For my first truck I'm getting something kind of like this, its a maroon/red 72 Chevy C-10 and its long wheel based. I don't know why but older and more square trucks have always stood out to me and the C-10s look amazing. Nice truck by the way, I'm liking the color a lot!

Hey man your a big inspiration of mine. I'm 17 and I went out and bought myself a 73 c10 454 a few months back. It immediately stopped working so I replaced the starter, fuel pump, and carb. I had it running for a few months but it died on me the other day and it won't start again so I'm gonna have to work on it again. Thanks for the videos tho man!

I just got a 1988 Chevy C3500 with the 454 Big block. I'll be very honest, I just loved the truck but I have very little knowledge of the engine and truck in general. First project ever!
Thanks for not forgetting about the truck. I'm still hunting for a ls2 for my little 305 4bbl. Then add a nice size turbo, because the space in the engine bay just begs for it:). Keep on wrench bro!
Use to have a 85 with an 87 grill so looked like an 87 Silverado but mine had 12 inches of lift all together an with all the power that was put into the engine I was blowing 5.0 mustang's away , obviously not from the start but doing 40 on the highway and going from there. Besides that had dule flowmaster headers and 3 inch pipes. Kept 35s during the winter and anywhere from 40 to 44s during the summer. Thing was a show truck, kick myself every day when I see what people are paying for these trucks right now.
Will sure surely be following this...cant wait til u put in the 5.3...preparing to swap a 99 5.3 in my 74 longbed...i actually looked at ur old vids to get an idea of how to do the swap...but be sure to keep us posted bro

Just picked up an 85 c1500 to bring back from near death. You would have died seeing what they did to the exhaust system on that poor truck. Building up a 5.7 to drop in there and chase down rice burners........yours looks awesome and sounds even better!

AGearHead4Life Thankfully it's already got a solid rear window in there. 2 separate kill switches are ready to go once I hit engine swap stage. You still planning on a 17" Crager style wheel for the 87?
tacobeef I really like 17" craiger looking American racing wheels, but I've decided to go with new 20" Camaro wheels. I just posted a pic of them on my Facebook bloag page and instagram a couple days ago. I picked them up on a deal and couldn't pass them up. I liked how the 20"s looked on my last truck, so these should look good too. Another thing for you to consider for secrutiy is a GPS tracker.
Bro thats a really nice blue. Hope to have mine up and running by April. I think the sliders are so cool because you dont see them on new trucks, but makes our trucks an easier target. Cool Idea with the franks bottle, i just threw my old reservoir away.
yea it was free at that! I think our trucks are going to be fairly similar I just got the small sport mirrors you were talking about and mine has the same hood... factory hight right now but I think santa is bringing me a drop kit! lol
Nah, I dont have a video yet, but its in the back of my mind to make one. The harness isnt very hard to make it work. It gets hard when you want to make it look nice by actually taking it apart and redoing it. I do have one video that shows how easy it is to make it work. You just give power to three wires and the engine will run if the PCM has been flashed to remove the VATS alread.

No problem, wanted the 34" rad but mine was only a 28". When I swapped to a bored 6.0 I should bought a 34" but the guy I was working with was like the 28" is adequate enough. Which it is but I just like my stuff to fit perfect, and that's why I'm going to scrap the new 28" and get the 34" rad and fans. Already have the harness for the 7/9 blade setup.

If I may suggest as a deterrent get a handful of flashing red LEDs and wire them up to look like an alarm and leave them on all the time, run a relay operated coil disconnect so it can't be stolen. You could do both of these under $20

Looking for a running/driving C10 to put a Vortec in myself. Plan is to find one with little to no body work needed and do the suspension and interior this summer and put the 5.3L and 4l60/80 in this winter
I ENJOY your videos vary much, keepem coming. I particularly like the hands on sub your own labor for cash style vary much how I have,always done it myself. That and I believe your a pretty sharp dude and so far haven't contradicted yourself or sub BS for real factual information. I think that's why so many people say you've given them the confidence to try an LS swap or some other car job. People can tell your not trying to blow smoke and that this is what it takes. Good example was the PS pulley swap. I knew how to do it but had never actually needed to so never had as my sister would say it's not rocket surgery or brain science but it's vary reassuring to see it done. Again thanks for the time effort to video all you have.

