (let us know what rig you have for details)
Angled tire (improves the weight distribution of a heavy spare while also improving aesthetics).
A simplified anti-wobble device that's easier to install and stays tighter longer.
Open position pin holes with 5 settings to keep open on uneven terrain
500 lb compression latch for no wiggling
Direct mounts for license plate, Rotopax, and hi-lift so no extra accessories are required.
Plug-n-play accessories like a folding camp table.
@@rigdsupply6945 i have the exact same year subaru forester and model in this video. i can only afford to get one, just trying to get some info before i make a decision.
@@JT-or3ok Again, we aren't hear to bash anyone. (Don't hate, create.) Here's a few features not found on Wilco’s:
Removable/adjustable wheel plate with angled tire which displaces the weight of the tire better.
Patent pending off-set secondary hitch that swings (and lower hitch tow rated to 10K lbs). The off-set swinging hitch is designed for optimized use with modern bikes and bike racks.
More places for mounting accessories.
Significantly improved fit, closer to the vehicle. (The wilco one will stick out almost a foot further from the vehicle in some applications and the wedge in the hitch is barely inside)
Simplified wedge that's easier to install
Open position pin holes to keep open on uneven terrain
500 lb compression latch for no wiggling
Direct mounts for license plate, rotopax, and hi lift so no extra accessories are required.
Plug-n-play accessory options like a drop-down camp table
Will this work on a 2021 crosstrek sport?
Yes, shoot us an email to confirm which hitch you have on your Crosstrek to make sure there are no issues. support@rigdsupply.com
@@rigdsupply6945 I don't have a hitch yet, which do you recommend for my 2021 crosstrek sport 2.5ltr?
@@Joseph-mx6xv The curt one fits great: www.curtmfg.com/part/13382
can it withstand weight of a person?hehe. like if I sit on it
Static load no worries sitting on it, just obviously don’t ever do so while vehicle is in motion 👍