I got an 87 that ive been working on forever. Still has the stock tbi 305. But I've been really thinking of an ls swap in the future. I just want to know the basic things I need to drop it in and make it run. Like to keep the efi but a carb would keep it simple. Props on the truck man!

Hey man, really awesome sound. I was wondering if you've had any thoughts on the Flowmaster Super 10 series? I'm looking to grab a couple tomorrow for my 84 C15 with a 5.7. Hoping they sound good, but I appreciate your advice over most people's.
I dont have much experience with them, but I'm sure they'll sound good. Flowmaster always had a good sound to it. I'm guessing those will be pretty loud, but loud may be what you want. If its ever too loud, there are tricks to quiet them up some.

What I like about the 60/40 split with the console is that its like having bucket seats and a bench as the same time. I like having the arm rest and storage to.

Enjoyed the vid. I have the same exact project going that's about finish. I was told that I can swap motor with a Cadillac Escalade 6.2 I currently have a beefed 350 in it. Interior getting done and is ready for paint. Question what's the widest tire I can go with on the rear with stock suspension . I want the 15x10 weld wheels. Will they scrub?

I'm not sure on what is the widest you could fit but I'd bet that you could find that answer on the C10forum. 15x10s should fit just fine, wheel offset may come into play though. Look up on hte forum and see what others have been able to squeeze in there.
400 should be the least you make man, my buddy jake has a 5.3 in his camaro that has a little bigger throttle body, stock injectors, i think the stock intake as well? Dont hold me to it, but roller factory ratio rockers 1.6 (i think again lol dont hold me to it), the heads had a 3 angle valve job and they were ported/polished/milled, and a stage 3 cam and to the wheels the sheet read 406hp, and it hasnt even been tuned yet. So i mean dude you should have a badass hotrod.

Looks great. I like the new seat better too. Love the detail of wires cut and wiper motors gone. So typical in these trucks. Not sure why people do that stuff. I understand a shaved firewall but this was not a show truck to begin with. Do that stuff last and leave the truck functional seems smarter. Everybody needs wipers. I thought you was going to bag the truck. What happened there?
Thanks Kim! I think the people before me must have been planning on building it into a show truck or something. I'm not really sure. Yea, they should have save that par for last though. Yea, I'd like to bag it one day, but that is way down near the bottom of my priority list. I can't put money towards that while I'm scrapping pennies to get a LS motor in it. My priority is to get it running strong with a LS motor, trans, a static drop and be able to tow my Camaro around. Maybe one day way in the future I'll be able to bag it.
Jackson Reyes the '07 fans will work. Depends if you have the 28" radiator or 34". My '00 had the 28" so I can not use the '07 rad. Also the other thing that will be different is the connectors. If you have the 28" rad you can use the '00 Camaro e-fans, just have to make a shroud. Check out www.performancetrucks.net or www.ls1trucks.com
I've considered running blue LEDs under my dash as interior lights. I'd wire them into the wire of the other interior light. That way they can be controlled by the headlight switch.

I do have a quesition for you! Im putting in a tunnel ram and wanted to get you opinion on what cam I should throw in to the c10. I was thinking maybe a 550 cam. but what would you recommend if I want decent milage on the roads and street but some good power for a moderate street race?
BenZilla Stewart Ben! I can tell you this, I believe tunnel rams are built for exactly the opposite of good mileage. I believe that they're made for high RPM racing and to get fuel and air into the head at high RPM. They are cool as heck to see though. My best recommendation to you would be to call your favorite cam shop, like Comp, and ask them what they recommend for your application. Make sure that you have all your vehicle ready before you call. Like vehicle weight, gear ratios, type of trans, etc.

Keep up the good work you motivate me to work on my 82. Im stuck on one current problem tho my oil pressure gauge doesnt work since not connected and i read it was the tan wire. Ive grounded two tan wires that i felt could be fit but nothing. Is there a fuse for the oil pressure?

Hey, Gear, I just wanted to comment again on the exhaust note. I'll take that flow-master "rumble" over that rasp and pop of these late models any day. They are over loud (to me) and really just say hey here I come. lol With your set up, that rumble is subdued until your in it!
Thanks Anthony! That's kinda how I feel about it. Flowmaster has gotten negative feedback lately mainly because its a chambered design instead of a straight through design like Magnaflow. So, it can likely cause backpressure that could reduce peak power. But in this application as my daily driver, that perfect sound is what I wanted. The sound that matches the truck too. I think Flowmaster does it for this truck.
Are 15in wheels uncommon? I purchased a c10 and I need new tires but I don’t have many options as I shop around.. only cooper cobras, bfgoodrich, and another unheard brand. Do I need new rims?
I’ve got a 85 Chevy for some reason it cranks right up and stuff but if I try to floor it a little it starts to idle rough then eventually stalls after that I can turn it back on and run maybe a mile more before it turns off again
Daniel Hernandez My money is on the carburetor being the issue. That seems to be a common issue. Not everyone can rebuild them well enough to eliminate all possible issues either.
Please post a video on how you fab brackets and mount the new seats. I have an 83 and trying to install a 95 rear suburban seat but I can't find anyone that knows how to do it in my area

Did you use stock shocks for this drop? Because I don’t want to buy drop shocks if it will ride badly or bottom out. I have the same spring but stock spindle right now

Yeah, the slide window sucks, take it from another 87 r10 owner. Sweet truck though bruh, it makes me happy to see other R10s in good to great condition out there running.

If I may suggest as a deterrent get a handful of flashing red LEDs and wire them up to look like an alarm and leave them on all the time, run a relay operated coil disconnect so it can't be stolen. You could do both of these under $20

Looking for a running/driving C10 to put a Vortec in myself. Plan is to find one with little to no body work needed and do the suspension and interior this summer and put the 5.3L and 4l60/80 in this winter

I ENJOY your videos vary much, keepem coming. I particularly like the hands on sub your own labor for cash style vary much how I have,always done it myself. That and I believe your a pretty sharp dude and so far haven't contradicted yourself or sub BS for real factual information.
I think that's why so many people say you've given them the confidence to try an LS swap or some other car job. People can tell your not trying to blow smoke and that this is what it takes. Good example was the PS pulley swap. I knew how to do it but had never actually needed to so never had as my sister would say it's not rocket surgery or brain science but it's vary reassuring to see it done.

I got an 87 that ive been working on forever. Still has the stock tbi 305. But I've been really thinking of an ls swap in the future. I just want to know the basic things I need to drop it in and make it run. Like to keep the efi but a carb would keep it simple. Props on the truck man!

Hey man, really awesome sound. I was wondering if you've had any thoughts on the Flowmaster Super 10 series? I'm looking to grab a couple tomorrow for my 84 C15 with a 5.7. Hoping they sound good, but I appreciate your advice over most people's.
I dont have much experience with them, but I'm sure they'll sound good. Flowmaster always had a good sound to it. I'm guessing those will be pretty loud, but loud may be what you want. If its ever too loud, there are tricks to quiet them up some.

I like the full bench seats better than the 60 40 splits
What I like about the 60/40 split with the console is that its like having bucket seats and a bench as the same time. I like having the arm rest and storage to.

Enjoyed the vid. I have the same exact project going that's about finish. I was told that I can swap motor with a Cadillac Escalade 6.2 I currently have a beefed 350 in it. Interior getting done and is ready for paint. Question what's the widest tire I can go with on the rear with stock suspension . I want the 15x10 weld wheels. Will they scrub?

I'm not sure on what is the widest you could fit but I'd bet that you could find that answer on the C10forum. 15x10s should fit just fine, wheel offset may come into play though. Look up on hte forum and see what others have been able to squeeze in there.

400 should be the least you make man, my buddy jake has a 5.3 in his camaro that has a little bigger throttle body, stock injectors, i think the stock intake as well? Dont hold me to it, but roller factory ratio rockers 1.6 (i think again lol dont hold me to it), the heads had a 3 angle valve job and they were ported/polished/milled, and a stage 3 cam and to the wheels the sheet read 406hp, and it hasnt even been tuned yet. So i mean dude you should have a badass hotrod.

Looks great. I like the new seat better too. Love the detail of wires cut and wiper motors gone. So typical in these trucks. Not sure why people do that stuff. I understand a shaved firewall but this was not a show truck to begin with. Do that stuff last and leave the truck functional seems smarter. Everybody needs wipers.

Yea, I'd like to bag it one day, but that is way down near the bottom of my priority list. I can't put money towards that while I'm scrapping pennies to get a LS motor in it. My priority is to get it running strong with a LS motor, trans, a static drop and be able to tow my Camaro around. Maybe one day way in the future I'll be able to bag it.

Jackson Reyes the '07 fans will work. Depends if you have the 28" radiator or 34". My '00 had the 28" so I can not use the '07 rad. Also the other thing that will be different is the connectors. If you have the 28" rad you can use the '00 Camaro e-fans, just have to make a shroud. Check out www.performancetrucks.net or www.ls1trucks.com

I'm going to put red led's up under my dash might wire them in with cargo lamp so I can have a switch on 86 chevy c10.
I've considered running blue LEDs under my dash as interior lights. I'd wire them into the wire of the other interior light. That way they can be controlled by the headlight switch.

I do have a quesition for you! Im putting in a tunnel ram and wanted to get you opinion on what cam I should throw in to the c10. I was thinking maybe a 550 cam. but what would you recommend if I want decent milage on the roads and street but some good power for a moderate street race?
BenZilla Stewart Ben! I can tell you this, I believe tunnel rams are built for exactly the opposite of good mileage. I believe that they're made for high RPM racing and to get fuel and air into the head at high RPM.
They are cool as heck to see though.
My best recommendation to you would be to call your favorite cam shop, like Comp, and ask them what they recommend for your application. Make sure that you have all your vehicle ready before you call. Like vehicle weight, gear ratios, type of trans, etc.

Keep up the good work you motivate me to work on my 82. Im stuck on one current problem tho my oil pressure gauge doesnt work since not connected and i read it was the tan wire. Ive grounded two tan wires that i felt could be fit but nothing. Is there a fuse for the oil pressure?

Hey, Gear, I just wanted to comment again on the exhaust note. I'll take that flow-master "rumble" over that rasp and pop of these late models any day. They are over loud (to me) and really just say hey here I come. lol With your set up, that rumble is subdued until your in it!
Thanks Anthony! That's kinda how I feel about it. Flowmaster has gotten negative feedback lately mainly because its a chambered design instead of a straight through design like Magnaflow. So, it can likely cause backpressure that could reduce peak power. But in this application as my daily driver, that perfect sound is what I wanted. The sound that matches the truck too. I think Flowmaster does it for this truck.

Are 15in wheels uncommon? I purchased a c10 and I need new tires but I don’t have many options as I shop around.. only cooper cobras, bfgoodrich, and another unheard brand. Do I need new rims?
I’ve got a 85 Chevy for some reason it cranks right up and stuff but if I try to floor it a little it starts to idle rough then eventually stalls after that I can turn it back on and run maybe a mile more before it turns off again
Daniel Hernandez My money is on the carburetor being the issue. That seems to be a common issue. Not everyone can rebuild them well enough to eliminate all possible issues either.
